bro half of the non english people didn't even understand the plot of peaky blinders and that's the reason popularity of peaky came down after season 2...just a confined story of old birmingham...even Green Street Movies are better than peaky.
i saw Zendaya and laughed, then came to the comments. her pefromance is good but no way is she top 20, seeing this comment confirms this list isnt credible
All of these performances are awesome, but my personal favorite is Anthony Starr’s performance as Homelander. The way he can transition from kind and approachable to deadly and psychopathic in the blink of an eye is just so damn cool, and that’s what makes him one of my favorite actors from The Boys
I never knew he was New Zealander until I saw an interview. I was blown away. I thought he was from Iowa or Ohio or Idaho. His American accent is impeccable. I spent the entire first season thinking he was from like Minnesota or wherever. It never occurred to me he was not American.
@joshuamohlman I had the exact same thing happen years earlier with Karl Urban. Never knew he was a kiwi until I heard his natural accent. He can absolutely nail a general American accent, or a regional one. He fooled me. I thought he was an American for years. And then Urban and Starr appear in the same show. NZ'ers getting it done!
Bob Odenkirk publicly stated that he almost died of a heart attack caused by his refusal to follow his doctor's wise medical advise because said physician was a conservative.
Oh c’mon i know it was just one season but Paddy Considine as King Viserys was pure perfection. Also Hamish Linklater as Father Paul from Midnight Mass was amazing.
I don't disagree, PC owned that role, but in the ASOIAF media universe, Lena Heady is an absolute goddess. I didn't give the Emmys a lot of weight before GoT, but their failure to honor her work has rendered them meaningless in my eyes.
Having only known Zendaya as Michelle “MJ” Jones, her performance as Rue brought to life the real conflict with drug abuse in _Euphoria._ Not even Hunter Schafer’s Jules could break through. You don’t forget a scene like the failed intervention.
Bob Odenkirk never winning an Emmy for Better Call Saul is one of the great tragedies in TV history. Rhea Seehorn not winning an Emmy for one of the great portrayals of a female TV character ever is right up there too.
If you ever need proof that Emmys are a complete joke, just look at BCS. Best show I've ever seen with some of the best performances I've ever seen in media. Rhea Seehorn's Kim Wexler is arguably the best written and acted female character I've ever seen grace a screen. Bob, Michael, Banks, Fabian, etc should be held at the highest standard for what an actor can give to a role. Then on top of that you have some of the best cinematography in the business. Plot, story, writing whatever that doesn't hold the viewers hand. This is my hill and I'm sticking to it but BCS is better than Breaking Bad, and BB is near perfect
Bob Odenkirk finally getting the recognition he deserves. Everything about Better Call Saul was overlooked by Emmy for all those years. Had the PERFECT final scene and, IMHO was better than Breaking Bad
Julia Garner never gets enough love for her supporting role as Ruth Langmore in Ozark. She seemed like garden variety hillbilly criminal in the beginning, but she added so many more layers as the show progressed.
Here are my Top 3 of Last Decade: 1. Bob Odenkirk for Better Caul Saul 2. Mathew McConaughey for True Detective 3. Rami Malek for Mr. Robot Special Mention to Cillian Murphy too for Peaky Blinders.
Best performances I've seen in TV series this decade were in Season One of True Detective & also the excellent mini-series The Virtues with Stephen Graham. Both shows were two of the finest dramas I've ever seen.
Laura linney in Ozark is one of the best performance I saw in any webseries..... sadly she didn't get much recognition for her portrayal as Wendy Byrde ....she played such a complex role and made us feel every pain , anxiety, emotion of Wendy ❤️
OMG YES!! She is my favorite female performance of the decade. I was expecting seeing her in the top, criminally underrated. I still cannot believe she didn't win that emmy for the 3rd season.
The idea that Negan gets the recognition he deserves on the list but Rick Grimes doesn’t is insane. Both iconic performances but Andrew Lincoln deserves to be on this list for his pure acting range.
Tatiana Maslany in Orphan Black. She had perform as up to 8 different brilliantly realized characters in one episode! I'd like to see if any of the actors on this list could pull that off as well as she could.
Although Darren Criss did a great performance, for me the best performance of the ACS is Sarah Paulson a Marcia Clark. She was so wonderful no doubt why she won every possible award.
Anthony Starr started off playing twins in a great NZ show called ‘Outrageous Fortune’. If you like either version of Shameless you should definitely give it a try.
Thanks for remembering OUTRAGEOUS FORTUNE. 😊 Loved Vans and Jethro. ❤❤ An American version with Virginia Madsen and David James Elliott did not succeed.
@@chazarcola7639 American remakes of comedies from other English-speaking countries tend to be poor. I can only think of about three exceptions. I loved Westside too - most people in the UK haven’t heard of either show… which is a real shame. Got to love Ted!
The Americans started in 2013 and 2018, so it's definitely eligible for this list. I kept waiting and wondered if you would include Keri Russell or Matthew Rhys. I can't believe you ignored them both. Some other great performances that aren't here (but I never expected them to be, since these shows are constantly overlooked: Mackenzie Davis and Lee Pace in Halt and Catch Fire, Toby Stephens in Black Sails, and since miniseries are also included: Hamish Linklater in Midnight Mass.
Most people wouldn't even have seen it, but Amanda Peet's performance in 'Dirty John' is easily top 5 performances of not only the past decade, but of all time.
Great list, just need a little polish. Here is what is how it would look. (Only actors/actresses on of shows i have watched) Only 1 pr show -- breakthrough role 20 - Riz Ahmed - The Night of 19 - Claire Foy - The Crown 18 - Bookem Woodbone - Fargo S2 17 - Bella Ramsay - TLOU 16 - Ali Wong - Beef 15 - Jeniffer Coolidge - The White Lotus 14 - Ayo Edebiri - The Bear 13 - Ambika Mod - This is going to Hurt 12 - Brian Tyree Henry - Atlanta 11 - Pheobe Waller-Bridge - Fleabag 10 - Jared Harris - Chernobyl 9 - Julia Garner - Ozark 8 - Anthony Starr - The Boys 7 - Rami Malek - Mr Robot 6 - Zendeya - Euphoria 5 - Bill Hader - Barry 4 - Jeremy Strong - Succesion 3 - Bob Odenkirk - Better Call Saul 2 - Carrie Coon - The Leftovers 1 - Matthew McConaughey - True Detective
Because the star publicly admitted that he almost died of a heart attack when he refused to listen to his doctor because said physician was a Trump supporter.
The Emmy's are just a bidding war. BCS stands on it's own but the majority of people who get to vote for an Emmy just see the single episode submitted plus marketing, something that BCS didn't pursue to the extent of others. BCS thrives on having seen the entire BB series and El Camino which requires too much investment.
Jackie Gleason never won an Emmy for playing Ralph Kramden on the Honeymooners. He should have won. It was a very influential show and there are people that think that if he never won that he wasn't very good. That is hogwash.
I’ve seen most of these on the list but Antony Star doesn’t get enough credit because of the genre but man when you watch his character, you fear for your life. You are distributed and scared. Great performance.
Where is Walter White ? Where is Tyrion Lannister ? Where is Sherlock Holmes ? Where is Sheldon Cooper ? Where is Thomas Shelby ? Where is Rust Chole ?
I have to say, The Boys is a difficult show to watch because it is brutal in every aspect, but yes, Antony Starr does an amazing job, sometimes I can’t even watch his face while others I find myself amazed almost drawn to the screen. Darren Criss is a monster! What he did as Andrew Cunnanan was sooooo good!! Elizabeth Moss is sooo good! Sometimes I wanna punch her in the face, others I cry so bad for her, others I’m so happy or satisfied, she can make you feel anything! JDM makes you hate him with all of you, I’ve never felt so much hate for a character, it was a shock for me ‘cause I saw him in Grey’s Anatomy and Supernatural and I loved him so much and in TWD he was the worst. It amazes me how, in the last seasons of TWD you can see so much pain on his eyes, he is a master. Zendaya really blew my mind in Euphoria. She’s the reason why I started and kept watching the show because I don’t like these kind of stories, but her acting is superb. From this list, she is my favorite My only complaint with this list is that Peter Dinklage is not here, his role in GOT was legendary
I beg to differ, it was stretched out to 18 episodes, was meant to be about 10, had a bunch of ‘unrelated’ extra storylines that were painfully boring to watch. The only thing I loved was Laura Dern being revealed as Dianne. They mucked that up, tho. I could list many other things it was criticized for
My favorite tv shows Performances 1 Jeremy Allen White In the Bear, he played carmy just this Broken man who does know have to Process his emotional 2 Bryan Cranston In Breaking Bad i means come on this performance is icon 3 Matthew Mcconaughey in True Detectives he played Rust is also broken man but he take to take his anger on the people who take way his daughter 4 Sarah Snock In Succession just amazing performance she Brought everything to this character 5 Olivia Cooke in House of the Dragon she played alicent like women who never get to choose her decisions of her life 6 Penn Badgley In You this man very creepy and scary but also person who never have loved in his life 7 Aaron Paul In Breaking Bad he Jesse as this little kid when everything became too real for him it change him 8 Anya Taylor Joy In Queen Gambit, her performance was just unbelievable good this why everyone should keep their eyes on 9 Even Peters in Monster season 1 i means this performance Unsuddenly 10 Steve Carell in the Office i means come on no word
HBO's THE LEFTOVERS was a friggin acting olympic arena! Justin Theroux! Carrie Coon! Amy Brenneman! Christopher Eccleston! Regina King! Liv Tyler! Kevin Carroll!
Euphoria had/has all sorts of great performances: Sydney Sweeney, Maude Apatow, Eric Dane, Hunter Schaefer even Alanna Ubach and briefly Paula Marshall in supporting roles.
Great list of Performers 🎭, I agree with all of them, but let's not forget about Sterling k brown as Randal Pearson in this is Us, especially that Memphis episode and the way his character progresses over the season, Top tier 👏
Peter Dinklage should be on that list. Surprised you added Darren Criss (he deserves the spot) and Anthony Starr (possibly not as The Boys is one of the underrated shows in the past decade) 😑
BCS/BB are unsurpassable GOATs. Negans arc is what made the walking dead good again. The leftovers was amazing. JD Pardo as Ez Reyes in Mayans Mc should’ve been on here. Rhea Seehorn should’ve won every award in existence for her role in BCS.
I can't believe Bob Odenkirk got badly snubbed by Lee Jung-Jae what a biased award show. I mean come on, I saw both and It's easy to say who did it better. Anyway, history repeats itself it happened again this year he didn't win. Proof that this is the show which doesn't need any awards to prove it's worth.
There were plenty, performances from Ozark, Breaking Bad, This is Us and plenty more. One show that gets overlooked is American Crime that came on channel 7ABC.
Idk why but it’s always black balled from conversations like this. Maybe because of its plot exposing CIA. maybe because it’s a black centered TV show. We’ll never know 🤷♂️
Great list but it should be bigger because there are other outstanding performances in TV shows of the last decade. Shows I also want to see are True Detective, Fargo, Stranger Things, Chernobyl and Ted Lasso.
