Yeah... if your shooting round ball, the stock barrel is 90% as good as your gonna get. The only thing that will noticeably beat the stock barrel is a barrel kit and a lot of people buying the mg100 are veteran players that already have a barrel kit so. In short, if your shooting round ball, don’t worry about upgrading the barrel. First strikes are another story.
Even a barrel kit isn’t going to improve anything, aside from maybe better air efficiency. Here’s what objective testing on barrels have revealed; OVERBORE: high velocity consistency, poor air efficiency, slightly better accuracy MATCH BORE: poor velocity consistency, moderate air efficiency, moderate accuracy UNDERBORE: high velocity consistency, high air efficiency, slightly worse accuracy The stock barrel in most paintball guns is about 99.999% as good as you’re gonna get with round ball. I’m not even totally convinced that rifled barrels like the Hammerhead and Nemesis offer any real improvement in accuracy over smoothbore barrels. It seems obvious that they should, but is there any objective, demonstrable evidence that they actually do?
You're mostly right, however accuracy comes from quality of paint and consistency, the better the consistency, the better the accuracy, provided you're shooting decent paint. So technically underboring provides the best efficiency, consistency, and accuracy. Rifled barrels do nothing for roundball, however certain rifled barrels are made specifically for FSR and do increase accuracy.
The problem with the stock springs is not reliability. The stock springs do not flip FSRs any more than the upgraded springs. The problem with them is that they are too strong and have a tendency to slam paint into the chamber, often cracking more brittle shells, upon insertion of a magazine. This obviously can cause a higher rate of barrel breaks with brittle roundball. The gentler upgrade springs relieve this problem. However, it should be noted that with FSRs and their sturdy build, this is a nonissue. FSRs work exactly the same with either spring. Another issue that the upgraded springs solve is that they make the magazines far easier to hand load. The stock springs are super strong and it requires a careful hand to avoid launching a stack of balls up in the air while filling magazines. The upgraded springs make hand loading much easier.
Is the Nemesis barrel rifled all the way through? Because PE just came out with the Quake barrel and when combined with a PE front, it would be a combination of rifled and smooth bore...
I know that this is old, but the Tippmann Intrepid is also great, especially for how inexpensive it is. I used mine for years before getting a replacement.
@@justalpha9138 either way thanks for the suggestion, my paintballing plans have been on hold because of Covid but I am planning on getting back into the sport
@@fargonianproductions2767 Same. I may not be getting a new mask (I just got a new one a few months ago) but I am trying to figure out what magfed marker I want to buy. I'm considering between the First Strike T15, the Valken M17, the Tippmann TMC Elite, and the Planet Eclipse MG100.
I beg to differ. To my eyes, this is a very exciting time for paintball. We have magfed guns and first strike rounds now, and with that we have scopes that can actually do something for the first time in paintball. We have conversion gun kits. We have pistols that are getting smaller and smaller. We have .50 cal paint. .50 cal First strikes. We have 3D printers that make all kinds of parts. We have the mcarterbrown.com guys who make all sorts of crazy stuff. And on top of that, speedball guns have gotten about as good as they can realistically get. We have semi auto, full auto, 3 round burst, pumps, stock class guns, bolt action guns, double barrel guns. Mechanical semi is making a comeback with new modern guns like the CVO, and the Emek is completely redefining what a budget gun is. What is it that you want exactly?
I guess I wasn’t seeing it like that, to me it just didn’t seem as though much was coming out aside from the 50 caliber first strike that was refreshing. To me the EVA with built in HUD was something very new and exciting but never really made it out in market. I understand that we have new bolt systems that are amazing and guns are becoming more affordable but I guess I was looking for something that changes the game play more than cosmetics like the HUD EVA or the Dfender marker that came out awhile back. I see some changes too but I haven’t seen anything groundbreaking that brings paintball to a higher level. To me it’s just upgraded bolts and drop stocks
You know that is quiet what they want it to do, with these longer followers? It´s to prevent dry firing your gun and give away your position on the field
