Top 25 moments from Twin Peaks Season 3 This edition contains SPOILERS for season 3, episodes 1 through 18! Viewers and listeners beware! Please share your thoughts, theories, and observations regarding Twin Peaks the Return
The Log Lady's final call to Hawk. It had me in tears. Such a sad story for a great actress that Lynch most tastefully was able to pay homage to before she died.
Nothing in twin peaks will be as memorable to me as the final scenes. Nothing will be as haunting and terrifying as "what year is this?" And Laura screaming. Love the new season so much. It was perfect. But that cherry pie scene, pure genius.
NO DOUBT man. "What year is this?" is arguably the most haunting, DEVASTATING and yet also hugely satisfying final scenes of a revered TV show I've ever seen. One one hand I was thinking.. "Oh no... OH NO." and on the other, "Well, of course. PERFECT." It's not a happy ending whatsoever, and I sure as hell wasn't expecting one, even after ep 17. Absolutely perfect, nobody wins. Except maybe Ed & Norma *snifff*
I still can't believe David Lynch was able to put an avant garde short film on prime time television - Part 8 will always be my all time favorite television episodes
The single greatest piece of horror fiction ever broadcast on television. Episode 8 is a masterpiece all on its own... not to mention the rest of the season!
Are you kidding me? The #1 scene of Twin Peaks the Return for me is definitely the woman honking and screaming in her car. "WHY IS THIS HAPPENING?!?!" perfectly describes the whole of Twin Peaks to me.
@@MrJlowyDo you think that this car represents a convergence of the timelines? I mean, we go from the woman needed to get home so that the girl can see her uncle to the girl being incredibly ill in a matter of seconds…
I always found the log ladies conversations with hawke to be the most heartwrenching moments in the show, Catherine remained well spoken and poignant up until the very end. A true legend ❤️
The flashback to David Bowie from Fire Walk was a tremendous highlight, as was 1989's Laura Palmer meeting Cooper in the forest. Great job, WLW. Thanks!
1. Monica Bellucci Dream 2. Bobby crying after seeing Laura's picture 3. Part 17 Cooper saving Laura 4. Pete finally fishing 5. Audrey's Dance 6. Janey-E sex scene 7. Shelly Bobby and Becky at the dinner 8. Norma and Ed finally together 9. The final fight 10. Lucy choosing the color of her chair
the Texas cowboy scene....Coop tells them to leave the waitress alone, kicks one, shoots another in the foot, drops their guns in the boiling kitchen oil.... totally memorable !
any scene with albert and gordon had me in stitches lol. albert in the rain, albert and gordon in the car, albert and gordon with the turnip joke..so damn funny.
This is so damn difficult, but, for me personally; 1) Cooper wakes up. (can't really be anything else, can it?) 2) The Woodsman does radio 3) "We Live Inside a Dream' 4) Mike does the chant 5) Starting Positions 6) Bad Coop meets Jeffries 7) 'He's dead' 8) HELLOOOOO 9) The Muave Zone 10) Sarah removes her face
That whole scene with Bill Hastings' head exploding was great! From the egg cracking sound of Bill's head, Mackley's "oh my god", Diana's reaction was somehow hilarious. Just to be topped off with Gordon's "he's dead"!
Great list! One of my absolute fav scenes was in S3 Ep11.. Bobby watching the screaming road-rage lady, with the sick/ vomiting child.. “WE’RE LATE!! WE’VE GOT MILES TO GO!! AAAAAAAHHH!!! AAAAAAAHHH!!! OH GOD! AAAAAHHHH!!” 😂🤣😂🤣😂
The standout moments for me were the non-existent realm, all of episode 8 and the Monica Bellucci dream. But the ending, which I see as the final three episodes, was just incredible.
Yes at #1! When I got near the end I worried it hadn't made the list. One hugely underrated moment is Dougie's coworker's breakdown when he's about to poison him.
Two moments that would have to be in my Top 10 would be the glass box/Mother appearance (seriously, that scene terrified me) and Hawk's final call from Margaret. That was one of the most touching scenes ever committed to video and the most heartfelt tribute to Coulson that Lynch could give. You could feel the love coming through it.
I agree with the number one. The atomic bomb was nice but it would have been predictable. The cherry pie sequence was indeed formidable, a rollercoaster of emotions, beautifully executed. This sequence was so magical that I felt compelled to rewatch it several times. Good choice!
This video made my month! I kid you not, because it reminds me of what is so special about this show. I feel it's the best show ever created, because it's pure heart and all art.
Really great list, the one scene you didn't include I would have, definitely the glass box creature attacking the young couple havkng sex. One of the most unsettling moments of the entire season.
@@watchdog304 Indeed. I finally watched sn 3, (long story) and didn't remember most of these. That scene will stay with me forever, as will the scenes with Hawk, the Log Lady, Laura, & Cooper.
I just want to thank you for your fantastic Twin Peaks videos. You have your own distinctive style and I associate you with the joy I felt watching each episode when they were originally broadcast. Thanks for your glorious work.
my number one favorite scene is Lucy saying something in the lines of "I think I finally understand cell phones now!". Such a clever, well hearted joke.
I agree with first position scene, and I love when the piano song starts and Dougie seems, for a moment, be awaken as Cooper. And the old lady coming in, beautiful.
I like your list! Three of my favorite moments not included are (1) Rebekah Del Rio singing "No Stars" in the context of that episode, which was full of violence and darkness, (2) the end of the arm-wrestling scene where Ray materializes in the Black Lodge and the ring is picked up by a disembodied hand, and (3) the moment where Cooper loses Laura in the woods and "The World Spins" fades in. "I'm so sorry."
I love how you include "Had I made this list on any other day it may have looked different" It really just goes to show how many amazing moments this season had.
Well done! Your commentary is spot-on, and it's hard to argue with your selections. Just wanted to add that the one scene I found myself playing over and over was from the end of episode four, when Cole and Albert dismiss Tammy to discuss the situation. Bathed in blue light and uncertainty, their conversation capsulizes what viewers are thinking, and even manages to inject a little humor into the proceedings. Can't wait to re-watch the whole series on blu-ray.
Another brilliant video, thanks for posting.. Your selection is great and shows the amount of brilliant TP scenes we had to ENJOY.. emotions of fear, anticipation, joy, shock and much much more.. I woulda had "I am the FBI" at no.1, Albert & Cole looking at the vortex, Carl Rodd singing & crash scene, and Fireman Coop start scene, BUT does that not show how RICH this amazing season was.? Love it as is - BUT I'm itching, just itching for season FOUR ❤️ ☺️🏔️🏔️👍🍩☕🦉🔥😎
A wonderful video, as always. Thanks. I would add Bobby Briggs' reaction to the photograph of Laura, Andy and Lucy's long-lost Brando, and all of the heart-wrenching scenes with Margaret. Episode 8 is in a class by itself; the single most gripping and imaginative hour in the history of television.
For me it was a toss up between the cherry pie in the box/Mitchum brothers scene and the “I am the FBI”scene. Both were amazing. I’m glad someone likes the Mitchum brothers as much as I do. The scene where Janey E chews out the two guys in the park for lending at usurious rates was amazing too. Also the scene where tulpa Diane says her goodbyes was great. I need to watch again.
Irene Haralabatos I love the Mitchum bros too! I never cared about Jim Belushi before but I kinda love him now. We needed a "Fuck you, Albert" on this list!
Makes me wanting to watch it all again right now! Love it. Specially the part where you say if you would make a list another day anything is possible :-)
So many good scenes. One you left out is Coop's shootout with those good ol' boys at Lucy's. Coop was definitely back, but he seemed to have some of the hardness from Mr. C that he didn't have before.
I want to take a moment and appreciate the background score during (moment #7 here, Cooper's Farewell to Janey-E and Sonny Jim) the casino goodbye sequence. Not sure if this particular piece of music was used in the earlier seasons, but for this emotional moment it was completely and amazingly heartbreaking stuff, just perfection. I cannot imagine this scene without that achingly profound music. Once again, music becomes something extraordinary in the worlds of David Lynch. And I, a grown man, am once again reduced to a misty-eyed fanboy ... by a work of fiction, lol. By the way, this countdown was a load of fun to watch. Nice job. What a daunting task it must've been to choose these moments! Thanks. :)
This was such a fantastic season of Twin Peaks! You made a heck of an outstandingly awesome video series too man, thank you very much for your expertise!
I don't know why, but you have the absolute most perfect voice to do analysis videos on David Lynch works, specially Twin Peaks! If David himself would be behind a channel like this, your voice is exactly what I could see him go for.
+Eddie Bergman Another heartbreaking scene that sticks in my mind was Richard's hit-and-run. The mother of the boy going from the feeling of utter joy to utter despair in mere seconds... god, I can't even... :_ (
Well, since the "I am the FBI" scene just made me cheer and cry at the same time all over again I'd have to name that one as my favourite scene I guess? ;) Second-favourite would be Ed and Norma. Was digging for tissues there, too. Also, the entire episode 8. Genius.
I agree that there were just so many great scenes, it's hard to rank them. I mean, I can say that any scene with either Gordon Cole or Dougie Jones was at the top of my list...but everything was brilliant, in so many different ways. Thanks so much for your insightful and joyful commentary on Twin Peaks.
HEEEELLLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Wow Lynch Wow. Great video as usual. Brilliant to reminisce. I have so many great memories and there are so many fantastic moments, but one of my favourite moments was the car ride with Carrie and Richard at the end of season. I remember feeling so much tension and nervousness.
Great video. I just got done rewatching #10. There was a lot from that one on this list. Rebekah del Rio at the end was something I would put up there on my favorite moments.
Bad Coop's conversation with the Jefferies kettle and Judy breaking out of the glass booth and killing the two hipsters were way up on my list. Both were vintage Lynch in making odd, mundane things incredibly creepy. Both were also very important to the overall universe of the story. Gordon Cole's conversation with Bad Coop at the prison was another great one, very unsettling.
As much as I love the original series, to me this is far and beyond the pinnacle of Twin Peaks. I feel like the scenes collected here are only a fraction of so many amazing moments. This whole season felt like eating a plate special with hot black coffee, donuts, and cherry pie at the RR diner, followed by a hellish nightmare of a trip to the black lodge.
My personal top: 1-Cooper saves Laura 2-The Woodsman in the radio and Sarah getting possesed. 3-Mr C confronts Truman (God i loved when Lucy shot him) 4-Chromatics performs "Shadow" 5-Hutch and Chantal's death 6-Mr C humilliates and kills Renzo in the arm wrestling 7-The wrath of Sarah Palmer 8-Bobby cries after seeing Laura's picture 9-Judy (or "The Experiment") destroys that poor young and horny couple 10-I am the FBI
Everything with Sarah Palmer really intrigued me; the face removing scene was my #1. That part, and all of episode 8 is what immediately springs to mind when I think of Twin Peaks: The Return. Did you see the interview of the Palmers Lynch did for that Missing Pieces DVD set? Grace Zabriskie acts just as creepy in that interview as she does in The Return. I have to commend Grace Zabriskie, because I thought she was boring in the first series, and now she makes me sit on the edge of my seat when she's on screen. I really wish Ray Wise was featured more though! Great list and video Mr. RU-vidr!
your list is amazing. i think my favorite moment is when lissie plays wild wild west. its so intense. I love all the "starring kyle machlachlan" moments but that was my fave and just oddly captures so many feelings i have about laura and my own self destructive tendencies in my life
You did a great job, I think. 1 of my other favorites is when Doggie and son are playing catch. The son throws the ball and hits Doggie square in the head, and he just stands there motionless...haha
Greetings from Germany. There were so many fantastic scenes in season 3. Some were so funny I had to laugh loud. Also the disturbance and rawness in others made me shiver. There also were scenes that made me cry. After all, I think, we must conclude that this season 3 was a masterpiece. Shoutouts and many thanks to David Lynch for a story, for feelings, no other conductor (I don´t wanna reduce Mr. Lynch to only a director) will ever be able to deliver to the public. I don´t think that there is a favourite scene for me cause there are so many. But the music gets me. It was just beautiful. And also the ending for me was perfect. Lights out! You all stay safe and be kind.
Respect the choices of course, my own list would definitely have the Freddie punch up at the Roadhouse, Gordon Cole, Albert and the French woman, Janey E telling off the loan sharks, The Chad confrontation, The Fuscos catching Ike The Spike, Carl Rodd playing Red River Valley, Dougie putting the fork into the socket, Bill Hastings breakdown in front of Tammy, Diane's monologue before being revealed as a toulpa , that fantastic sweeping scene and my number one moment was the atomic bomb sequence from episode 8.
Totally agree with number one. Watched the season again for the third time recently, the scene is perfect, funny, nostalgic, mooving, satisfying, especially due to the gorgeous music by Angello.
Honorable mentions: the Wally Brando scene, the "119!" junkie mom, Candie whacking Rod with the remote, Agent Preston's interview with Hastings, Dr. Jacoby and Nadine discussing shit shovels and silent runners, Lucy shooting Bad Coop and simultaneously understanding cell phones, Carl telling his tenant to stop selling his plasma... it goes on and on.
My top 10: 1. "What about the FBI?" - all that buildup, and finally the payoff was amazing 2. Laura sees Cooper while talking to James. Made me appreciate FWWM even more. 3. Silver mustang from parts 3/4. This is what made me fall in love with the series. 4. The bomb exploding in ep 8 - the begging of something crazy 5. Freddy telling the glove story to James. So out of place, that I loved it. 6. Margaret saying goodbye. One of the most iconic characters. 7. The glass box. So simple, and so effective. 8. THIS IS WHAT WE DO IN THE FBI - this came out of nowhere. Maybe it means something more in the context of the ending? 9. Seeing Albert with the morgue Lady 10. Literally everything with Ike the Spike. Can't decide on a single scene
100% job my friend. Fantastic countdown. As far as what i always think about first from season3 is when the old couple in the car in the 40's are showing such intense fear from the bum that kept asking "gotta light?" Never seen anything remotely like that scene before and i cant stop laughing as the husband in the driver's seat just keeps looking more and more frightened by the guy instead of taking off sooner. Lol those facial expressions of his fear were so genuine. Thank God we got to experience that season together for all of us that have seen everything from the pilot episode to "Fire Walk With Me" and all these years later...we were given this wonderful gift from Lynch and Frost. I hope we get a season 4...but after all these years...i couldn't be more satisfied. I'll take that back im sure if there is a 4th. Great countdown sir..and id like to dedicate my comment to Harry Dean Stanton
