Download an emulator on ur cell phone Download some roms Play whenever u have some extra time (going to work, when in the bathroom... or on a Saturday morning!)
@@CarecaRetrogamerexactly, most these roms people pine for exist in rerelease packages, if visiting sites is scary for you. People just miss being 12 and not needing a job. All the movies, games and music of the 90s are more easily available than ever. Shame our responsibilities have changed.
Castle of Illusion was my Genesis bundle pack in 1990 and it was absolutely mind blowing, there was no other platformer visually on its level at the time, nor sound wise. Only Sonic went on to beat its visuals a year later and even that game borrowed elements from Castle of Illusion. A true masterpiece I will forever hold dear.
Good video, thanks for the upload. I would personally add some other titles to your list: Pirates of Dark Water, Shinobi series, Golden Axe series especially third installment, Robocop vs Terminator, MK series, Doomtroopers and much more. Have a good one!
Pixel art is really a form of art. Those games look nice even today. Flink surprised me with the most beautiful pixel art of the list, reminding me to Adventures of Lomax for PS1.
Well it's the same artist. Dunno how they were they able to cram so much detail in a Genesis game with little to no compromises in quality. The production value is almost unmatched
I thought the cd version of Flink would be much better, but for me it's basically the same. Maybe it contains some animated cutscenes.@@vincenzomottola7778
Very well done! Looking at this video just reminds me how special the Sega Genesis was. These games were and are beautiful, well crafted masterpieces that offered pure fun way before the practice of shipping incomplete games and microtransactions tried to kill the hobby. I definitely have to add Rocket Knight Adventure and Earthwork Jim 1, 2 & Specials Edition to the list as well as modern classics like Pier Solar, Xeno Crisis and the tour de force that is Paprium.
Maybe I missed these, but if not, I really think they belong in the Top 25. Lost World: Jurassic Park (Honestly does some of the most impressive graphical effects on the Genesis/MD), Strider.. (This blew me away, and I owned a Neo•Geo AES before Strider hit my Genssis!. :) ), Mickey Mania (Very nice graphics. It didn't play as tightly as Castle of Illusion, but the graphics were more impressive IMO. The rotating tower effect, excellent, as was the bonus stages, where Mickey is running towards the screen with a cool rolling 3D effect, and finally, Batman & Robin.. Probably the best looking Genesis game. Using all of tricks that the Genesis could muster!
The Adventures of Batman & Robin, a delight to the eyes ! (and a very addictive game by the way, one of my favourites !) I would also like to add X-Men 2 and Soleil (Crusader of Centy in the USA), and of course Shinobi 3. Oh, and I don't understand how Rocketknight adventure isn't in the list. I mean, this game is fire !
I would add shinobi 3 and tiny toon adventure busters treasure hiden, All Sega genesis games is so amazing 🥰i miss this beautiful day's with sega and Nintendo NES 🥺❤️
never forget the first time i booted up Ranger X on genesis, such mind blowing experience especially if you were already into everything it was referencing :D
I would put Streets of Rage 3 on here, it was a huge improvement in graphics over the previous two games, but the Japanese version Bare Knuckle 3 is the better version, so maybe that should be on here instead. I would also add Sparkster, Shinobi 3, Mickey Mania, and Musha.
At least give us some footage of Toejam and Earl 2, that game was one of my favorite and it's shame that not many people put it on their "top best looking sega genesis games"
My favorite video game of all time! still remember picking it up in a kb toys clearance bin as a kid..deciding between it and Charles barkley shut up and jam...def made the right choice!
you have toejam & earl 1 and 2 listed, but only talk and show off TJ&E1, TJ&E2 was a side-scroller that while still had the same theme , was very different looking at thte same time
Your list was very good, but I think you forgot some games that, for me, should be on this list. - Alien 3 - Batman & Robin - Earthworm Jim - Gargolyes - Gley Lancer - Mickey Mania - Robocop vs Terminator - Rocket Knight - Shinobi 3 - The Chaos Engine - Wolfenstein 3D (fan made game) - YuYu Hakusho: Sunset Fighters - Zero Tolerance Who knows, maybe you'll make a part 2 of this video?
I would take a look at Streets of Rage 2, it is really impresive, and the improvement in graphics department from the first instalment is huge. Also second part of ToeJam is really impresive. Other impresive games are Earthworm Jim series. Really nice. Kawasaki superbikes, has some amazing poligonal graphics without extra chips, all with a smooth framerate. Another fantastic looking game from Disney is World of Illusion, incredible and also playable with a friend. Then in recent times, some amazing games have been released for Megadrive/Genesis, and are really impresive: Paprium, a beat em up that is difficult to beleave it is running on a megadrive, or Xenocrisis a Smashtv style game with amazing graphics, sound and playability. Also Demons of Asterborg, an amazing game (120 Mbits, for reference, biggest game during the comercial live was Super Street Fighter 2 with 40Mbit).
You missing Atomic Runner and Crusaders of Centy is disturbing! 😂 Those 2 games are not only top 20 but top 5 in graphics! Guess you haven't play them yet. For me, I honestly believe, Atomic Runner is the most impresive looking game. The colorign doesn't seem to have any limitations. In rounded columns you can see how the colors shades down seameslly. Also Crusaders of Centy is a very beautiful game to look at. TMNT and Rocket Knight are also marvels.
The list should be longer including also new releases like xenocrisis. And you missed probably the best looking games of all, adventures of batman and robin
Well Xenocrisis is not an official release. However the Sega Genesis Mini DOES have some official releases. He could have included "Space Harrier II" remastered or the new "Darius" arcade port. All official releases now.
Hmm, some questionable selections. I mean: Toejam & Earl 2, Mickey Mania, Streets of Rage 2, Cool Spot, Earthworm Jim, Ecco the Dolphin, The Story of Thor, Landstalker and Vectorman definitely deserved a mention, especially if we are talking about graphics.
I think for series like Sonic, Streets of Rage, Toejam & Earl, Thunderforce it would have been better to pack them like he did for Vectorman (that is present in the video). Even more since the graphism kept getting better with new release… Legend of Thor is an alternate name of Beyond Oasis btw.
There's something i would like to know, why didn't count Sonic 3 & Knuckles as one game? I mean the stages of Sonic 3 are as good as Sonic & Knuckles themselves.... I would also mention World Of Illusion, Shinobi 3, Earthworm Jim, Streets Of Rage 2 & 3 and The Lion King.
I always found it hilarous how the characters from Streets of Rage are former cops... yet they are like 21-23 years old. I guess they must have spent a whole year in the force lol Not hating tho, loved the game since I was 12 years old in 1992.
Mega turrican, sub terrania, zero tolerance, biohazard, eternal champions, sor2 or 3,Aladdin, mickey mania, soleil, Shinobi 3, batman&robin, mazin saga..
By the time most of these games came out the Genesis had established with me it's limitations and I had moved on only giving a few unimpressed glances at some of these games.
Sega's issue was not graphics or processing power, but audio! SG beat SNES on processing power. Don't know who had the better graphics(probably depends on the game), but the SNES beat SG in audio by far in most games. It showed up in the character audio(beat em ups and fighting games, most notably). Beat em ups are one of my favorite types of game and--in these 2 game types--the problem happens with every attack and action! Like an older system did the audio! Even if I thought SOR was a better series than FF, I'd still rather play FF if I felt that way(because I notice the differences in the audio in the 2 games)...The 2 consoles were close in a head-to-head, but audio is a major deal; if you don't believe me, then you have never audibly compared a fighting game/beat em up on the 2 systems and you're to young to know the differences in a mono recording and a stereo/hi-fi stereo recording...
The only game that comes close to emulating the comic book aesthetics is Ultimate Spider-Man. IDK why but for some Godforsaken reason modern comic book games are obsessing with being "REALISTIC" instead of focusing on look more like a Comic Book!
I don't know what he did to get the footages for all these games but the footages in his video look terrible. He didn't do a good job at all getting good high quality footage for this games to put in his video. Although you don't see it completely here because the images in this video are not of such good quality, You have to appreciate the beauty of all these games and how beautiful they were, even in a less capable genesis which had less colors on screen than the SNES did.
You cannot say streets has decent graphics cause they’re just not. Streets power is its playability and fantastic soundtrack. Final fight is visually superior
Why ppl say Contra “Hard CoRE” when it actually reads “Hard CorPS” with a P and an S at the end NOT R and E... 🤦🏻♂️ Great list of classic games tho! Cheers!
@@segat-800 well im in the US .. in the early 90's it was near impossible to get a japanese version of a console in the US. they didn't have a world wide internet with ebay back then. so yeah to me the sega gen had inferior sound next to the SNES which had a bad ass sony made sound chip.
@DenverStarkey I'm talking about the games. Japanese Mega Drive games had much better music than their US Genesis counterparts. For example Streets of Rage and Sonic the Hedgehog are Japanese games with great soundtracks and sound effects. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-dQf7Rd0vaeo.htmlsi=twnebvxMVPpbXIyF
I don't agree. When the soundtrack is properly made it just sound amazing ! Best example of that are Sonic, Street of Rage, Shinobi, Adventure of Batman and Robin, Soleil (Crusader of Centy). Snes was designed for instrumental music, and for this specific kind of music, yes it was better but for electronic sounds, the Megadrive was clearly better and able to do things the Snes could definitely not.
I have sega classics for my ps4 but the graphics for the games are nothing like how the looked on Sega mega drive why is this ??? I also have an arcade box and also the graphics are rubbish compared to how they originally where is this because of hdmi cables ???
Depends on your idea of expensive, but for $229, you can get some amazing results, and console hardware accuracy, with the Analogue Pocket, which plays many game systems, and with the 2.0 firmware update you get some really great Wega CRT aperture Grille, and pretty believable scanline effects. Going through a $79 Analogue Dock with those effects can yield the next best thing to a $750 RetroTINK4K. At least IMO.
i can understand that Comic zone , Aladdin , vive racing , toy story , Victor man & maybe Sonic ,, have an amazing graphics ,, ill not argue about that .. how ever .. to tell me that STREET OF RAGE 1 are graphically impressive , then im gonna say : ( you are biased & under nostalgia control ) .. street of rage 1 has a very outdated 8-bit style graphic with 2 frame peer a second .. it feels like Atari game not SEGA Genises .. even though street of rage 3 are way superior graphically compare to all of them , yet you ignored it & added part 1 in your list instead .. totally unfair & illogical brother
