Kings field is awesome. Totally underrated. Also someone's saying something about lag, nah man the game just moves that slow it's not performance issues. All the kings field games were like that same with eternal ring and shadow tower.
Xenosaga III is such an amazing game. When I played through the series for the first time, after beating Episode II I was very wary of Episode III(and Episode II isn’t a bad game by any stretch but it’s combat was so drastically different from Episode I and SUPER cumbersome. And did I really wanna just experience that kinda thing again, but for $300? Idk). Especially when the cheapest copy I could find that had the original case and artwork was just above $300 at my local retro game store. At work that whole pay period I was really iffy. But I looked at what people thought of the game online and everyone seemed to love it or like it, so I bought it and I’m so glad I did.
Ever since the COVID lockdown I got this wild urge to beat JRPGs I played as a kid but never beat, or never played at all. Since then I’ve completed: -FFIX(beautiful story, and amazing character development. made me cry) -FFVIII(really good. Dislike draw. But trip.Tri baby) -Shadow Hearts(good. translation quality, meh) -Shadow Hearts: Covenant(very good) -Tales of Symphonia(Love it!! So dark!!) -Tales of Vesperia(phenomenal. SO. DARK!!) -SMT: Nocturne HD(hard AF! SOOO. DAAAARK!) -Xenogears(Existential dread intensifies. Right up my ally. AND SO! DAAAAAAAARK!!) -Parasite Eve(Great game. Love the story and combat) -Xenosaga Ep. I(See Xenogears) -Xenosaga Ep. II(combat and character models, meh. See Xenogears) -Xenosaga Ep. III(Closing the ‘Saga on a strong note love it. See Xenogears) -Odin Sphere(fun as hell. Beautiful art direction. Solid game) And a few others I’m blanking on right now, and that’s doing something like an 85% completion playthrough. Most of the side quests and getting ultimate weapons, kicking the shit out of option dungeons and bosses. Well still keeping up with modern releases and playing some of those. We had way too much free time in 2020-2021, didn’t we? 😬 Then there’s still this massive intimidating backlog I’m slowly chipping away at. Yet for some reason I’m constantly looking for more games to add to this already massive list like an insane person. In a way, I’m kinda glad the lockdowns happened because if they hadn’t I might never have decided to dig out my PS2(or play PS4 re-releases or PSClassics on PS3) and experience such amazing games. Ironically, most are games that at the time when they originally released, I refused to touch because I was kind of a Final Fantasy elitist and if an JRPG looked SUUUPER anime or had cover art that appeared to cheerful or light hearted I just wouldn’t give it the time of day. Though, that was also kind of a blessing because playing a JRPG as an Adult is such a vastly different experience than as a 10-13 year old. With complex thematic concepts, and stories, and in-depth combat systems I didn’t have the attention span or patience for. JRPGs are waaaay better playing them as an adult.
It depends on what type of game you're looking for but a good place to start is lukie game's it's online only but I think it's good enough for me anyway🤔☀️
I was lucky and got a lot of these when the released and just never got rid of them haha now days id say use PCSX2 or mod a phat ps2 with a hard drive and run them off that
Suikoden 5 is like the 3rd best game for that series. The order goes.. 2nd, 1st, 5th, 3rd and 4th as far as gameplay. That being said, suikoden 2 is a top 7 game on many lists.
damn, loved playing Champs of Norrath, Dark Cloud 2, Valkyrie Profile, Wild Arms 3, Dragon Quest, but my fave was Shadow Hearts Covenant, damn that was a brilliant Game. The third game sadly was not as good as Covenant, but not too bad. Alongside that, FF 12, damn, one of the few RPG's i actually have replayed multiple times, and for me is the best FF game ever made, though FF9 and FF7 are not too far behind. And lets be very honest, Fran was and still is the hottest Viera/bunny girl ever, heheh. And maybe a bit off topic, but I wanted to mention the Front Mission games as well, specially 2, though i know that was a PS1 game, but one of my fave tactical mech RPG's ever.
IVE BEEN A GAMER FOR MANY YEARS. I FIRST STARTED PLAYING GAMES WAY BACK IN THE 1960S, BACK THEN IT WAS JUST A BAT AND BALL AND A PLASTIC TYPE OF CONSOLE IF YOU CAN CALL IT THAT HOOKED UP TO THE OLD BLACK AND WHITE TV. BACK THEN I THOUGHT IT WAS BRILLIANT. OK, SOME OF MY FAVOURITES WOULD BE SUIKODEN 2, THAT IS MY FIRST CHOICE. AFTER THAT MY OTHER FAVOURITES ARE IN NO ORDER WHICH ARE ROGUES GALAXY, DRAGON QUEST 8, DARK CLOUD, DARK CLOUD 2 WHICH WE CALL HERE DARK CHRONICLE, FINAL FANTASY 7, ARK, GRANDIA 2, WILD ARMS , WILD ARMS 2, WILD ARMS 3 AND I AM YET TO PLAY WILD ARMS 5. SOME OTHER OLDIES I USED TO LIKE ARE EQUINOX, MARIO ALL STARS, DONKEY KONG COUNTRY, ALTERIER IRIS 3 AND STAR OCEAN 2. I AM PLAYING STAR OCEAN 2 NOW AND I AM UNABLE TO BEAT THE LAST BOSS, I DONT MIND LEVELING UP BUT IT HAS GOTTEN TO THE POINT NOW WHERE I THINK IM GOING TO HAVE TO MOVE ON TO ANOTHER GAME, MY PATIENCE IS WEARING THIN. YOUR VOICE IS PLEASANT AND GOOD FOR GAMING REVIEWS LIKE THIS. I AM GLAD YOU DONT SPEAK TOO FAST LIKE A LOT OF REVIEWERS DO.
my ps2 top 5list in order 1. Valkyrie Profile Silmeria 2. FF 12 3. Dark Cloud 4. DQ 8 5. Shadow Hearts 1 Also does Rogue Galaxy remind anyone else of infinite undiscovery? literally looks like it was made by the same exact team
that was a good video, i finally got xenosaga 3 after all these years but it was the jp version, i was so upset, now i have to buy another one, dammit, but i might learn japanese later. i played a lot of these final fantasy 12 was fun, wild arms 3 is a classic, these are great games, thanks man!
Super underrated loved the first one better because of how you can equipped weapons and you were able to see your character grow and change everything it became powerful
I've played about 10 games of the list, finished 5, 3 of them on 100% achievement score - 550 hours on FFXII, another 550 hours on The Rogue Galaxy, 1200 hours on Persona 3. I guess I wouldn't have time for this now with job and kid, but you have to kill the time somehow when you're in prison 😅
@@Alltimefox you need to go through the game a few times to max it out, to have all social links and personas, you carry your progress to the next playthrough. It's impossible to achieve it by playing the game once. I went through the entire game 4 or five times, taking my time in evolution of my personas, plus I've played The Answer after - and that many hours is the total. Still have saves on my PS2 memory card
I just say this because it comes up so often, but in the word "development" (and "develop", "developer" etc), the emphasis/stress is on "vel". It's deVELopment"
Just watching gameplay of Kingsfield you can tell that it's laggy af. Like he pressed the attack or movement input then it happens 3 seconds later. There's just no getting used to that
Valkyrie Profile 2 should be put among the 3 top IMO. The game mechanics and gameplay are amazing. The plot is intense and the characters, even the companions, have an interesting and intriguing background. About the soundtracks: simply perfect! Play it before you die.
Soooooo........ I have ordered a Steam Deck. Having never played a JRPG or any RPG I am looking for something that will instruct me and teach me the mechanics. Obviously it will also get me engaged with the whole genre. I will be running all the Emulators so the game choice is wide spread. I want something engaging and informative with a storyline that engages me. Most of the stuff I'm getting is for the PS2 but anything that runs on the Steam Deck I would consider. Thanks anyone who has any input into this.
That's what you and the youtuber are saying, but I played both and there's no comparison In all ways FF12 is superior. And even Persona 3 is better than 4. That's just another video of "excluding final fantasy games" because FF IS the best JRPG fhanchise ever. You shoud be the one who's crying.
@@iaraabreu2147absolutely agree with the "persona 3 better than 4" part, if P3 is 10/10 then P4 is maybe 5/10 on the same scale. I know what I'm talking about, I've played P3 for total of 1200 hours (including The Answer). And P4 is just a total childish crap after this. But I kinda disagree with comparing FF series with any Persona game, it's completely different ballpark. Apples and oranges.
@@gantas6804 I understand your point, but the video scores a top 10 of best PS2 RPG games, all mixed and, in comparison of story, graphics, and overall, FF12 is superior to Persona 4 and even Persona 3. I love all games, but I'm realistic enough to see the obvious. The video is just a bait for creating discussions and get views.
