Humans are merely mortals that will eventually be consumed by time and are likely to die to each other, but his cure makes us immune to age and makes our brains so ignorant we wont know how to use guns or weapons, or even attack each other. We wont even need to eat or sleep, which is why being cured by 049 sucks. It makes our lives meaningless.

ANIMA 51 Plague Doctors were a real thing during the Black Plague, the SCP story of this plague doctor however, is fake. The Plague Doctors back then only had terrible medicine or bad treatments, they didn't kill you with one touch and bring you back as a zombie.
More like that the human concept of age is completely irrelevant. It would line up with his response to "Are you immortal?" being "Son't be silly" Age can't technically be infinite, but one can be Immemorial, more or less stating you've been in existence either as long as Time itself, or possibly longer.

@@UnfamiliarIntimacy Ive seen it. Ive seen family and friends turn inside out literally and its scary because they have no control over it when it happens. All my fault though because I was the one that brought it out of them. I was very heavily on drugs and I was at breaking point a point of no return if I continued to do drugs. So it was as if my demon inside me was telling their demon to give me a scare by turning themselves inside out. I now know more about the world and the hidden worlds with in. Im still learning and trying to learn more without hurting others or throwing anyone under the bus if yous know what I mean.

@Dylan Lockhead But the first months after its "capture" a doctor, whom's name I sadly do not remember, kinda worked with it together, to figure out what the pestilence is supposed to be and how to cure it. Scp 049 said it could not feel the pestilence in the doctors, but after a few months it killed the doctor and tried his "cure" on him. Later it was in disstress and looked remorsefull, because it apperantly liked the doctor and was shocked, since the pestilence hid so well. You cannot tell me, that he did not comprehend, that the doctor and the Site- Staff were humans.

He is from the beginning and the end. They already asked him a bunch of dumb questions about the pestilence, he's probably just getting annoyed at this point XD. He has no age, no time. To him, everything is happening right now, in the future and in the past at the exact same time.

Morbus 523 he did have on at some point, but then he detected the pestilence in the doctor that allowed him to experiment, and killed him. (He was also quite close with this doctor, and did feel remorse after his death, although he doesnt want to admit that)

Tobben Jees Hes death. Remember what the reasercher said? Black robes? Eloquent speech? His touch? Hes been called by many names in many languages. Putting the pieces together throughout the game, The foundation and even this it is clear the 'Pestilence' is not a disease at all but in fact our mortality. Our flesh and our impurities. Also not he says hes come to like his mask meaning he didnt always HAVE it. This means he can change his form even if it be slight, which would allow him to fit and make up the variety of images depicting death throughout the ages.

Pyro Paragon it seems more like degration of genetic material in living tissue is his problem- it's what causes your hair to become gray, your muscles to be less effective, your skin to be saggy- and ultimately your organs to become too weak to stay stable.
Out of all the SCPs, this one is my all time favorite. Because i feel like he has more connection with other SCPs that are just like him. The fact that him and 035 go waaaaay back just amazes me. I love them both, but the Plague doctor is my favorite.

I absolutely love these videos, they show that some of the SCP's contained within the SCP Foundation aren't really all that bad, and some can be just as emotional as we humans are. It gives us more understanding of the SCP's and how they have goals and agendas similar to that of humans as well. I also like how some SCP's have "attractions" to others, such as SCP-049 is attracted to SCP-035, and SCP-682 is friendly with SCP-079 etc. and it shows that they are intelligent enough to form emotional attachments like humans.

A lot of people think 049 is a terrible creature. But he said he can roam around as he pleases. If he can and was evil he would have purged the entire facility. meaning he does have some humility towards life although that's what he wants to cure. he doesn't fully do That. Why?

I thought 049's plan for humanity was to end the concept of evil, he lies in moral grey, he doesn't harm younger people, and I think that people he doesn't hurt are really good people
Nathaniel Therrien well as much as Volgun voiced the character in the original, I feel Volgun doesn't put emotion into his narrative like Sixxy does. but i respect your opinion.

Dystroyer Maybe the disease is the “soul,” or something similar like a person’s good conscience. Since it’s likely many Foundation scientists have suppressed their good conscience to deal with the horrible things they do, that would explain why 049 doesn’t sense the disease in them.

According to what he answered on one of the first questions, his "plague" isn't humans, its human mortality, or, death, and his cure is a form of death and reanimation to make humans immortal. Death has always been from the beginning, yes, although I do find sense into your theory as he say hes been with the plague beside it since the beginning, attempting to cure it. He wears black robes, but this does not mean much, as plague doctors from medieval times wore similar robes. *Edit*: It appears to be you might be right in some parts. I have kept looking into the video and realized he is immortal, and knowing. In the question about his language and knowledge of these, he answers, and I quote *"I communicate how your human brain assumes I will sound. Beyond that, my native tongue is beyond your comprehension."* This could mean he comes from the realm of God, knowing a language we humans did not even know existed. A language only the holy and unholy know, one that us mortals will never know until the time of the afterlife. *Edit 2*: He also confirms he is of supernatural origin as he does not require basic human or organic needs, like food or rest. And although it could mean he acquires energy through some other form I am more leaning to believe he is supernatural. He hints at this even more saying, and I quote *"My existence is merely what I allow you to perceive."* This could mean that he might be a type of corrupt angel or holy figure, such as Satan or one of his devils, not allowing the human eye, and brain, a full view of its characteristics and features.
My point of view is completely different, and that is what makes SCP-049 so interesting to me. The only point I think the same way of is that their plague is not humanity but mortality, or in other words, death. They said they've existed since the beginning, and the cure they provide is something that ensures natural death never to come so, in a way, I think they're Life or a life bringer of some sorts (being the latter more understandable and logical tho). I know applying the cure to someone makes them die, but that's temporal and the life it creates afterwards is (kind of) eternal, since the only way zombies die is by taking action against them. A reason that lead me to believe this is that everytime they ask if a certain disease is "his plague" they answer: "it's a symptom of a much larger pestilence" or something along those lines. Sickness is something that can lead to death, is a symptom of mortality, so by giving an eternal life (not inmortality since that would mean "unkillable" and 049 produces killable zombies) they can cure "the plague". Another thing that pointed me that way is when they talk about humans fearing their cure and "the sitng of a needle's breach". What they mean about that is the fact humans shun death and are fearful of becoming zombies since that would require to die. SCP-049 want to bring eternal life and end the plague that mortality is.
Mortality itself is not the pestilence, it is a symptom. The pestilence is not like any usual disease every disease you know of is only a symptom of it.
I first thought he meant "Death", and he would cure people off it by creating SCP-049-2. On the other hand i read something about emotion. Emotions could be also very much be the greatest plague in any kind of creature. Just from a human perspective, Emotions caused death, war, destruction and pain. They hinder us from making good progress sientifically and i guess that is what he tries to get rid of. Creating emotionless zombies, referred to SCP-049-2, is "not the perfect cure" as he states himself, "but it's a cure."
Hes not even evil!, He is cursed With a Terrible Job he has to do and Clearly Has Sympathy for people. Even 035 said that something Happend to a young boy who was Vary sick and something happened and 049 Screamed And was never the same again.

I found it interesting that Geth (semi-sentient synthetic beings) don't have the disease he speaks of, but that "something similar lingers"... it's possible the disease is sentience itself. Self-awareness.
Doesn't really fit his described personality. It says he's polite and glad to talk to other doctors. Also hes specifically stated that he came into existence in the 1500s. Also the question "are you ready to remove the plague mask" is kinda dumb, since his entire outfit is part of his biology

Or he's quite sensitive to his age. Some very powerful and unique beings do have peculiar protectiveness of age. You can even say that its an absolute insult.
I think he is disappointed in the doctors. Disappointed that, after everything he told them, they are still clinging to simple human classifications like age. SCP-049 mentioned that he exists beyond our understanding. Time, and therefore age too, are merely features of our human perception of reality. His reality, and that of all SCPs in fact, extends far beyond ours, so asking an advanced being like SCP-049 about its age would be the equivalent to asking a Nobel Prize winner about what 1+1 equals. Humanity is childish.
It seems like he is always reffering to our last breath or death, and he's so damn good at understanding on what we don't understand like when he said "SCPS is that what you call them?" then says the exact purpose of SCP, securing something we humans don't understand... I have a feeling he's knowledge and understanding to ALL kinds of plagues even dating back to the very past seems like he was always been there, He said he's NOT immortal which is true, but he laughed when the doctor asked the "are you immortal" question... I believe he laughed because the doctor behind the screen was slightly close to the question... but not immortal. He said he is from the beginning and the end, he is a time traveler capable of controlling his age, hunger and thirst that is why the doctor sounds so ancient... Ask him if he is a time traveler next time.
I watched the interview with "god" and it seems to be more to do with being "eternal" rather than "immortal" in both cases, the differences between synonymous words really becomes important in these characters.

I think the pestilence is aging, aging itself can be considered a disease. He killed the interviewer because he noticed they were aging. 049's purpose is noble or grotesque, depending on perspective. He wants to grant humanity immortality yet all he creates are monsters. He himself is immortal and watching humans die around him perhaps led him to insanity. But could this be considered insanity? He may be afraid that every person he grows close to will eventually perish, so as he sees them age, he kills them on spot.
Cipronix the reason for his insanity is from back when he and 035 (the mask) were travelling together , and they came across a little boy who was hurt. 049 tried to save him but then something hapenned and 049 screamed. Thats when he was never the same again, and thats where 035 got his black fluids from. (049 was wearing him)
