I’m always fascinated in what people collect, especially vintage collectors. What gravitated you to vintage? I collect mostly 80’s, 90’s, 00’s rookies because these are the players I grew up with and watched so there is a nostalgia the cards hold to me too. Or do vintage collectors like yourself collect because they are a solid investment and don’t have the peaks and valleys of ultra modern?
I certainly have a fair share of cards from the 80s and 90s, but what gravitates me to vintage is the scarcity of those cards. I’m a very patient collector so it’s a thrill to hunt down vintage cards that have nice eye appeal. The quality control was so poor back then that it’s tough to find nice examples (depending on the issue). I also love history and enjoy learning about players from back-in-the-day. I also think vintage cards are like little works of art. The whole investing and value thing is really secondary to me, but it’s nice to know that vintage for the most part will always at least maintain its value as the supply is rather low compared to demand. Whereas modern cards were produced and survived in the millions. Thanks for watching!
That's cause your cheap and have no taste in cards and probably just look at ur child hood commons that are bent to hell and haven't bought a card since the 90s
I really enjoyed this video! I love how you go after finding cards with the right eye appeal for your collection, that’s definitely the way to do it. Do you have any particular cards that you are targeting for 2024?
Would love to target a Pete Rose RC or maybe a ‘33 Goudey Ruth. We’ll see, I might be buying a house next year so that will cut into the card budget for 2024.
