Half of these countries are in the "pick a random historical event to sing about" club, and half are in the "okay, you need to get over yourself" club. A couple of them are in both at once. And then there's France, which is in the "Dude, you need to chill out" club.

The US, French and Russian are probably in the most famous group. That Germany and the UK are so low are simply wrong. With all respect India is not that well known - and if it is about number of people on the country - the China is not even on the list. I would say 1. UK, 2. French 3. USA 4. Germany and 5. Russia 6. India and then China. I found the Ukrainian one - spot on . Interesting list thoug!

The German anthem was composed by Haydn for the Austrian Emperor and was the Austro-Hungarian Empire's anthem until the beginning of the 20th century :)

As an Indian, I feel proud. As a Bengali, I feel prouder. The anthem is written and composed by Tagore, and the picture you show, Bharat Matha, is painted by his nephew, Aban. Both Bengali, both residents of my city.

a little note: hymns played by an orchestra sound different from those played on a piano, and many hymns are modeled on the French national anthem,

I knew 4 out the 20 anthems. Doesn't really surprise me given how much I'm into classical music and how I've also had a passing interest with anthems. 3 of these anthem melodies, I have heard in classical music pieces, the other I recognize cause it's from where I was born. The ones I have heard in classical music pieces are: German -> Haydn String Quartet in G Hob. III:77 "Emperor", piano arrangement of said quartet, and Das Kaiserlied Hob. XXVIa:43 UK -> Beethoven 7 Variations on "God save the King" French -> Tchaikovsky 1812 Overture And the one from where I was born is the USA anthem.

French anthem is not creating by tchaikovsky, the national anthem was in 1792 and the overture was in 1880

@@tovarishlumberjack2356 because it's written in a really old fashion way, what makes it hard to understand - even for Brazilians -, so the translation doesn't make much justice to it... The poetry behind the lyrics is outstanding, but I suppose it's the same for the other anthems too.

@@tovarishlumberjack2356it was written during the Parnasian literature movement, with very complex words not used in everyday language. Not only that, the syntactic order is inversed in every single verse and it has many metaphors and citations to other songs and poems

I like this idea, but I take issue with your methodology here. "More popular" implies to me popular globally. That countries with a huge population, like Russia and India, have lots of views on their anthems, is hardly surprising, but that doesn't necessarily mean it's a globally popular tune. Similarly, it's hardly surprising that China doesn't show up in this list, because RU-vid is banned in China. Ideally, you would have found a way to factor in the population for each country, specifically the number of people with internet access (numbers virtue of the Wikipedia article "List of countries by number of Internet users") and somehow take into account the fact that RU-vid is or has been banned in several countries (there is also a Wikipedia article about that). It's a bit more complex, but I think better methodology
