Hard to believe it's been a decade since that first Republic at War series, thanks for the fantastic content for all those years. One of these days the clone troopers Jim and Bob will get those reinforcements.

In case you didn’t know, there is a new Star Wars conversion for Stellaris called Star Wars: New Dawn. It's pretty good and you should check it out if you haven't already.

Really fortunate timing on this video! I just released my Star Wars Retheme mod series for Rimworld, which rethemes the Empire and the Deserters from Vanilla Factions Expanded into the Empire and the Rebels. The rebels even have a campaign to capture hypervelocity gun installations to bring down an Imperial space station where a tyrannical Moff is hiding!

Lets start a list of big mod projects I forgot or didn't know about! I will edit this as we get more in the comments. GALAXY AT WAR - Men at War AS2 ---> Hit me literally right after I released the video. Arma 3 mods Star Wars: New Dawn - Stellaris? Palpatines Gamble hoi4 X-Wing Alliance upgrade mod! There’s actually a very excellent and updated total conversion for Stellaris called Star Wars: New Dawn. It does all the ship sets, races, governments and gives all the customization options that stellaris normally offers. You should spotlight it sometime, Shack!

Funnily, the most developed released Star Wars total conversion I'm aware of for the Command & Conquer series (I think Generals had some that got cancelled) was actually for Tiberian Dawn (the Windows 95 rerelease, so not quite the original), and was titled simply "C&C Meets Star Wars". Obviously, this has some qualifiers, and for something more modern there's the Cameo mod for OpenRA, which isn't _just_ a Star Wars mod, but does have a selection of Star Wars factions amongst its many, many factions.

I think the series is slowly getting more and more popular. I remember playing X-Beyond the frontier in the late 90's. It wasn't till X3TC I found a larger community playing it. :D

I remember loving those Star Wars minecraft series that got popular many years ago, with warp drives and huge ships, it was an experience to watch. You did miss out on Garry's Mod though, Star Wars RP servers have been huge on there and have been getting consistent updates for years, with some servers having hundreds of players. I personally played on a smaller server and still talk to some of the guys I met on there.

One of my favorite total conversations for Stellaris is Star Wars: New Dawn which sets the game during the early part of the galactic civil war and is exceptionaly well made. I say this because talk about it even briefly so I wasn't sure if you knew it existed

Im surprised you didn't mention Starsector's Star Wars 2020 Mod. Adds a bunch of new factions, planets, hull mods, weapons, and of course ships. Im currently allied to the Zann Consortium and I'm working on building a little pirate empire to take over the galaxy with.

Surprised Movie Battles 2 for Jedi Academy never got added to this. Totally changed everything in that game from a full Redo of Lightsaber combat, added classes and different mechanics. The multiplayer community is still pretty lively from what i've heard.

So glad you mentioned XCom 2, there has been lots of work on adding Star Wars stuff to that game and you can go MUCH farther than just making the enemies into the Empire with, imo, the best mods being Clone stuff mainly cause there are a lot of content just for that with more to come.

I tried out the clone mods in the early days of XCOM 2, and wow. It was a nightmare to get everything running without helmets or other armor parts being invisible. But then I finally got it working perfectly, and aside from load times being atrocious due to all the mods, it was otherwordly. It felt like a Star Wars tactics game. Watching a Clone squad hop out of the ship at the start of a mission, all loaded with relevant gear? So cool.

There is also a massive Star TREK total conversion mod for Stellaris. New Horizons. If you ever wanted to see if the Enterprise-D really could take on an Imperial Star Destroyer, there are ship mods for the old Star Trek: Bridge Commander game.

shack if you didnt know there is a current up to date stellaris full conversion mod called Star Wars: New Dawn it is made by the same team as Star Wars: Legacy of the Old Republic so not sure how you missed that one

Yeah, there's only 3 games I can think of where you can do that. Star Citizen, X4 and a little known game called Angels Fall First. Angels Fall First is a team vs team multiplayer game but luckily it has pretty good bots so you can play it single player or with just a few people and have bots filling out the teams.

One of my favorite conversions is the Star Wars mods for Onward VR on both Quest and PC is fantastic. It plays very much like Battlefront 2 '05 in VR.

For me it's the custom server forks of SWGEmu. They just offer everything I could want in the Star Wars setting, with different client installs/characters depending on what part I want to focus on at a given time.

Kenshi is Project Kathun. It is super damn good! Just started it and it is so good! Think Knights of the Old Republic with Clone wars and Empire Strikes back all rolled into one. So fun!

I just recently returned to the channel, i took a couple years break from youtube (more or less) and any social interaction website, for my mental health. I saw you mention battlefront commander during the EaW section, have you done a campaign in that on the channel? It's been a mod i've been looking at recently as an article for the mod dated back in 2014 shows omega squad (the unit I want to essentially build a campaign around) but newer screenshots of the mod both on moddb and the steam workshop seem to no longer have those screenshots of omega squad. anyways I'll soon be back to commenting on new content more regularly as I've for the last couple weeks been going through and watching all the campaigns I've missed, (and am already up to Awakening of the rebellion ep. 29)

Another fantastic option is the Star Wars mod for Contractors, a VR game that essentially transforms it into a VR version of Battlefront.

I'd love to see someone develop a _Star-Citizen-like_ fully physicalized Star Wars game with no load screens, ships that are fully realized, planets that are totally explorable, cities players can roam, and a galaxy you can explore at will.

Despite the reputation of SC, there's a reason why people still play it. As you said, you want fully realized ships (including detailed interiors), explorable planets with no loading screens, cities people can roam, and no loading screens beyond getting into the game itself. SC features all of these, albeit sometimes in a very unstable manner, and does so better than most other titles on the market. I, too, would love for another game to come along and do what SC is doing now, but that kind of game is also usually gonna be super expensive and hard to make - despite SC's funding being seen as wasted dollars (and some of it definitely is), it truly is insane the amount of tech they've developed from the ground up just to realize a tiny fraction of this dream and how expensive it gets. We can dream. My two main hopes for the future of gaming are true, massive explorable regions (the size of countries or entire worlds, or galaxies) and the integration of AI for NPC dialogue to make each playthrough truly unique akin to a real, freestyle DnD campaign in a video game. In a perfect world? Both of these things put together.

the X-Wing Alliance upgrade mod and the Tie Fighter total conversion mod for X-Wing Alliance upgrade mod recreates tie fighter in two versions a straight port of the campaign and their own modernised version

There are actually TWO big Stellaris-To-Star-Wars Total Conversion mods for the current version of the game, both made by the same group (who also did a Star Trek mod!), Legacy of the Old Republic as mentioned in the video, and Star Wars: New Dawn, set in the Galactic Civil War

You forgot Men of War Assault squad 2. There's GaW (Galaxy at War) and USW (ultimate starwars mod).USW can be played side by side with a 40k and some other big conversions

I would also add: Strategy: Expanding Fronts, and a mod for Europa universalis or Hearts of Iron but I forget which. Space combat: Tie Fighter Total Conversion, and Xwing Alliance Upgrade (optional VR). Ground: Battlefront 3 legacy, Clone wars mod for Contractors (VR).

you should have mentioned mordhau it has star wars conversion mod you can duel with lightsabers and the combat is very deep not just strike and block

Ah, it's good to see Shack during his younger days. The times before he became a real life Ordo Rahl. XD I heard a rumor there is a Command & Conquer: Generals - Zero Hour - Star Wars Supreme Battlegrounds v.2.0.0 mod is out there, but I've yet to test it. As EA likes to hide that game deep in their store website. Grrr! Thanks for the video Shack! It was a blast to see what the modding community has done to bring SW to their favorite games.

a good mod which is more of a conversion/addon is for star wars galatic battlegrounds called expanding fronts, its star wars age of empires. but the team has added 10s of thousands of new assets, many new factions, tons of units, balance changes, and new mechanics. its an entirely different game and i wish more people played it cause it has so much more depth to it than age of empires or unmodded galatic battlegrounds that i cant really play aoe anymore without constanting thinking "i could be playing galatic battlegrounds instead"

the X4 mod is great and the main reason I got X4. But, with that said, it's still going to play like X4, so I recommend watching videos to see if you're interested. I'd also wait for both the game and DLC to go on sale as interworlds requires all the expansions

Im ngl I didnt click the video because there was a rodian and I thought it was EA BFII mods and wasnt interested and didnt even read the title fully. This is a great video and exactly what Ive been looking for, however just not interested in newer looking games being modded because theyre new and the experience is still yet to be fully lived.

Does anyone know of a way to reduce the number of NPC ships in X4: Interworlds? I absolutely love the mod for the brief periods my laptop is able to run it, but when I hit the 15-hour mark the number of NPC ships flying around stations absolutely tanks my framerate.
