Being an optometrist can be a very rewarding career. March 23rd is world optometry day, and for that, I wanted to highlight the benefits of being an optometrist. These are my top 3 reasons optometry can be amazing.

Optometry has been consistently ranked one of the best profession in America. There are many reasons for this. The lifestyle and work-life balance can be great. The divorce rate of optometrists is also ranked one of the lowest in the country. Income potential can also be amazing, especially since there are many different work modalities you can work in. Prescribing glasses and contacts can be very rewarding, but the work of optometry extends far past glasses on contacts. Fitting specialty contacts, improving vision in children, and being the gate keeper of catching many systemic conditions is a fraction of the amazing possibility optometrists can do.
