Maaan, at least Gildo Horn's on here but Stefan Raab's "Wadde hadde dudde da" in 2000 was far more *WTF* worthy than Gildo's performance (especially regarding the lyrics) 😂 I urge everyone to check it out.

Greece's "Alcohol is Free" chorus was actually pretty nice. Because the song included history, myths, geographic locations, and it was definitely not about alcohol, rather, I would say, stereotypes about how Greeks are perceived, the chorus was the only thing that non-Greek-speaking people would understand.

Lordi was my gateway drug into Eurovision when my wife (who's from Greece) showed it to me. Now I'm obsessed and regret nothing!

Rambo Amadeus is genius. His Songs are mostly exactly like Euro nerd. My favorite is “too old for rock and roll, to dumb for jazz”. The guy is solid. And I think everyone knows about Lordi - less “WTF” and more a pop version of GWAR, I love their songs .. and their videos and concerts are top notch.

Can we talk about how this is one of the very FEW times where a channel making a recap of Eurovision songs has actually said that Rodolfo El Chikilicuatre was actually a comedic character? Thank you WatchMojo. And the same with My Slowianie, a lot of people take it way too seriously when it's supposed to be a fun song. Btw the narrator's pronunciation for most names is really good as well (for the ones I know how to pronounce at least).

i loved Rembo Amadeus) the same year i also loved the austrian band with "woki mit dem popo", they also didn't make the finals and also were a little WTF, but not enough comparing with montenegro xD

Fun fact: El Chiki-Chiki was a parody song that Spain send in protest. We were quite fed-up with all the political nonsense and neighbor-voting in eastern europe. Humor, parody and such are our bread and butter, so, when the time came, we just send this man. He was a character on the Andreu Buenafuente late-night show (the woman in the pink lycra dress is Silvia Abril, Buenafuente's actual wife and also former character of his show, The Child of Shrek...yes, that was her name XD). In fact, it worked better than we expected, and he's quite the recurrent thing to say when we don't like our Eurovision representative ("just send Chikiliquatre again!!"). The best part is, after the show, and due to the background of this character (late night show character, as I said), he announced his retirement, with the national newspapers saying that Buenafuente was going to kill him... He didn't, but Rodolfo (our pal, dear Rodolfo 9_9) left the studios in a hearse. XDDDD

If you want to include acts from this year, Latvia’s Citi Zeni, Serbia’s Konstrakta, and Norway’s Subwoolfer would have made this.

2014 had some really weird songs... or more so stage props. Poland had a laundry lady of course, but Greece had a trampoline :D

Verka's Lasha tumbai nonsensical lyrics were actually intended to sound like Russia Goodbye without making political statements.

Lasha Tumbai is now performed as ( I want to see) Russia Goodbye..... and what I still miss in both your top 10 and 20 is Silvia Night with " Congratulations " for Iceland 2006. And now we are a year further Let's hope Israel learns from there 2000 and 2009 mistake "There never be another way" !!

The whole point of Eurovision is that it is bonkers. Sure, occasionally a half decent song slips through, but it is all about being silly and having some fun. No one would be remotely interested in watching it otherwise.

When my brother and sister in law first moved out into a massive share house with a bunch of friends, "Dancing Lasha Tumbai" was played all night at the housewarming party. Ever since then it became a tradition to play it at every party that was had, and usually the night ended with a bunch of twenty somethings doing a drunk rendition of just the chorus, as that was the only part of the song everyone knew. 😂

The positive takeaway from this list is that countries have started to take the contest a lot more serious again in the past couple of years. The 00s and early 10s period was absolute carnage.

“Flying the Flag” is so f*cking embarrassing 🤦🏼‍♀️ we really voted for that song to be our entry that year as well… wtf were the other songs like if that was our best one? 😭

LT United was basically Lithuania saying "f it, we will never win anyway, let's just have some fun". If I recall we didn't even pick what was going to the Eurovision. There was a local show that was meant to pick out the contestant but everyone was so bad that it was just decided to group up the better known musicians and send a joke entry

some good choices from this year would be Georgia and Norway of course, maybe San Marino, but also SERBIA! bit bit bit biti zdrava!

Verka Serduchka's "Dancing Lasha Tumbai" imho is almost as iconic for the contest as Abba's "Waterloo" from 1974, "Mr. ESC" Johnny Logan or the chanson beginnings in black & white that seemed to come from a totally different universe. Did anybody notice the resemblance of the song's title to "Russia, Goodbye!"? What a fantastic, ingenious entry!

And here we see why the American Song Contest was such a snooze. Only Wyoming and Portland understood the assignment (and Oklahoma and Kentucky's songs were nice, at least).

A WTF moment was the Icelandic song from 2019. It was good but strange too watch except you love SM

Fun fact, the Latvian song Wolves of the Sea has been "adopted" by a metal band called Alestorm that uses the pirate theme on their songs

Maaan, those songs from Romania are two of the most iconic of all time from the country. Yes, the kiss from Yodel It was akward and fun, but the song was catchy and unusual, and the same can be said for Cezar’s song. Moreover, in Eurovision you have 2 options: A good song that can touch a lot of people in 3 minutes( like Portugal in 2017) ,or a song that is completely unusual and funky and makes you wonder some thing(Like Israel from 2018).

The eurovision song contest has always been cheesy, kitsch and camp as hell. It's basically a grand old time for the gay crowd which for whatever reason is incredibly fun for everyone watching. Many of those watching from outside of Europe will have no idea what's going on half the time but again, that's all part of the fun.

You should also make top 20 (no, top 200) beautiful songs performed at Eurovision that everyone should hear. The thing I love the most about the contest is that artists get to perform songs in their native language. This year we have songs in Lithuanian, Breton, Icelandic, Serbian, Ukrainian etc. How wonderful (and not wtf at all) is that? Eurovision is not only about "wtf" songs and performances. Videos like this one make it look like it is. There is nothing wrong with this video, but you should also show the other side of the contest. Thanks in advance, I am sure you're gonna do it😉 (although I know that mocking something is more interesting for your viewers... which is sad and topic that could be discussed for days). P.S. I'd like to add a few facts here: - Verka Serduchka's song, written by Verka's performer Andrej Danilko, actually caused controversy in Russia, because they thought "I wanna see Lasha tumbai" sounds too much like "I wanna see Russia good bye", something Danilko never wanted to sound, as it is just nonsense without offending anyone. Apparently for some time his performances in Russia were limited at that time. But it was actually discussed in the after-show with Andrej Malakhov on First Russian Television. - Guildo Horn is indeed a parody Schlager singer but to add a little extra: The song was written by comedian, songwriter, creative director etc. Stefan Raab under the pen name "Alf Igel", which is a parody reference to songwriter "Ralph Siegel", the one who wrote many songs for the ESC, who created "Dschinghis Khan" and wrote the first winning song for Germany, "Ein bisschen Frieden" by Nicole, back in 1982. Ironically Stefan Raab produced the second winning song for Germany, "Satellite" by Lena Meyer-Landrut. - Ralph Siegel also wrote a song for San Marino called "Facebook Uh oh oh", a song that didn't made it into the finales but also was not allowed originally due to commercial names in the song, which is not allowed. Therefore it was changed to "The Social Network Song". Which didn't really make it better.

Lordi entered the right year. That year the ESC was known as the most naked Eurovision because so many countries had people in practically underwear dancing and singing on stage. People were fed up seeing that in a family show.

Whoever wrote this doesn't know much about Eurovision. Spain 2008 placing 16th and Poland 2014 placing 14th is actually very respectable for those songs are.

Dancing Lasham tumbai was very popular that year. The esc is hard for non-Europeans to understand because others just don't have the culture or ethnic background or history etc.

I really liked "We Are The Winners." Whether they really did think that approach would work or they were just pranking everyone... it is in the spirit of Eurovision (at least that particular year).

Yodel it is one of my favourite Eurovision songs of all time.

I love Lordi ever since I got shown a video by a friend of them performing in Eurovision. Also for this years (2022) song contests should be worth of a mention who’s IMO are Serbia, Norway, Latvia and Moldova.
