Check the video description for more information about the games. I spent about 30-60min per game. So these are not in-depth impessions but should provide a direction about the quality of the game. The only exceptions are the lightgun games. I don't own any dreamcast lightgun 😊 I used GDEMU ro run all games.

The last time I checked these they all had fairly major slowdown at some point. But they all run smoothly in your videos. Have they been fixed since then? I.e. Doplhin Blue was unfinishable, etc.

Thank you for putting together an easy to follow comprehensive list of all the atomiswave games playable on Dreamcast now. I was following this a while back, but I hadn't kept track. Any word on 240p support for Metal Slug 6? Have you tried the Pre-scaler option in 5x, if not?

So much potential. This console was the only one worth having back then. Essentially a mid range PC with some very clever custom hardware. They hit the stores the same time I was working at PC World and we didn't sell many. There were VooDoo 5 cards on the shelves around that time for the same price as a Dreamcast. My brother bought one, and we played a ton of Sydney Olympics 2000 on it. I tried Quake III Arena and was seriously impressed with how well it ran the game.
@hanzobi1926
@hanzobi1926 Год назад
Tbh, I have not seen the jump in graphic presentation and the overall experience that the Dreamcast offered back when it was released. Of course we had PC's that ran and looked better, yet for a console, the DC was amazing imo. The years that followed since, it's just been incremental updates hardware and nothing has stood out, well for me it hasn't.
@TheVanillatech
@TheVanillatech Год назад
@@hanzobi1926 DC was amazing because it managed to pull off PC-like games, but didn't go so far as to try to emulate a PC, as later consoles did (and not only failed miserably, but hijacked and forever ruined legendary PC gaming franchises). It also did what it was supposed to do - ie. console games like fighting or schmuups - brilliantly well. It was basically all downhill for consoles after the DC, except the Wii series. Which again, knew what they were, and never tried to be anything else. Respect for Nintendo for that.

Hey Wobbling, thank you for covering these games, I hadn't seen any sort of review of the recent arcade to Dreamcast ports, so it's nice to see someone narrow down what I should try. I second the comment about meaning "Fighting Game", when you wrote Beat-Em Up. Also, I've been following you for a while and would like you to succeed, so here's a friendly suggestion about the style of your videos: you present a lot of information in a short period of time. Normally I'm all for concise presentation, but sometimes I have to pause or rewind your videos to re-read things, so here are a few initial thoughts (from a non-RU-vidr) on how you might do things... You typically start playing the footage from a new game, introduce the title, your review score, and then some additional info, all within 10 seconds or so. The additional information sticks around while the game footage is playing, so if you ignore the in-game footage at first and instead read the name and your score, and then attempt to watch the game footage and read the additional info, it works out fine. But when new game footage pops up, my automatic inclination is to look at the pretty new video and listen to the loud new sound, rather than looking at the name and score. You might mute/reduce the volume of the in-game footage while the name/your rating/additional info are displayed (perhaps the the first 10-20 seconds). Then possibly fade out the additional info, instead of showing it for the entire 30-60-etc seconds of game play that you typically use. And another note for the further future, if growing the channel is your goal, I think you will need to show yourself and speak. Even though English isn't your first language, I believe engagement rates go way up when a person is visible and audible. If expanding your channels is something you want, you might try adding yourself into the videos with a brief synopsis of your thoughts/review of the game as an introduction before going to your typical gameplay footage. And if you want someone to proofread the text of your videos, I'm happy to help without compensation/etc. ...And if none of these ideas sounds appealing, no worries, do it however you want, it's your channel/time/hobby :)
@wobblingpixels3921
@wobblingpixels3921 2 года назад
Thanks for your suggestions. The average time for each game is about 25sec. The first 15 sec I use to display the general information about the game. The last 10sec is for the user to watch gameplay. I could blur the first seconds of the video and show just information but then people would complain who just want to see the gameplay. What I can do is to increase the length of each video segment to 35sec. I am not a native english speaker. Sure I could do some voice overs but that would be a huge effort for me because speaking and writing english are two different things as you know. The main point is that I have to prepare not only the content of my speech but also the write down voice overs with correct grammar etc. That would cost a lot of time. Right now I don't see voice overs coming but mabye in the futiure.

I got the Atomis Wave games for DC, is there a way to remap the buttons? I was told that with a certain button combo you can access a debug menu. Where can I find what the button combo for each game is? A simple internet search didn't find it for me.

These games look just beautiful. Especially 2D ones. Too bad Sega threw bus on themselves with that DC cancelation. I'd love to see Sega wrestle with Sony, Xbox and GameCube. PS2 being 2nd after DC fought its ass off and look at the sells... They won numbers-wise and it only confirmed importance of whole package and not just system power or best dev-teams. I'd love to see Sega in the early 00's console war. Too bad we couldn't see Dreamcast's full potential.
