While tight is most is definitely right in most home games when it comes to poker strategy. Be aware if you strictly follow the advice in this video it's going to create a situation where other players don't want you in their games, which can be an issue if you have some crazy bad players and big fishes in those games who can be targeted. Ideally, you want to be playing tight, but give the minimal amount of action you can get away with.

When I lived up in Minnesota I used to play twice a week at a local bar.....we had probably 60 or so players in the ecosystem that played regularly and knowing your competition is probably the best advice you can give. We had retired people to a couple very rich people who dominated their industries to people living paycheck to paycheck. An example is, someone who needs to pay his mortgage will be tighter than the town drunk or those rich men looking to crack you. All that affects playing styles and if you are at a home game you should know that about your competitors on top of what they are doing on the felt.

When you're running through example hands would be helpful to edit a visual on screen

I would add try to be realistic about how good a player you really are, and try to avoid players who are clearly significantly better than you.

Love this. Also do this on a micro level too with which hands you play in which pots vs. which opponents.

Hey Alec during dead hands how can I effectively study my opponents on how they are betting and playing it just seems hard to imagine any tips I recently started playing and when I am playing I barely focus on those things
@ConsciousPoker
@ConsciousPoker 2 года назад
Pay attention all the time. Note how they play certain spots (for example, do they 3-bet light or value bet thin?). Use that in future hands vs. them.

Hello Alec, what's the longest number of hours you've broken even for in live poker? Do you know? What's the most that most live players you know have broken even for? Or what's generally considered a common number of hours?

Good question. You can learn more at PrimeDope.com using their variance calculator. I have a video on it as well!

You’re image is gonna be so bad if you do this you won’t get any action if you’re even lucky enough to get invited back

TLDR: be a nit pre be a nit post make reads on your opponents saved you 20min

Correct, albeit it's important to give a little bit of action, because it may create a situation where others don't want you in their home game, or people stop playing altogether because there isn't any action.

What are the stakes of the home games you go to? You mentioned $5,000 buy-in.

Typically $100/$200 for mine. Buy in $20,000 min.

It’s so funny when you try to find stuff about home games and there are all these pros talking about 10/20 and 3k on the table😂. That’s not an average home game among friends.
