For all the toys that could easily be swallowed or cause choking, it's the parents fault for buying them for kids that are not at the age to know not to put this in my mouth. Some of these toys I had and I never once thought of putting them in my mouth.

For the toys that had a choking or swallowing hazard, I blame the parents, not the toy company. Most likely the toy had an age limit on it and parents ignored it. I have a mature 4 year old boy and a 1 year old girl who puts everything in her mouth. My son does have choking hazard toys. He’s been told they belong in his room and no where else. My daughter isn’t allowed loose in my son’s room. We also watch my daughter very closely around the house. It’s called parenting.

I was a child when the American Girl doll Gwen came out and now as an adult who still collects dolls I find the controversy overblown. The dolls are meant to represent historical and contemporary issues in a way that kids can understand. There are children who are homeless and/or face extreme poverty. That's not their fault. I read the book the character was part of and it wasn't too much for me to understand. It's also worth noting the theme for the limited edition Girl of the Year doll that year was anti-bullying. And someone kicked up a fuss because the story encouraged compassion towards the homeless. So clearly they missed the message.
@FallenPhoenix-ml5mn
@FallenPhoenix-ml5mn 3 месяца назад
Imo thats not much better, maybe because I live in South Africa where crime is insanely high but homeless people here are dangerous and I won't want a toy that encourages kids to go up to them. If they get older for sure you should teach kids empathy and sympathy but only at a age where they can also understand the dangers with it Maybe its different in america but from the documentaries ive seen of Americas homeless camps and the drugs and crime circulating there I would imagine its not more safe therr either.
@metarcee2483
@metarcee2483 2 месяца назад
@@FallenPhoenix-ml5mn The book specifies that she's homeless temporarily because her parents divorced and her mom got custody but her dad got the house, and it's taking them a while to get back on their feet. This book is also set in 2008, and came out in 2009, so the housing crash had just happened.

I had the pregnant midge doll and I found the ban ridiculous. I didn't find anything that seemed like to promote teen pregnancy in it. Besides, Midge is an adult, shes not a teenager. Today i bought a "yowee" candy which is a plastic egg with toy inside, which is inside a chocolate shell. The way the "Choking hazard" was gotten around was that the plastic egg is too BIG to be swallowed by a kid. Another chocolate candy gets around the ban by being in two parts: the hollow chocolate shell AND a separate plastic capsule with rhe toy inside it.

I had some quik clik polly pockets when I was a kid and never had any problems with the magnets in them. I guess I was more careful when playing with them or something.

One product I’m surprised hasn’t been banned or recalled is the Razor Spark Kick Scooter, the one that leaves a shower of sparks as you ride along. Despite this I’ve never seen anyone use one of these scooters and I haven’t seen them in stores recently, but I haven’t found any recent recall notices for them.

A doll for a horror movie looks scary...what a surprise. Well, the question is , why would children, that are not supposed to have seen that film, be interested in this doll? And if they would not be interested in that doll, why would anyone produce this in the first place? If its supposed to be a thing for adult collectors, the scaryness factor should not have been relevant anyways.This raises a little doubt on how good those film rating systems work.

People in comments need to realise that kids are kids!!!!. Of course now that your older all these look like stupid mistakes but guess what... THEY'RE KIDS and you'd do the same too.

Personally, I'm blaming the parents who had these kids. I was a kid too, but I never stuck any of these in my mouth. Though I was also a 90's kid so by the time Magnetix and such were big, I was already smart enough to know that those aren't edible. But I also had parents who raised me on what to put in my mouth. If a kid makes a genuine mistake or decides to "test" the Cabbage Patch doll with their finger - even if it could very well chew their flesh and fingernail off - then...I don't know. Kids are daredevils and experimental. But the parents NEED to tell them that it's not safe to put small objects like magnets into their mouths and that no, Freddy Krueger is NOT a child's thing and was made for older people. Other parents need to learn that age restrictions exist for a reason, so their blank-year-old infant doesn't die because they gave them a toy that wasn't even intended for them. Basically, most were due to bad parenting or overthinking parents (like the AG doll? I don't see the harm, and almost see it more like adopting a homeless girl and giving her love - though if proceeds were sent to homeless charities/people, icing on the cake! I see it as a form of acknowleging that it's a major issue in the world that needs some TLC) or bad business decisions (like making the action figures off a movie that flopped epically). Some were mistakes made with building (hoverboards) and that's all there really is to it. The PokeBalls weren't wrong; They were due to careless parents. Magnetix weren't wrong. Parents didn't teach or watch over their kids. Lawn Darts? Yeah, very risky. But people changed up the game from how it's supposed to be - but I also don't know if kids should be around them either. TLDR: Some people honestly just shouldn't have kids...Most of the time, these toys were not in the wrong. :/

@familyoftacticaldroids309 I agree, but my point isn't that they're good parents, they clearly aren't but mistakes can be made. My point is that the parenting isn't the only factor, the other factor is that they are children. Kids( especially really young ones) will almost never use a toy as intended, they don't read instructions or manuals, they play with them in whatever way they find enjoyable. The parenting should, of course, be criticised depending on the situation but the acts of the child should not be a surprise, obvious chocking hazards shouldn't be bought buy they're targeted to kids so yeah a lot of blame to be thrown around

Mini Hammock or Rock N’ Play Sleeper? The narrate for kept referring to a “Mini Hammock” that was recalled in the late 80s & early 90s because kids were getting tangled and trapped. But what you showed was a Rock an’ Play sleeper which was popular much more recently and recalled because babies were dying of position asphyxiation.

My sister and I grew up with Lawn Darts. My sister got a Sky Dancer for Christmas. I had MANY of the toy guns, though they were always of a bright neon color. And yes, I can see how these things could be extremely dangerous. Though, through proper parental supervision, my sister and I came out of our extremely dangerous childhood alive and mostly uninjured(I say mostly because one day we were playing in the park with plastic boomerangs(the super hard neon plastic ones), and the one and only time the things ever returned that day, was when I had thrown it and my sister took off to chase it. And it came back and struck her in the face and she needed stitches).

10:40 These remind me of those guns they used for those three shooting video games for the Famicom that were exclusive in Japan only, and it's a good thing it didn't come with bullets. The gun was used to shoot on the TV Screen. It's also good thing we have the Zapper that is orange and white just like the one Captain N used in his cartoon. The Zapper was released in overseas for the NES for those three shooting games: Duck Hunt, Hogan's Alley, and Wild Guns. And the Zapper was appropriate for all ages back then, because it's a laser gun.
