Here are the TOP 21 Isometric Bodyweight Exercises!
These 21 work the entire body effectively without a single piece of equipment. For those new to isometric training, this style of exercise involves static muscle contractions held for time.
This exercise approach is very effective at activating and recruiting muscle fibers every where in the body and can be done in warm ups or used as your entire workout.
If you don't have access to weights or a gym, this is great training when traveling or at home. It's also great if you're short on time, you can do an isometric workout in just 10 minutes!
You can STILL gain strength, burn calories and sweat like crazy if you do these movements properly.
Begin by holding each isometric bodyweight exercise for 10 seconds. Do sets of 3 reps at 10 seconds. From there you can add time OR add sets to make the workout harder.

I started to put some isometric exercises into my workout and man do they work. I stopped lifting weights for a few weeks just to see if I could get some muscle soreness after isometric exercises and I sure did. My lats today feel like I gave them a huge work out and all I do was laid flat against the wall, put my arms up as if I was gonna do a lat pull and push against the wall.

@@Criticalbench Ok,I will try to remember! I've been doing isometrics on and off for 2-3 years and restarted rather recently. I'm an older lady with low energy due to blood sugar issues and it's become hard fir me to do other types of exercises so Isometrics are perfect for me. For aerobics I do the 10 min. HIIT, usually on my gazelle or using just 3 lb. dumbbells but sometimes I don't even get around to do that regularly, but the isometrics give me a chance to do "something" that I can handle more often. I may not be in "great shape" (yet!) but I believe that at least I'm doing something positive for my health.😉 P.S. Thanks for the 💜. 😊

Just a thought. I have a suggestion for those asking 'how long' to hold each of the exercises shown. I have a pool side routine, with a partner, where the length of holding the isometric exercise is tied to the time it takes your partner to swim 100 meters at a 'maintenance speed' (not to exceed 150 seconds). I think that it's just a good way to mix static-dynamic routine for either the warm-up or the recovery phase of your workout. (ps: not a professional trainer and/or sports science graduate- just someone who enjoys swimming, bodyweight exercises, and watching videos posted by Critical Bench).

I put the playback speed at 2.0 so I may have missed the ROTATOR CUFF isometrics. You know, elbow by the side, elbow at right angle and push your hand out and away from the body and the reverse of pulling the hand in towards the middle of the body. Did I also miss the lateral raise to the side? While you're in the doorway, put your arms down by your sides and against the door jamb and push. There's usually a reverse exercise that can be done for such exercises, too. But, that # 5 and Superman # 6 are killers for me.

Exercising and great nutrition will help with bone density loss. Being female one of the best things you can do is include weight training exercises to help prevent/ slow down bone density loss. Check out this video for a great & simple to follow dumbbell workout: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-B7AJ0mYB3aA.html

That "no pain no gain" concept is outdated and very dangerous. Of course, I'm sure you were exaggerating for fun. It is generally recommended to hold each position from 5-7 seconds (but I've seen up to 10 seconds) and to do just 2-3 sets.
