If you move from California it is affordable, any other state Phoenix is very expensive! Homes are $500k or more. Gas prices are $5 a gallon, electric bills in the summer are up to a several hundred dollars. The excessive heat will drain your body energy. Just wanted to point this out for someone moving from the midwest area.
There are homes under 500 k. Lots of amazing homes under 400,000 in Buckeye. 🙂 and it’s definitely more affordable then other states than just California. Colorado, Washington, New York, and New Jersey just to name a few ( especially when you consider property taxes). But everything else yes. It’s hot and gas is expensive!
Also you spend more money on gas because everything is so spread out, utilities are very expensive because you A/C runs at least 7 months at year. water bill will be skyrocketing also for not having enough water in the desert. The rocks on the freeway and heat will bust your windshield and replacing it will cost money. Arizona long term in now sustainable
Thera are many other areas that are more expensive. New York and Chicago for example. And property taxes in Chicago are about 8 times higher. Yes you can use public transportation more easily there but if you own a car you will be spending countless hours parked in traffic and getting parking tickets left and right whether you have earned them or not it. Brutally Cold, wet dark winters and cold, wet dark spring and fall. Phoenix isn’t perfect but the daily life there is overall better than in many other places.
I can’t wait to move back. I agree the 4pm darkness during winter is depressing. That’s one reason why I liked it down there was because it stayed lighter longer in the evenings.
I didn’t realize what I had in Arizona until I moved to Denver. It is crazy how early it it’ll get dark. Grass isn’t always greener on the other side I’ve learned!
Arizona is sunny yes It’s called the Desert 🌵 life for a reason Same thing happens in New Mexico and Mexico it’s self as far as the sunny weather / heat
Summer Formula- Run errand early am to 10am Indoors to 4 of 5 pm By that time shadows are over the pool - time for pool happy hour- then dinner later in day
what some of the cooler communities close to Phoenix? i know Prescott is nice but is it a little cooler around carefree/cave creek area compared to Phoenix metro area? or do you gotta go up in elevation more? i was just curious what towns have tolerable summer weather yet within reasonable driving distance to Phoenix if you needed premium medical care/banking/lawyers etc etc
Hi! Yeah, definitely as you go up an elevation that could be the case but honestly if you’re within 45 minutes of Phoenix metro, all the cities are going to be extremely similar. Even if you were a little bit higher in elevation, you might save yourself 2° and temperature. You’d have to be getting closer to an hour and a half away to see a difference.
I'm Chicago, and I wanna move to Phoenix, Tempe, Chandler, and Gilbert. I have a job that is remote, and we have an office in Tempe. I wanna a fresh start on life. I'm 38. Do you help single people?
Moving to AZ from Guam, USA (Unincorporated Territory). We have year round summer season; it’s hot & humid (80 degrees and up) and constantly raining. I also have moderate psoriasis which can be a pain when it gets hot and cold (weather wise). How would you describe the dry heat feeling vs humid (sweaty) heat? Thanks so much.
Awesome! What has you moving to Arizona!? I’ve never lived in a humid climate, but for the people that I do help move from humid to the dry Arizona desert, they say the heat doesn’t feel as bad because you’re not as sweaty lol It’s hot but it’s not muggy. So think oven not sauna 😅
It got you commenting on it. Arizona will always make the top ten. And I can prove it... Please name the top ten states you're referring to so everyone can know you pulled your comment out of your ASSets.
I loved that you threw Alabama under the bus...my dad lives in Alabama in a city that was named after a character from the bible....Nooooooo!!! the Southeast can be cool if it weren't so bibley...the midwest is also too Bibley.
