Dear Zachary is one of the most infuriating films ever made. The fact that the Canadian judicial system let a suspected murder have unrestricted access to her child and the inevitable happened. Everyone who allowed that to happen has Zachary's blood on their hands and should live in SHAME.

"There's Something Wrong with Aunt Diane" is definitely one of the more disturbing documentaries I've seen, just because the family refused to admit that maybe the "perfect Diane" compartmentalized things a little too much and it became overwhelming, leading to hidden alcoholism which lead to the crash. A bit of a warning: They show photos of Diane's body that were taken at the scene of the crash, but not the children thankfully.

The documentary basically said France wanted him out of the country as soon as possible and Japan, a country that has a 99.9% guilty conviction, couldn’t try him because he didn’t commit the crime on Japanese soil. But if you watch Interview With A Cannibal, you pretty much see the man in a decrepit state. His family is all dead, he has no money, and he’s spent his life alone with no sense of true happiness. And he died that way too. It’s honestly sad, but it’s what he deserved. He never paid for his crimes in jail after all.

"Wisconsin Death Trip" is really fascinating. It is a glimpse into rural life in the 1890's but all the craziness isn't limited to just one area of one state. It shows how the isolation of farms and small towns can affect the residents and magnify mental illnesses. Every state from the Great Lakes westward has its "Death Trip". Wisconsin was the focus because of the huge cache of photos found in the basement of a photographer's studio. He was determined to capture everyday life in addition to commissioned work in his small town. The photos have no relation to the stories, but could.

When I watched Room 237, I didn’t find it profound or spooky at all. Just an endless stream of pretentious anecdotes from Kubrick Stans who are looking way too deep in to a deliberately ambiguous film. And some of them were reaching so bad, I would’ve laughed if I didn’t find their viewpoints so utterly pitiful to listen to 🙄 Shame really. It should’ve been more as a mockumentary on absurd film analysis rather than the earnest breakdown of the Shining which it ultimately was.

One documentary you should watch is called “Nazi Concentration Camps” it’s a documentary made up of black and white footage taken when the camps were liberated. It’s definitely shocking to see just how many dead bodies there were. Every body looks the same, there’s no male and female really.. it’s just skinny skeleton like bodies. I wanted to show my best friend at the time the documentary because we would make jokes about the holocaust and I believed it was important for her to know that it isn’t all a joke it’s real. It’s okay to use comedy as a coping mechanism (I think most people don’t understand that a dark sense of humour does come from fear, the fear of those events happening again can be so scary to them that they can’t function so making light of it helps them not be constantly afraid) but of course she didn’t take it very seriously so I had to watch it on my own to be able to actually sit and just watch it from a respectful perspective.
