@littletom1978
@littletom1978 Месяц назад
If lived real time during that whole media era , it was DISGUSTING the treating of Britney. Even at the time watching that all could think was wtf? That interview is uncomfortable to watch then and now. Sawyer deserved no respect for her handling of it, even today makes no apology or reflection on it. The sympathy Sawyer had for a governors wife wanting to kill her, for being a normal 21 yr old, just with camera shoved in her face 24/7? The constant you must be a role model for our little girls bs was ridiculous.This country has always been terrified of any woman that owns her own sexuality and who doesn't follow the made up "rules" and do what told. And she wasnt even doing anything scandalous, unless you were of course "offended" cause shes a woman living her life same as any other 21 year old. Dont worry, if you were a man, you were praised, you know, like poor Justin, having his heart broken while laughing about sleeping with her in interviews and raking in the money from videos claiming it. Classy! Even if wanted to give him the hes young excuse, his apology now to her and Janet, was followed by him screaming I apologize to noone at a show did afterwards. again, class act that man. They portrayed it as such then cause, omg, she young, attractive and famous,must be stopped! Britney was a kid, watch any interviews from that time, she was the nicest, sweetest person, but the non stop tearing down at her, it was unbelievable.

Additionally, it's a huge opportunity for her, she cannot walk out or make a big scene, and it is her professional responsibility to try to get as much usable content out of the interview as possible, so she has to try to make it work, and she's constantly having to go back to that place of being professional while this overgrown, creepy child keeps refusing to talk to her about the film he's there to promote, she's there to get a couple of questions in to edit down for the show, and he's just completely wasting her time, and harassing her.

Savile wasn't quite unique. But he was definitely hiding in plain sight for his entire career. In the entry related to him in this video it's stated that he was a 'widely beloved media personality..' Hmmmm yeah... Clearly written by someone who wasn't even born by the time the Savile creature died. Even as far back as the 1970's Savile had TV shows and was undoubtedly popular amoungst his BBC paymasters. But the (adult) public in general was well aware of his supposed predilections even back then. And he was definitely a figure who was reviled by as many as he was liked.

Good for Love for actually saying something. It appears that many, many people were aware of what Weinstein was doing and no one ever spoke out for fear of career repercussions. At least she said something! Probably why her film career died.

Poor Melissa Benoist She and many others who have experienced abusive relationships and have to lied from exposing it has to be difficult in their lives. No one, no matter what gender or race, should not be allowed to be in a relationship if the partner is violent

My sister was in an abusive relationship 20 years ago. Before the rest of her family knew her boyfriend was abusive, she and I got together and I realized she was missing her front tooth. She made up some story that she got drunk the night before and hit her tooth on a toilet when she threw up. I didn’t buy it, and begged her to come with me to the police station. She wouldn’t. The relationship went on for 5 more years, ending when he strangled her and left her for dead in a ditch. She survived, and he served 10 years in prison. That SOB died of cancer 2 years ago. Thank God!

Sigh. I remember years ago while with an abusive ex, he was throwing a tantrum and threw steel toed shoes at me. He did it twice. I was sitting on the floor criss cross and the first shoe he hurled at me, my reflexes made me raise my shin and that's where it got me. I yelped and before I knew it the other one was coming toward me and hit me in the other shin. BOTH of my shins were COMPLETELY blue and black, so bad to where I was being asked by total strangers what happened. Of course I wasn't allowed around anyone unless he was there, so I had to lie and say I fell on rocks while hiking. I luckily managed to get out of that relationship, and to this day he is the only person in the world that I hate.

I almost feel like a short course in recognizing narcissistic/sociopathic personalities should be a requirement in Middle/High School health class. I don't care what you think you "deserve", NOBODY deserves to be treated like that, and there are plenty of decent people who won't treat you like crap.

It’s unlikely that Diane Sawyer will ever apologize for her drive-Britney-to-tears interview. Asking the appropriate and right questions to keep the interviewee and viewers comfortable is just so wrong these days, all because celebs want to make a big buck. And people mock others for not worshipping idols in any way, shape, or form.

While I agree she was out of line, a true journalist isn't afraid to (respectfully) ask the hard questions to really get at the heart of a person/issue, that's good journalism. Brainless talking heads do nothing but serve up softballs and other "corporate safe" questions.
