I am also a Utah native with homes in both the northern and southern parts of the state. Utah’s national parks are so exceptional that the state parks and forests are often overlooked. Yet they would be national parks in other states, that are not similarly blessed. Examples, Snow Canyon, Bryan Head, etc. It’s easy to get away from the crowds.

Kevin: Nice selection. You got some of my favorites. My grandfather took me on Jeep Safaris starting when I was 5. I am 67 now. The first time I visited Temple of the Sun, Moon, Goblin Valley, Factory Butte, various Bentonite hills and other unnamed places. In the late 50’s, Grandpa and uncle, had articles that were among the first to document less common arches, the Maze, and much of what is now Canyonlands N.P. They also did a lot in what is now Capitol Reef and many things south. Off the Hole-in-the-Rock road, up Davis Gulch nearly to Lake Powell, is Bement Arch, named after my uncle. In 1996, we went to the Temples to do night photography. This required overland travel as the nice roads did not exist. Anyway, loved your video! My age and different injuries prevent difficult hikes now. So I will get my desert fix from your videos. Thanks and safe travels!

Thank you so much for your videos on Utah! I’m going there this summer so they’ve been very helpful! One thing to note, since April 2022 of this year, you DO need a permit to hike Angel’s Landing. They do a seasonal lottery drawing for those who have applied for the permit, and then they also have a daily permit lottery that you can enter the day before you plan on taking the hike.

I enjoyed your aerial videos. Utah truly is a beautiful state with so many wonderful areas to visit. I've lived in Utah my whole life and have been to 14 of the places you mention on your list. I use to to visit some of these areas as a kid with my family, and we would be the only people around, now, not so much. It is getting harder and harder to find isolation in the wild areas of Utah. I had to smile at the way you pronounced some of the locations, i.e. "Zion", "Uintas" and "Bonneville". Just talk to one of the locals, they will tell you how to pronounce the names correctly. Have fun out there!

Pleasant which is actually smack dab in the center of Utah. In fact it's known as "Hub City" because it's the official center of Utah. I've lived in Coalville for the past 6 years though. Kevin, I've hiked virtually all the Uintae trails. By a wide margin, the most beautiful day hike in the Uintae's is the Allsop Lake Trail. It's an all day grind (16.9 miles) but lots of soil, long flat stretches, and totally doable in a day for a reasonably in shape person. Look at photos of the Allsop Lake Trail on Alltrails. I have no idea why Amethyst Lake Trail gets more love. It shouldn't. Allsop Lake Trail in in a more lush, more steep valley with a meandering river and wildflowers (in summer) the whole way. Truly gorgeous.

Great video. I'm so looking forward to when the Can/US border finally opens up and we're able to do our Utah canyoneering road trips again. Anyway, here are a few more spots you might want to check out. IMO the most scenic canyon I've done would be Pine Creek in Zion. The most enjoyable canyoneering outing was Chambers, followed by Little Bull in the afternoon. And the coolest feature has got to be the rappel through the Golden Cathedral at the end of Neon Canyon.

@@KevinEassa If you don't have climbing or canyoneering gear, I can still think of a few canyons you should do to get that canyoneering experience without needing a rope and harness. First I'd recommend the Dry Fork canyons (Peek-a-boo & Spooky Gulch) near Escalante as a good warmup. If you enjoy those, then Egypt 3 is a nice step up in difficulty that you'll probably enjoy as well. I also highly recommend doing the West Fork of Blue John Canyon at the top, and then funneling down through the lower canyon (Lower Main Fork section) until you reach the big drop/rappel. Then turn around and climb back up canyon the same way you came. Finally, Ding and Dang canyons make a fun outing as well.

And photographer Michael Fatali decided to light a huge stack of pallets inside delicate arch to film the effects for a ‘photo op’ Luckily the park ranger saw the smoke and fire and raced up and arrested Fatali and fined him 15,000 dollars and BANNED him from Arches NP forever. His business basically began to collapse as former clients doubted their pricey photos were real ie contrived and in poor taste. The scars are still in Delicate Arch even after restoration

We love Utah's parks. One of our fav things is hiking the many slot canyons. I want to share one of the less known one, the Upper Red Breaks, near Escalante. Follow the Harris Wash until the trailhead. The canyon splits and you want to take the upper one (the less visited one). You would have to climb out of it before the split in order to get into the upper branch. Too long to describe the route here, please research it. It is a super skinny slot at one section that we could barely pass through it. If you plan it right you can continue hiking at the end to the Cosmic Ashtray. Warning: compass/gps and map or some navigational tool is needed. I rate it as difficult but really fun. It will take a full day to do both. Chances are you would be the only one in the area too. Have fun.

Some of my favorites ☺️ 1: Observation Point in Zions, second highest point in Zions and the view is absolutely beautiful, start early it's a decent hike up. 2: Geodefields in dugway, an empty and secluded bed filled with hundreds of untouched geodes that you can dig up, crack open, and take home. Super cool being able to break open nature geodes. 3: rock Canyon: perfect for rock climbing of all levels and as you hike up there's a few caves you can go inside too. 4: Millcreek Canyon: Personal favorite in the summertime to see beautiful greenery and if you go high enough you can reach dog lake which is a cool treat after a good hike up there

The Parks are receiving record numbers of visitors this year, even without the Europeans. Ps, you might include Buckskin Gulch as all of the trails start in Utah before they hit AZ. Keep 'em coming.

You should check out The Subway at Zion. It's probably my favorite hike/canyoneering experience in all of Utah

Subway is part of The Narrows in Zion so its pretty covered but doesn't sound like he went far enought
@kevinyao0615
@kevinyao0615 2 года назад
@@chrishoppe2714 The Subway and The Narrows are two totally different hikes. They aren't even part of the same river or canyon, Virgin River for The Narrows and Left Fork North Creek for The Subway. The Subway isn't even in the main part of Zion NP, it's part of the Kolob Canyon area of the NP. Trust me, I've done both hikes and the two hikes are VERYYYY different and the Subway is not a part of The Narrows.

I love the video, there are a ton of amazing scenic places throughout Utah. One correction about Mount Olympus- it is within 10 minutes of Salt Lake City as stated in the video. Provo, on the other hand is about 45 minutes south, so it is not within 10 minutes of Provo.

Incredible petroglyphs and the drive through the canyon is absolutely amazing and beautiful. Also, most site's throughout the canyon are reachable to even the novice climber.
