My two favorite concealers are Natasha Denona Hyglam and Huda fauxfilter, I am 71 and neither of these crease on or sink into fine lines, LOVE them both!
Even though I have oily combo skin, I appreciate your thorough descriptions of foundations as it helps me figure out if a specific formula might work for me!
Thank you so much. My 58 yr old skin has suddenly gone from normal to super dry. So many mature influencers don't have dry skin. So while i love their reviews, I've learned that what works for them may not work for me anymore.
Right?! For instance, as much as i love Angie Hot and Flashy, generally if she loves a foundation it doesn't work for me. (I found that out the hard way). Although i think her skin may be changing as we both love the Tarte Maracuja Tinted Hydrator. Tammy's Ageless Beauty has super dry skin and her recommendations usually work for me. Also Melissa55 has good recommendations. ❤️
Dang it, I lost my comment!!! Excellent video, Tamara. I can get by with a little Pixi Corrector at times, but concealer is not my friend. I wish there was something I could do for my purple/black areas in the inner corner of my eyes. I know you were happy to get hope. blessings, and love..MaryEllen
I always wear a primer under sunscreen or CC/BB cream on my 68 year old normal skin….impressed with the Wet n Wild Impossible Primer/base (clear)& also love L’Oreal Age Perfect blurring face Primer (pale pink). Neither are glowy, just soft & smoothing. 💕
Hi Tamara I have severely dry skin with both rosacea and eczema - complexion products can be very difficult for me to find something I love. I have tried so many products (swatches and samples), but my current favourites are: Primer - Bobbi Brown vitamin enriched face base - this is great as a hydrating primer on my skin. Revolution superbase vitamin base primer - this is a "dupe" of the Bobbi Brown and works really well too. Hourglass No28 primer serum - this is a really good one for dry skin too as it has an oily feel to start, but sinks in quickly leaving a very smooth finish on the skin (only really for drier skin types I would think). It doesn't make my makeup breakdown faster and in fact seems to extend the wear. A newer product to me, but I do like it. Foundations - Givenchy glow foundation (my latest purchase) - this is a beautiful light to medium coverage hydrating foundation available in a wide range of shades. Price wise it's actually less costly than Lancome for reference. It's really pretty on dry skin. Mac F&B - a longstanding favourite I can use as a skin tint right up to a medium coverage foundation, as it does build on itself. It's really hydrating and long wearing with a pretty finish on very dry skin - it's a Winter staple (I live in Scotland so the weather here is cold in the Winter with lot's of indoor heating - dry dry dry). It's a 50ml bottle (almost double the standard size) and not too expensive for the amount of product you get. Lancome teint idole - this was my Summer pick for years, but they recently reformulated and discontinued my shade (all the very pale shades disappeared). I still have a new bottle, so it's still a favourite however I am on the hunt for a replacement. it's a satin finish on the skin and I don't have to use powder, yet it's still very long wearing. Concealer - truthfully I don't really have a favourite concealer - it's a supremely tricky category for me as my undereyes are so dry. I have found that using a second layer of eye cream (after my skincare and spf have settled) just before applying concealer helps a lot and makes many much more wearable. I'm currently using the Dior (the previous incarnation), the Bobbi Brown corrector stick and the original YSL touche eclat depending on the coverage needed that day. I don't have big dark circles and really need something mostly in the inner corner/tear trough, so I don't need maximum coverage. None of these work without the layer of eye cream all that well, but nothing I have used seems to and I've tried so many. Of what I have tried these are just as good and they're fine. If you're not as dry as me each is a good product. Powder - Hourglass ambient lighting powder - this is my most used and I just use a very light dusting to "set" my makeup in the t zone. It's my favourite. by Terry hydrapowder loose - this is the only other powder I use and mostly in the Summer. It gives my makeup a bit more longevity in the humidity of Summer without drying me out. There you go my super dry skin favourites. I hope it helps. best wishes.
I really can't explain with words how good your videos (and you!) make me feel. There is something about your manners, your expressions and even your voice that gives me so much peace. Thank you very much!!! Yesterday I showed my grandma one of your videos and she said you were such an elegant woman, and I really think she nailed it!! So glad I discovered your channel. Best wishes!!
Oh my gosh, thank you for such a lovely comment. You really made my day. It means so much to me that my videos make you feel good. Sending love and hugs to you AND your Grandma 😘💕♥
It does friend on skin type and climate. The L’Oreal True Match doesn’t work as well on me on the winter when my skin is super dry…can look a bit matte. But in the summer when my skin is less dry and the air is hot and humid it is more satin on me…but I use a pretty glowy SPF.
Most days I wear the tinted hydrator now. I don't have time to mess with foundations. However, come cooler weather, I'll probably use the Illuminance more often.
Thought I’d share some of my faves. A good primer for dry skin is the Glossier Futuredew oil serum. I also like the Rose Inc skin tint. The owner of Anastasia is pro Putin so I don’t buy anything from the brand.
Estee Lauder Hydra Rescue is the best foundation I have ever used and I have tried a lot of foundations over the years. It covers redness so well and is hydrating and stays on all day! I get compliments on my skin frequently when I wear this. I won't wear anything else.
I purchased the Luminous Silk mini after hearing so much about it as a special occasion foundation. I had spent months trying to find something that I really felt pretty in for my sons wedding, a this was perfect! I truly felt so confident and pretty. The shade matched so well, and the satin finish was gorgeous.
Hi Tamara! I really love your videos! Could you please do one on how you apply makeup (especially anything under the eyes) during light peeling from Ret A. Thanks so much 😊
Is the lipstick you are wearing Meet me in Berlin? After watching your video on Lisa Eldridge I bought TWO of those lipsticks!! I love them. I am so happy to have found your site. Keep it up. Next month I will be 68 yikes, but our skin tone is very much alike. So picking out many makeup products is so simple do to all your work. Thank you Tamera
Thank you so much! I’m so glad you find my videos helpful!! I had to check the description box to find out what I was wearing which was actually Milani nude lipliner and Neutragena hydro boost lip shine in Pink Mocha. ❤️
Oh thanks for this! You always look beautiful! I love the True Match foundation 😊 I’m so excited to learn we wear the same shade in the True Match. Yeah! Also, I’m so glad you let us know if foundations are glowy because I’m not a huge fan of those products.
It's always amazing to find a shade twin! So helpful! Another shade twin is Kiki who has the channel the hooded lid...well not exactly a twin, but I am usually a shade lighter than she is so a good frame of reference!
Happy Sunday Tamara! You look especially lovely today. I like you in black. I usually find that I am in total agreement with your picks. I am head over heels in love with the Revlon Illuminance foundation. ( In 213 😁) I am also quite fond of the L'Oreal Tru Match and I am so happy they finally added a pump. My number one concealer is also the Lancome. I have used the Sephora Best Skin Ever concealer with good results. I recently purchased the Physicians Formula Butter Glow concealer in Fair to Light. It's quite a light formula that brightens and doesn't settle into any fine lines. I don't use a primer often but the one I like is Caliray So Blown. I am also very fond of their setting spray. It creates a very fine mist and it really extends the life of my makeup. I also like the Charlotte Tilbury setting spray. I'm look forward to parts 2 and 3. Have a great week.
When I saw that we use the same shade of Ritual de Fille 3-drop foundation, I was wondering if you have tried the brands Thorn Oil? Don’t be put off by the red tint- it fades immediately. It was a game changer for me as I have VERY dry skin even in the summer. I use a few drops ( let it sink in for a minute or two) under my sunscreen and then go in with foundation. It will get rid of your dry patches ( temporarily) and make a perfect canvas for anything you put on top. It is pricey but no more than a good primer and worth every penny. Now I won’t use any foundation without it. When we travel I decant an ounce into a tiny vial because the original bottle is too big to bring. Enjoyed your video and I have several of the items on your list. I enjoy high end foundations as the shades are a better match for my light cool undertone but these drugstores are excellent too.
I am 68 with extremely dry skin. My all time favourite concealer is the Lancome Effacernes Long Lasting Softening Concealer SPF30. It’s so good I haven’t even bothered trying another concealer in about 15 years. I set it with a light dusting of ByTerry Hyaluronic Hydra Powder (the loose powder version) and it does not crease all day. One tube lasts over two years.
Tamara this is going to blow your mind. I'm on a financial crunch right now and can not justify the cost of mad happie cream cleanser at the moment. I decided to try the baby magic vanilla oat baby wash. It has shea butter, glycerin, aloe, oat extract. It did not sting my eyes. It was hydrating. You have got to try it! As a lover of the mad hippie cream cleanser this is great money saving subsitute!
Thanks for a great video. We are the same color match in many of these foundations. We are burning up down here in Houston. Can’t wait for a break in this hot weather.
Tamara, I've been buying literally everything you've recommended because were the same age group, skin type AND shade! So thank you for saving me endless journeys and a ton of money! Question: How would you rate the Revlon foundation against the Wet n Wild one that you recommended?
I'm so happy to hear my recommendations are working for you! As far as the Revlon Vs the Wet N Wild Tinted Hydrator....the WnW has more of a natural satin skin like finish...more of an every day out the door fast skin tint. The Revlon has perhaps a tiny bit more coverage, a little more radiance and gives a more of a perfected look. But I love and use them both!
I loved the EL futuristic foundation but the sunscreen I think irritates my skin and I can't use it. But this winter I think I am going to try one of your skin tints. Not sure which one..that's why I'm watching for probably the third time🤣
Bummer about the Estee Lauder! I do wish they would stop putting SPF in makeup! My latest Skin Tint that I adore is Hourglass. The coverage is pretty light…but sometimes I add a drop of Ritual de Fille to amp up the coverage a tad. Pricey but gorgeous! I have reviews of both products and neither contains SPF!
This was fun to know, Tamara! I love the Lancome concealer. The long name one lol. Why are they naming them that long? lol. Great video and can't wait to see the eyeshadows, blush and lip. Happy Sunday!! XOXO
I loved the EL Futurist foundation last year per your rec. But it seems my skin didn't agree after several uses. I am assuming it might be the SPF. So this winter I will have to try one of your other recs. I prefer moisturizer without a ton of shine. Thanks for all you do. As I've said before my skin is very much like yours and I live by your recommendations
Awe! Thanks for the nod on the ABH Luminous foundation again. Makes me smile and so glad you still like it! Guess what? I still enjoy it too. But, I do reach for the L’Oréal True Match Super Blendable foundation more often ever since your review last year (or early this year?). It’s easy and reliable not to mention more affordable (although Ulta often features the ABH foundation during seasonal sales). I also enjoy the Kosas concealer, but when I bought the True Match foundation, I picked up the True Match Eye Cream in a Concealer by L’Oréal as well. I love it. It is light weight and super hydrating. Comes in a squeeze tube and a little dot or two on the back of my hand, applied with an old school concealer brush spreads it beautifully under both eyes. I then pat it with my finger or the Angie BK concealer brush. Soft natural slightly radiant finish. Have you tried it?
My favorite concealer is the Tarte Creamy formula. It’s light, blends easily and doesn’t crease. I don’t have any dark circles so I can’t speak to whether or not it will cover them.
Hi one week late. I know comments help your YT metrics. I’m so not into concealers - the only thing I want to conceal is not covered by anything (the tear trough area) but now I have dozens of concealers. I’m also not keen on foundation. Having said that I watched a video where the demonstration mixed concealer right into foundation. She used different ratios. I tried it and I liked the overall effect. 😊
First of all, welcome back! We missed you last week. Regarding concealers, please, please try NYX Bare With Me! I would love your opinion of it! It is a serum, so I have found it works very well on my dry under eye area. It only takes the tiniest amount to do both eyes! Anyway, looking forward to Part two of this roundup! Have a lovely week!🌺
Thank you! I hope you weren't worried...I do post on my community page when i am late or absent. But I was preparing for the big cross country drive between New York and Minnesota. Anyway, yes, I have and enjoy NYX bare with me and almost included it in top 3. i love the testure, coverage and finish, but didn't include it because I prefer a doe foot applicator. But i need to pull it out and use it more so thank you for the reminder! ❤️
❤🎉 Always love your wealth of knowledge Tamara 😍 Ty. so much. I have a couple of questions ‼️ I am 59+ and new to the game of wearing foundations and concealers 😮😉. I have started with the "Dermatology Univeral tinted" ( just not a good shade match and the "Colorescience Classic is pinky on my skin, lol!!? So I did buy the Wet'nwild light medium you recommended 🤞🤞. Wish me luck😅. What sunscreen do you wear in the summer under the foundation? What do you recommend for under eye yellow? Spot corrector or concealor, ty Tamara. P.S. Is Mr. Bozlee 🐾 doing alright and how is Jimmy ( I have two adopted cats like yours and they are a pure 😹😹 joy❤❤.
Fab and super helpful round up and reviews! Also, your look today is beautiful! I cant use the Pixie as it contains fragrance but I am going to see if I can find the Catrice here in the UK. Have you tried the Hy Glam? I think it's the high end equivalent of the IRL Revolution. Have a great week ❤❤❤❤
Thank you Dez! Actually the hi glam is one I am testing out but i bought the wrong shade. I need to buy a better shade AND try the corrector! Have a great day!
I love your videos so much. My favorite under eye concealer is loreal clearly brighter. I think you suggested this a long time ago. I just love ❤️ it. X0
Love your reviews! Have you tried the Dior Backstage concealer? I generally don’t even like concealer. But I recently got some of the Dior backstage concealer and I’m loving it so far. I’m a dry skin almost 50 year old and I get it was hydrating and brightening and not cakey.
Hi Tamera. Yes, MN days are getting shorter, AND many leaves have turned orange on my maple tree! I am going to try that Pixi Peach Corrector. Since you convinced me to try color corrector, I have tried the Ulta brand and ELF as the Pixi one is never in stock at my Target or Walgreens. I really like the ELF but am curious to try the Pixi. Thank you for your well researched videos.
I do really like the Revlon Illuminance foundation. Go to the store to pick out your color. The only tint I like is the Tarte. It is the only Tarte product I like
I only use one Tarte product too. If you ever want to try a nice concealer, the Tarte CREAMY is great. Stay a way from the original ( like paste) and the Radiant( will show every line you have and a few you don’t) Most of the other products Tarte has are not dry skin friendly but the concealer is if you moisturize well beforehand.
Hi Tamara🤗, so nice to travel, but there's no place like home. Sounds like you and Bozlee had a fun vacation. 🌞 I ended up using Nars tinted moisturizer this summer. For longer lasting coverage, or going somewhere, used your fave and mine, pixie corrector. Then Nars concealor as my foundation. They have a color called Ginger that is spot on. Yay🎉 🎉so glad you included Anastasia Luminous. In fall, I plan on purchasing it again, for sure. Welcome back! 🙋♀️🥰
Thank you Sharon! i can't believe i still haven't tried the classic NARS tinted moisturizer! ABH Luminous is on sale at Ulta right now, but they often include it in there 21 days of beauty coming up. Have a great week! ♥
That’s why I only have one! LOL. I really only use it occasionally in the summer if I am trying to get my makeup to last for an event of something like that.
Hi Tamara! I can't believe how many products we agree on, lol. Love my Elf glow and the Wet n Wild hydrator is fantastic, I take it with me when travelling, convenient packaging. I love the same concealers but like you I haven't repurchased the Kosas until I need to. Looking forward to your next one, love these type of videos! Have a great week my beautiful friend! 😘
I like Hard Candy sheer envy hydrating primer, I use it with the Sephora Best Skin Ever and it helps it to last a lot better than when I wear the foundation on its own.
I can no longer use Pixie Peach corrector. I found my eyes felt like I was peeling onions. I will really miss this product. It covers that dark color better than anything else out there.
Darn! I've heard great things about Sigma's peach corrector. And i have tried CT and BB...both are pretty good. And I'm curious about Becca which is going to be on sale during Ulta's 21 days of Beauty. Someone mentioned Elf has a good corrector. Good luck on your search and keep me posted!
Just bought the Pixi by Petra Peach corrector and brightened. This and Merritt cream blush are your recommendations. Pixi was way more affordable. Enjoy both. Bought Beauty Pie recommended by someone else: $25+ shipping and handling: very disappointed. Love love love Hourglass to look at, in the store, but yikes!!!!! the price. ELF has similar powder: found some at a Big Lots for $4 🥰
Hello Tamara ! That was great . I like a lot of the products you mentioned . I like the Becca under eye brightener the Laura Mercier hydrating primer is good . I was also trading off with the Lancôme and the kosas , love them both until I discovered the CT Radiant concealer I am completely in love and cheating on them ! I like the Dior Forever skin glow . Tamara have you tried the maybelline Fit me Dewy + smooth ? It is really lovely , I have a bunch of colors for either summer /winter cause the price is soo (cheap) reasonable lol . Can’t wait to see your next set of products next week 💖 ps how do you know if the kosas is bad a smell ?
Thank you so much for so many great suggestions! Adding to my list for sure! The Kosas smell changed and became very pungent/rancid smelling...i think its the type of thing that you just know when you smell it. Have a great week! ♥
Tamara I love your channel. This is off topic but are those pothos plants? If so I have some too. Mine keeps getting white stuff on them 😞 do you have that problem with yours? Your plants look so nice
Hi Kristy! Yes they are pothos...more of a lime green variety. White stuff sounds like some sort of an insect. I would bring a leave into a nursery and ask the best way to treat it.
Also a Minnesota resident so I appreciate a summer and winter foundation list. I gotta try some of your recommendations. The combination of being 70 years old and using Curology, I just can’t seem to find a foundation I am happy with especially since Double Wear Light is long gone. By the way, I tried Pixi but it seems quite drying on me. How do you prep your under eye area? Thanks for a great video!!
I had the same issue with the pixie but now I use Kiehl creamy under eye with avocado. It is pricey so I buy it when on sale and a little goes a long way so it lasts a long time I dab it under my eyes and leave it for a few minutes then tap it in. Then the pixie glides on and works great 😊
@@lauriec73 I did try the Kiehl but I found it too thick. Maybe I just used too much but it never seemed to absorb enough to apply concealer on afterwards. I can see where it would definitely help with the Pixi product though.
I have Over 50 dry skin with texture. I like light to medium coverage. And even though I do have texture and small pores, I do not like primers. So I look for moisterizing foundations that are smoothing. Not easy to find. Futurist and Tilbury are a bit too heavy for me, so as well as many other moisterizing foundations. I did like the formula of the Futurist better than the Tilbury but Tilbury had a better shade match. So i just skipped both. Ufortunately most of my foundations that fit my criteria are $$$. Haus Labs Beauty Blender Face Tint Koh Gen Do (Aqua & Moisture formulas) Surratt Dew Drop I also like Dior Face and Body for warm days when I'm out active all day long. My favorite concealers are, GLossier Stretch (no makeup days) and Huda Faux filter. Glossier is moisterizing and skinlike and glowy but sheer. And the Huda has medium to full but is a satin matte and smoothing. I do not powder my undereyes at all. And only my tzone on my face.
Strange! I've never had anyone say that. I just test my links on my phone and no problem. Does that happen with all YT links? Maybe its a setting on your phone?
I like the true match - but seems to work best for me without anything else on my skin. The taste was a total fail for me - it just does not absorb - just sits and eventually separates on top of my skin. The slightest touch and it just comes off. Disappointed because the color worked well for me.
Good question! In order to achieve the SPF on the label you need to apply 1/4 tsp...it's virtually impossible to apply that much makeup, so at best we are getting a tiny fraction of the SPF listed on the label. Because I use SPF every single day I don't need it in my cosmetics. i also think It gives people a false sense of security. I have a video on the topic here in case you are interested: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-u9Y9D849Ypg.html
Good question! I never tried the cushion but heard great things about it. I also really enjoy their Photo Focus Dewy foundaiton....def a runner up to top 3! Wet N Wild has some great products!
