To honor the 23rd anniversary of the band, BYZANTINE has collected the fans favorite riffs spanning their last 6 albums. What is YOUR favorite BYZ riff of all-time? Leave your answer in the comment below!
My new favorite band for the last 10 years. I tell every Metal head I meet about The Byz but, the funny thing is, no one has ever heard of the greatest metal band out of Charleston, WV…or the world! 🤘🏼🤘🏼🎶🎶🔥🔥😁😊
OJ, you should list out or post in video form your personal favorite riffs. I'd be curious to hear from the insider's perspective what you think to be the best Byz riffery. I'd have picked different riffs even from within the songs that people chose, so it's cool to see the diversity of opinion in terms of what people enjoy. For instance, for Sin Remover I'd have voted for the riff towards the end after the clean break that alternates between the open chugs and that octave chord (if that makes sense).
That riff does indeed rule. Maybe we do another list in 2 years for the 25th anniversary. But... we will have another album to throw in the mix, won't we!
As I start video: If the top 5 riffs aren't from Caldera, I'm firing the fans :P That breakdown is one of the GREATEST Damn riffs of all time, I was on a family trip, driving... was listening to their entire Byz catalog for the first time, and that breakdown hit, I yell DAMN! My wife says... "WHAT'S WRONG!?" This FUGGIN Breakdown! Stank face engaged. 2 words. Brutal.
"Fans"... You're fired. Clean misses on Caldera's riffs at 3:02 , 3:24 & 4:03 . I mean sweet baby jesus on a pogo stick... Where are you people? lol In all seriousness, LOVE Your work OJ, some of the best riffs in metal and SHOCKED at how underappreciated you guys are.
I can’t believe Dead As Autumn Leaves didn’t end up higher, definitely one of the best outros of all time. Always reminded me of the ending section from Opeth’s Harlequin Forest, could listen to it for days
For me, it's absolutely impossible to choose one favorite - because they are all united in one big Byz puzzle! The only thing i can say definitely - it's my favorite band: a lot of strong ideas and imaginations, what makes me come back to their work every time. It's like a good book that you reread and discover something new.
A lot of people who voted didn't state which riff from thr song they were voting for; for example one of my votes was for Sin Remover, but for the chorus riff which crawls all over the place.
