Thanks for watching as always! Monday’s video is going to be awesome, attempting 1,000 yard shot with the AK-224 😈 So stay tuned, and thanks for hanging around! Also, here’s that ARAK link for anyone curious: bit.ly/2ELfgvV (BTW for those asking, the M10X is a sweet rifle, but not an AR/AK hybrid)
@@coleferraro767 the AK attachment makes more sense, since the AK doesn't have a big buffer tube and as such could be mounted stockless with a short barrel to a rail on an AR handguard.
Actually.... Mutant is more a LR-308/SR25 with a splash of DPMS308 then it is AR10. Once I learned about Eugene Stoner and his post AR15/AR10 designs I can see the similarities. Stoner along with knights armament perfected the AR15/AR10 design and called it a SR25.
hey sweetie want me to show you my D.I.K human ur interested in : WHAT THE FUCK THATS NOT UR DICK you : DICK ??!!! *I MEANT D.I.K , WHAT YOU MEAN YOU DONT CARE ABOUT THE GREAT AND PERFECT WORK OF OUR LORD OF KALASHNIKOV* ????!!!!
The Ketec SU-16 seems to have been forgotten about. “Designed to compete with budget AR-15, the rifle features a highly similar layout to the AR, but an AK-like operating system that uses a long-stroke gas piston and a charging handle integrated on the bolt carrier group.”
Yea I wouldn't give the Mutant the class of "hybrid" and the same thing with the PAP AK pistols that have AR mag adapters. Funny enough about the mutant. I was at a private shoot a few years ago when the mutant first came out. We had one of the first production models and couldn't get it to run at all. Applied tons of lube, changed mags, ammo, etc... it wouldn't function at all so I wrote it off as a BS gun. However, I came across another one about a year later and it was phenomenal. I don't know if we got a bad one, or if they changed some things about it later... but it was a completely different experience. Like em alot now.
How can you have more than 100k subs but hardly ever have one reply to your comments. Same with likes. I can count the amount of times I've seen a comment of yours with more than 100 likes on two hands.
It depends on which one. The Sig 556 and its derivatives take AR mags, AR stocks, and it fires 5.56, so I'd say it's a loose hybrid. However, the standard Sig 550 series rifles are not necessarily hybrids in terms of the rifle, but the philosophy is a hybrid of the Kalashnikov and Stoner ideas.
I agree the Sig doesn't really use any AR elements in it's operating mechanism so it can't be really considered an AR/AK Hybrid. The South Korean K2 rifle which uses AK-style long stroke gas piston combined with AR style bolt is probably the closest thing to a real AR/AK hybrid.
fair point ... use either an ak or ar because seriously... just imagine looking for parts as complex as an ar ( in that they have to be almost intact to work ... property at least) and like an ak in that they are connected to the actual receiver taht would be a pain to fix
With mutant and ks47 the only proprietary parts are the bcg's so you can just buy an extra and you'd be gtg. Honestly you'd probably be fine just getting an extra bolt.
Was on the shitter re-watching the AK month burial video on my phone when this came out. Back at the computer, now I'm a few minutes late :[ Forgive me AK J́esus...
That one wild hair about half way through was killin me haha, went a little dry on the cosmoline this morning huh? Great vidja boss looking forward to the next one!
Your completely right on what makes a hybrid but why would I want to mix my marvel of modern technology with a vodka fueled train wreck. In all seriousness aks are cool I'm just not a fan of hybrids mixing two weapon systems is how you make neather work properly.
Dale Leppert how is this racist he is making a good joke and what he said about the ak is 100% true and I’m a really big fan of aks and ak style rifles
Lol, I'm sure he would welcome any technical, mechanical or financial assistance and input that experts like yourself can offer to the project....it's not like JMB and Comrade Mikhail aren't rolling in their graves while cursing brandons very existence and sabotaging everything by haunting, hexing or fucking with any and every one of his material suppliers....
I understand someone wanting to shoot 7.62 out of a AR package but the Mutant and the psa rifle just look so weird. It reminds me of that pokemon meme where two pokemon got fused together and were like MoThER, dO yOU sTilL LoVE uS?
Psa ks-47 is good. Mine is running at upper with hybrid bolt. Psa gen 2 lower using p mags. It actually works just have to file back the edges on at upper to feed p mag.
Its eithe gonna be an AK with AR caliber or an AR with a AK caliber. Hybrid just means in between, a bit of both. Considering that, the mutant is a hybrid
The best AK/AR hybrid is the least known one. Its straightforward approach in using the best of both worlds made it a relatively simple rifle. It isn't the sexiest, but is the most reliable (compared to other hybrids). It has served nations, major role or minor. It is..... The Daewoo K2.
I'm surprised nobody ever comments on how similar the AR-180 was to the AK. *Stamped reciever *Piston operation (might not be long stroke, but short stroke is good enough) *Charging handle attached directly to the bolt carrier *Impressive reliability The only real difference is that the AR-180 never saw successful use in the commercial market.
I've been watching for a while, really enjoy your vids. I like the AR vs AK guy videos. I personally like the AK. I served and we have M16's. Also had the chance to fire AK's. Much rather have an AK. No miss fires or stove piping. I own a couple of AK type rifles and love them. Keep up the good work.
I'd consider the Daewoo K2 a nice hybrid. It takes AR magazines, has an AR style lower I believe can take an AR trigger group, but has a piston system upper similar to an AK. Very fun shooting gun too.
I think one of the most AR-AK hybrid rifle designs I have ever seen is the Daewoo DR-200. Say what you want about it, but the rifle itself Opens up like an AR, has a gas piston very similar to an AK, the bolt carrier is definitely inspired by an AK, while the bolt itself, as well as its firing pin and firing pin retention pin are definitely AR. The fire control group is definitely AR. The front sight is shrouded like an AK, but to be honest, the gas block is its own design. It accept AR mags, is chambered in .223/5.56, and is damned near as reliable as an AK is. The rifle itself is ingenious. I gave one to my daughter for her 18th. She's now asking me to make a carbine AR for her because she likes MY adjustable stock better, and thinks the rifle will me lighter weight, and at which she will give me the DR-200 back. I've already purchased the upper and lower for it.
The K2C is a great rifle, not without its faults. The DR-200 is a severely neutered version of it. I passed on getting one because the support for it is virtually non-existent since they’re not imported into the US anymore. The DR-200’s barrel twist of 1/12 severely limits your ammo options (assuming you want to shoot accurately) and swapping the barrel means getting one custom made, which would probably cost as much as a new AR. While SNT Motiv, the new manufacturer of the rifle, has a factory here in the US, doesn’t seem like they have any plans to make the rifle here anytime in the future.
I would agree the mutant is not a true hybrid but man is it accurate and fun to shoot as well. I really appreciate that it uses cheap ammo and magazines. I tend to be a AR-15 guy but wanted a 30 caliber that uses cheaper than standard .308 ammo and was lighter as well so that puts me with a psa KS-47 or cmmg MK-47. I went with what I feel is a better built weapon the cmmg MK-47. I really like this rifle a lot and can’t seem to put it down.
There are two AR/AK "hybrids" I've heard about, one was the Joshua Mk5, and there was some other nonsense one I saw at a gun show in Arkansas, that hybrid had AK internals, but a single monolithic milled body out to the fore-end. It was available in both 7.62x39 and 5.56/.223 Edit: I think it might have been the "M10x elite" from M+M industries.
@@nikoandroman Well, this particular rifle operates with a long stroke gas system of an AK-47 and it uses an aircraft grade aluminum of the upper & lower receivers, ejector, hammer strike, bolt carrier, opening and disassembling of the upper hinge of a M16/AR-15. And it feeds on M16 type magazines with 5.56 ammo. Much like a FN FNC and SCAR. Just look up on Daewoo K2 videos on RU-vid and you'll see what I mean. 😩😒😔😞
Goguryeo Flame Eagle Hmm interesting I didn’t know that. I knew about the gun before, but since the externals look nothing like a hybrid I never assumed it would be one, but apparently it is for its internals.
Maybe you need to do more research then: 1. Upper and lower receiver 2. Left hand side bolt release 3. 5.56 caliber 4. Push button mag release (AR mag lower) 5. Takes AR mags (AR mag lower) 6. Sealed upper receiver 7. Thumb safety 8. Similar style lower trigger guard
@@OriginalBongoliath The 556 maybe, not the 556r. The Swiss guns of course are stamped receivers, take proprietary magazines, have a lever mag release, are only "sealed" in that it has a rubber bushing where the charging handle retracts. The rest of the similarities seem pretty superficial and I'm not aware of any design elements of the Swiss guns that were inspired directly by the AR (outside of the 5.56 chambering) but if you've got any info on that I'd be interested in reading it
@@OriginalBongoliath Sealed up upper receiver and thumb safety aren't really features unique to the AR platform as sealed up upper receiver is present on HK designs and thumb safeties are on both HKs and FN FALs.
@@kamenridernephilim actually just modified stoner 63 barrels and the mags where designed after the 63 mags. Other than a barrel and mag design for a cartridge its all ak "style" mechanisms
Immediate clarification- I'm an AKM Guy. I've owned my WASR10 for many years now. However, about 4 years ago I picked up my first AR15. More specifically an Adam's Arms AA15. I moved to a farm and found that my WASR10 didn't leave much meat from squirrel's and rabbits. I also figured the AR would be an easier shoot for my wife. (I was wrong) But I digress. In my shopping for an AR15 I came across my Adam's at Bud's Gun Shop in Gatlinburg TN. I immediately fell in love. I had found an affordable 5.56-.223 with a gas piston actuator. In my mind, I got AR15 accuracy with Ak47 reliability. Although my WASR10 does hit golf balls repeatedly at 60yds with a holographic sight. I've been able to drop groundhogs at 300+ yds with one shot.
Norinco released the M305A a semi M14 clone now in 7.62/39 . The ,7.62/51 M305"s have been amazing at about 450$ us and was no restricted which was a big deal. The M305a could have been a mini 30 for under 500$ with none of the restrictions of The AR or Ruger. Also if the mutant was a hybrid you could almost call the 5.56 AKs hybrid as well.
Ban assault rifle 15s and silencers which make the 9 inch diameter bullets SILENT. You should not be able to walk into a gas station and buy this. #MAGA
I was hoping you would mention the Galil Ace in 5.56 , I got one because it had a lot of features that I wished my AK had for years. I straight up bought one as soon as I seen it, and you can't go wrong with IWI.
I agree 100% about the PSAK-47 and the CMMG Mutant series: they're internal gas piston guns (not true DI, as the gas is channeled into the gas key into the center of the carrier), an identical design to all other non-piston ARs, and have non-milspec lowers that are configured to use standard AKM/AK47 magazines with the traditional paddle release. The SIG 556R (and all the 556 guns, really) would fall into the same category as the Galil ARM, Galil ACE and the Valmet series of rifles: weapons that are based on the core AK operating system, with improvements made due to advancements in technology in the intervening years. Also, yes, the Mutant uses an AR-10 sized bolt and a "mutant" AR-10 bolt carrier, with an AR-15 sized tail to allow it to use AR-15 buffers, buffer tubes, etc.
