As a generalization, the enhancement pattern for CNS lymphoma in immunocompromised patient is peripheral with central necrosis or cystic change. In contrast, CNS lymphoma tends to enhance homogenously like a solid mass (without much central necrosis or cystic change) if there is no prior treatment. There are many exceptions to the rule, of course, but it is a good clue on imaging.
