TOP 25 Best Arcade games 80s and 90s

I grew up in the "golden era" of arcades, which began with Space Invaders and Asteroids in 78/79, saw many great titles over the next few years such as Tempest, Donkey Kong, PacMan, Ms PacMan, Galaga, Centipede, Pole Position, Defender and Frogger, and pretty much ended with Mario Bros and the game crash of '83. By '85, many arcades had disappeared, and games centered mostly on fighting, shooting and racing. I never cared much for Raidon and Mortal Kombat type games, and didn't play games much generally again until the mid-90s when VooDoo graphics cards started bringing some really amazing stuff to PCs, such as Unreal. When MAME came on the scene, it presented a great opportunity to revisit the old arcade titles, but I found myself gravitating back to golden era classics, evidence that nostalgia is all about what you grew up with.

Funny, until now, I never noticed how while playing Afterburner while in Afterburner, you still get passed by inferior jets that were not in afterburner.

Too bad, i don't know the name of Arcade game. Where is three man, rescuering beautiful blonde from gangsters. In their Lair. I remember, one hero was wearing blue suit and have a white hair style. Second, afro-american, wearing black glasses and red shorts with suspender (he look like a boxer). And third, was wearing a green jacket and have a perfect Feet attack.

Mario brothers and super Mario brothers are definitely better than some of these 80s and 90s alter beast another one.

We used to get our dopamine fix from arcade games. Now we get it from smartphones

i cant remember the name of the game that we use to play back in the arcade in the 90's there use to be 4 character .. you can do the prince a woman a big guy like a knight and the old man ... if you hit two fw and A button then special attack .. and you had to change the power up every now and thing ... man cant remember the game

I can't remember name of that video game which I used to play in video games shop. The character is running in like slow motion throwing laser and can jump really high. The character can later shoot with circles of stars. The big boss villain seems to be like a Hindu goddess doll. Who jumps like after few seconds when attacked on head. I think one fight happens at statue liberty.

I dont remember seeing mega man x in the arcade. It was never a arcade game it was released on Snes in 1993

Megaman X on a arcade machine? I never saw that before...and some of the footage is not from the arcade version, also you shouldnt use footage from other channels like the part of AvP, thats so low.

i have to strongly disagree with this list most of these games are fun but i wouldnt exactly conisder them to be the top 25 games i feel like they should have included games like ms pac man and donkey kong in there and datona usa and star wars trilogy arcade mega man isnt even on the arcades it was nintendo

m trying to find a game I played in the 80s. It was a top view & In it your character went up the screen & the weapon you had looked like you were waving white handkerchief in front of you. If you missed the enemy it would stick to you & slow you down for a while. When you got to the 'Big Boss' at the end of the stage he was like this massive red buddah/demon looking guy at the top of the screen who would fire down lightning bolts at you. Can anyone remember this?? Ive looked at all the 'classic 80s Games' clips on RU-vid & its nowhere to be found.

That Megaman X is not an arcade game 😂 it was on SNES or Super Famicom then on PS1. That’s a joke. Toki is a freaking weird game a chimp that shoots out pellets from his mouth? The Ultimate Gouls and Goblins as you can see on the intro is 2006. A reboot by Capcom with better graphics. Not sure if this should fit in the retro??
