Brought into the WTO and given most favored nation status and also given a third world development status. This gives them free reign to produce abusively, and pollute to their heart's content without a word from anybody to complain. Actually plants grow faster and better now. Ifs called CO2 fertilization. I am not saying climate change is a good thing. Over all its horrible, but in this one issue, you are wrong. Most plants would benefit. Most of the history of earth, CO2 levels were much higher than now.
@@troyb3659 It's very true. In the list of top 20 CO2 emitting nations, India has lowest per capita emissions, around 1.7 metric tonnes per capita. For instance, US has 15.6 and china has 7 metric tonnes per capita.

Its interesting to see that France despite being one of the most industrialized countries in the word, keeps dropping. Thats not only because it relies mostly in nuclear energy, but also because of the environmental politics in which they truly are (or should be) an example to the world.
France per Capita is significantly lower than Germany now. And it's because France kept the nuclear energy while Germany is turning it off. Let's all learn from France. New generation nuclear technology will be even greener, safer and better. Everyone should be thinking about it.
@Shmatt S Well, it has changed its industry, importing its stuff from China. So I am not sure what to applaud here, as the emissions the UK causes are just shifted to anothers countries calculation. They haven't disappeared.
How would it? And how would you disputr those numbers. It's a reason why india and china don't have restrictions on fossile fuel and they don't innovate. They also don't care about the enviroment. Look at their population

Very interesting to watch the acceleration/deceleration of output, over time. From 2003/4 the US output slowed to just over 5 tonnes and actually started a reduced output that brought them down, from just over 6 tonnes to its current output, from approx. 2000 forward. Seems like the stats are finally reflecting not only the population, but the degree of industrialization and other factors that add/subtract to a country's output.
Meanwhile Canada (with same pop) is double lol (and yes, Poland with 300.000 vs Germany with 700.000 is rougly equivalent per capita since Poland is ~40m and Germany ~100m).
That's only because in the early 90s when the Soviet Union collapsed, Poland was also hit with new economic policies that basically decimated its economy with cheap foreign imports and shut down its domestic production.
Hubcio So did the emissions of Russia and Ukraine, but it was only because the factories were shutting down after our countries entered the capitalist economy.

The per capita carbon emissions of the United States are very high, several times higher than China's.
This is why if we prompt the USA AND Europe to go as much as HALVE their emissions, we can still only delay the consequences. Their industry moves massive amounts of earth to access those ores and thus they produce more emissions per capita then countries that have no mining industry.. @@noelgenoway9360 Hi! Good Day! Well in India we do need air conditioning and fans during summer which is very brutal. 45-degree centigrade is not very uncommon during our summers. Well, Asians are known to be extremely frugal when consuming resources. It would be an interesting comparison of how developing countries and well-developed countries individuals compare and what is the yearly per capita increase is. I am interested in how the graph starts to flatten or peak.
I think fare comparison should be CO2 per capita (by population) than total CO2. Also China exports lot of goods so part of their CO2 emissions attribute to those countries who import those goods, for example USA. PS: I do want every country to cut down their CO2 emissions.
You may have missed it, but the per capita leaders were presented on the right side of the presentation. Almost exclusively underdeveloped countries where fuels aren't used efficiently.
With the roll out of renewables and efficiency measures, pay attention to the UK, starting with 'The Climate Change Act 2008', and how fast its emissions dropped. Economic progress can be decoupled from carbon emissions, and with a fully green economy the potential economic benefits (let alone environmental and social) are mind blowing. The future winners and leaders are green.
The chinese actually listen to her though, they've stopped importing trash and disposing them for other countries. unlike some politicians and celebrities....
Actually, I've heard the reason why Europe's CO2 emission decreases is because the industries that pollute are relocated in third world countries like India or China, while industries in Europe are converted into stuff that don't pollute ^^' Which makes sense actually.
And here I was watching my country (The Netherlands) only going slightly up (peaking at 187k, only 3x higher than the original start) and then down, until it's no longer in the list.
And we in Germany import quite a few products from there. Many products have somewhat organic "plastic" packages instead of normal ones You guys also take part in a lot of social or climate related projects in the third world.
I would say that having almost 4 times more population than the States, China only emitted barely 2 times CO2 of the States, either something is wrong with the US or China is doing a relatively good job.
If you're truly worried about the environment, total output is the only thing that matters. It is lower per capita because far more than half of the Chinese people live in poverty and are lucky if they have a family bicycle or moped to get to work each day..
@@dancnkc After watching all these stats, you are wasting 4 mins of your life if you still believe in these stereotype thing. In fact, half of the Chinese families have their own private cars. China is america's largest creditor
@Ameen ShindoliTo be fair, C02 emissions count is somewhat different from pollution levels. The Clear Air act passed in the US so many years ago has done wonders to reduce pollution and smog in their cities. There was also conservation projects to clean up rivers and water reservoirs, for example: A river in the US known as the Connecticut river used to be inhospitable, 40 years later it is much cleaner and now most of it is safe for swimming. India has less overall C02 emissions, yet since the country's industrialization is in full swing, there is yet to be a major conservation effort to curb such pollutants from being present in major population centers. Not all Americans are stupid, however a lot of them are. That is something I will admit. Something I have observed is the phenomenon of "Rational Ignorance." Remember to put double quotation marks on ""Rational."" This appears to be something prevalent in many Americans, which refuse to educate themselves not because they are unable but because they are unwilling. Many Americans I have been around are too focused on their personal lives and the weather to give a shit about anything but themselves and their social circle. They say that they are just one person and that even if they were educated it wouldn't matter. In actuality it does, especially when millions of people are having the exact same thought and are doing the exact same thing. I am ridiculed for having worldly views and being concerned about whats going on around me, which is frustrating. This does highlight something about American culture as a whole, as intellectual discussion is seen as a taboo and is shunned as not proper social etiquette. Thankfully, there are plenty of likeminded people in America who at the very least know Germany is in Central Europe, the UK is an island, and that China is not bordering Mexico (People actually believe this).
Notice how the UK, Italy, France and Poland produce now much less CO2 than before. Those are serious countries! China, the US and others could learn a great deal from them

Yes. In 1950s and 1960s Japan got serious to solve their pollution issue. Until 2011 Japan was a big innovator for nuclear energy too, along with France, which was a big factor but not only factor in reducing pollution.
@@SADebre , actually the US has been decreasing quite a lot... I mean heck look at the end the US easily decreased the most out of everyone. I think the most alarming thing is the amount of pollution that the United States has been generating since 1960 and that continues to increase today. Especially since the US was the dominant power since the middle of the last century, so it marked a trend that other countries copied to compete with it. If the United States had taken another course last century, perhaps the trend of polluting to grow economically and industrially would have changed, which other countries could have followed, when you are a power you have a great responsibility.
I guess the USSR did not share its stats on carbon dioxide emissions which would explain why it's not there and why Russia pops up at #3 out of nowhere in 1992.
