Hi Dr Chua, have you seen studies on using GLA along Omega 3s for dry eyes? I saw Hydroeyes uses GLA (via black currant oil) and just got some black currant oil for much cheaper so I'm taking that along with Omega 3 and curious if theres good evidence for it

If you get dry eyes at night, use Glad Press 'n Seal. Cut 2 squares off at least 2" larger than your eyes so they fully cover around your eyes. Press them on over your eyes before going to bed. They need to be big enough to cover the whole area around your eyes, not just your eyes. No air can get in making a complete seal around your eyes. Yes, they stay in place all night and are completely sanitary to use because nothing can get in under them. When you wake up, you will have a lot of moisture under them that kept your eyes moist all night long. They will stay moist until you remove them. It's more comfortable and cheaper than goggles and eye masks. I have MGD and RCE, and this works great. Good luck!

sounds like a good idea but I cant imagine putting plastic over your skin is good in the long term. Maybe the skin wont be able to breathe or other unknown side effects

i use cotton pads slightly moistened and then apply saran wrap on top. Not for sleeping but as a daytime resting treat .

Thank you, thank you, thank you Dr Chua! You just saved me from spending $975.00 on a “Blephex” procedure “prescribed” by my Ophthalmologist!! You also confirmed my preferred selection of an electric heat mask rather than a microwave version recommended by the office salesperson. Thirdly, I now know that individual blister “vials” are more prone to contamination than Systane special packaged bottles. Your videos have given me the unbiased information and confidence to treat my dry eyes safely, effectively, and efficiently at home. I’m a very disciplined and frugal individual…I can do this! Thank you! I wish you abundant prosperity, love and light! 🙏🏾

0:18 I have suffered from dry eyes for decades and recently developed surfer’s eye. The two issues are likely related. Diet has helped some, but it has never been enough. I write to celebrate true relief with the recommended compress. I have tried compresses before but my homemade compresses were always too hot/too cold and I doubt the sessions ever lasted 20 minutes. My compress arrived yesterday and I applied it right away. My eyes were literally so oily afterward that I could not focus. This morning, my eyes feel fabulous. This is the only true relief I have ever experienced. I bought the less expensive model which does not have a temperature reading. I used it one notch below max and it was perfect for me. Thanks so much for sharing this meaningful tip.

Hi, so glad to hear that the compresses helped you so much,.which one did you actually buy? Have sent a fortune on all the " latest" to improve dry eyes and other things, but am willing to try, from your positive and helpful testimony as well. Which one did you get? I live in Mexico, so it's not always possible to get things sent here unfortunately.

You know I was putting oil on my face because my skin was so dry! So once I quit doing that my eyes are totally fine. I had no clue that I was moisturizing way too much! Good to know about what you used…

Interesting! I apply an oily ointment (VitA-POS) to my eyes every night and sleep with an eye mask as advised by optometrist. When I wake up I have difficulty focusing until I've washed my face and applied some articficial tears. I guess that's a good indicator that it's actually working. (It's a pain in the butt when I wake up in the wee small hours and I'm trying to read what time it is!!》

The electrical eye mask is so easy to use, you can add 'moisture, kick back, listen to music. Not that pricey either. I learned more from Dr. Chua than 4 visits to different eye docs. Great ideas, so easy to listen to, the best online /bedside manner on YT. I have 'dry eye' but 90% blocked tear ducts. Wind makes me tear and I'm 3,000 miles in 2 yrs of e mtn biking, ski 60 days a year, play tennis a very dry Utah environment. Glad to wear goggles vs tearing at speed! I'd like to avoid bleph /DHR surgery if possible, so these tips are great.

The doctor here suggests some natural remedies, such as blinking your eyes often, usingSome fancy special glasses that lock in moisture into your eyes. at the end of the video he has all of his suggestions typed up On the screen,so perhaps it would be easier for you to understand. Honestly, I don’t even know half of the things he’s talking about, and I speak English lol. Best of luck to you, let me know how it goes.

What I'm doing more often to help my eyes is standing in the shower letting warm water run on my eyes and face. It helps my sinus problem and my eyes and it's so pleasant. Never measured temperature, but feels so good. Really good video. I've had my doctor tell me the same things you're saying but often I miss the key points. I don't think I'm incapable of learning... honestly I just don't want to change my viewing habits.

@cxlmobileheadlightrestorat7906 I noticed foods are a huge factor to dry eye for me. I noticed dairy, chocolate, tea and heavy alcohol use triggers my dry eye. I use eye drops every day. Morning and afternoon. Sometimes, even before I go to bed if I feel like the dry eye is coming. So 2-3 drops a day.

Thank you for this info. I've spent the past number of years dealing with dry eye that has been getting worse through the years with no relief. Even the recent 2 month treatment of Oxevate did nothing (thankful that insurance covered the $250,000+ cost). Since then I've started doing my own research on the subject and discovered you and a few other doctor's that are really providing useful and helpful info. Absolutely love this! Great info, doctor interested in helping patients save money, willing to change his opinion when he learns more info available - priceless. Curious if you have any opinion about the new research that manaku honey in Optimel eyedrops can help dry eye? A neighbor whose husband with a beard who was on oxygen was severely burned when his smoking caused a fire. He healed completely with no burn scars. Since then I keep manaku honey on hand for any skin injury. It's expensive but goes a long way.

Fabulous information, thank you from the bottom of my heart. cant wait to try your suggestions. i wore contacts for 50 years and miss them terribly. dry eyes started 3-4 months ago. i also use tretinoin on my face but not particularly close to my eyes. im female, 63 so a convergence of risk factors.

Thanks, Doc, for the tip on the heated compress. I've used the microwave type without good results and gave up on them. Your experimentation showed me what will work. I knew that a continual heating source would be better, but did not know about the one you recommended. I bought one today. Thank you! Also, I've used the Omega 3 supplements with limited to no help for a year or so. I appreciate you making this video!
