I did try every comb you can think of, (horn, wood, cheep plastic, cellulose acetate, everything lol). The Kent combs (cellulose acetate) are great, but still would get static. Now all I use is the carbon fiber Chicago combs (the #6, #8 and #9 (aka the pet comb) I use the 6 and 9 for heat styling. I use the 8 to finish and shape, it’s also my pocket comb for out in the world styling emergency’s Great video Dan! I hope every bearded person out there stay’s far, far away from those cheep pressed plastic combs 💯👊🤘

Hey Dan!! I needed this video on all levels. The things that you pointed out I have been very guilty about when it comes to combing or picking out my beard fast. I received this as correction and I’m gonna run with it. I am totally with you about having different combs for specific assignments. Like for me, I love to use a wood pick to help distribute the product throughout the Beard, but I am all about Chicago Combs when it comes to styling and adding volume. (No. 8 & 11 to be specific and No. 10 to carry in my pocket)

I wear beard for ~20 years but always it was short because my hair there are very curly and it always looked like face pubes. Around 2-2.5 years ago I decided to don't care about how it looks and what other people will think and finally go for big one. I started using Chicago 8 after one of your videos from last year I think. I was using Kent but it's too small and irritatingly static (it's ok for moustache but I still prefer different - those small ones that's look like made exactly for moustache), I was also using those cheap ones and switching to Chicago combs was really something different. I have one in shower to use it like for last step there to untangle after washing and before drying. Another one is near my "station" where I have oil, hair drier etc. I'm thinking also about getting no 7 also.

I see all these videos (which I love) about how to grow a beard! But I gotta say, I don't think I've ever seen the most actual, important, how to grow a beard, advice video..... For new and intermediate beardsman suffering from wings and or dips i found this technique really good for drying and the combs size and type are huge deal to make the process simple and take least time. Check out Dans blowout video for better visual, this is how i work it but every beard is different, my hair is darker curly european/indo-european hair (every color, from distance looks dark brown) for reference which works best with heavier oils: Use blowout with hairdryer (air going up into beard from below) and pick like 7 or 11 from Chicago, or any good quality one of different material but similar shapes, pick because you can get all the cheek hairs up and out evenly, go one more time with the big Chicago Comb Model 8 for underside and forward, casually line base up evenly. Now you are looking kinda crazy but if its at all uniform its good. Now with Heat Brush use light pressure, no need to go down to skin, and with mild outward angle line up everything to where wings would be. If no heat brush Model 8 with hairdryer on medium and gently downward nice and easy. Hair Dryer and comb maybe even the easiest/quickest but i find i have less fly aways with a heat brush like Aberlite (lowest temp personal preference.) Then use "cold shot" (no heat mode on hair dryer, setting and or button) it into place regardless of if dried with heat brush or dryer+comb. Boom now no more crazy wings and your beard is full as can be. Where the wings would form is now lined up with the rest of your beard so it will just stay full and uniform all day no reason to stress. 💯

Literally just used it 5 minutes ago. Loving it! Was outside at soccer all day and my beard was a ratted nest. Did a couple sprays and was able to get a comb through easily. Went unscented so no scent boost but feels refreshed in beard.

@cubiczirconiabeard5366 it’s pretty much a mid-day refresh on days I’m out and about. I’m glad I have it for that though!

Carbon fiber is a game changer. If u guys want to stick to one comb only: carbon fiber it is. With that being said , make sure to lock around. There are companies that offer grade A carbon fiber at better prices. You shouldn't pay $10, $12, $15 for one comb. And like Dan says, different combs serve different purposes , try and test and stick to the ones that works better for you.

Thanks for sharing! There are layers to value and price. Ease of purchasing. Customer service. Warranties. Etc. Cheapest is rarely best, however there are hidden gems

Are you a fan of Beard picks? And I've seen so many videos talking about plastic combs are bad for beards what's your opinion?

Big fan of pick combs for adding volume. Plastic depends on the type and quality. The cheap plastic is bad bad

How to make my beard grow long? I know there is a trick.. what is it?
@DanCBearded
@DanCBearded 11 месяцев назад
No tricks, unfortunately. Patience and healthy habits. You can try taking biotin (lookup Dan C Bearded biotin here on RU-vid) and it can help the hair grow faster.
