Unrelated to the topic of this video, just wanted to say that the new intro (the pixel play) looks absolutely awesome! Really digging it. 1st watch through of the video, I stopped and went back, just to see it again. Don't know where you got it from, but please keep it!

6. Don't use too much oil 7. Don't listen to your own negative thoughts 8. Remain positive, patient and committed 9. Stay away from "growth products " 10. Don't sit in any barber chair without communicating what you are trying to achieve. They may know what's in style and what they think is good for you but in the end you know your face and beard and you are the one that has to live with it. 11. Don't make the mistake of not listening to Dan.

Aren’t beard growth product’s helpful? Like a derma roller or minoxidil.
@Knickerbocker_Ave
@Knickerbocker_Ave Месяц назад
@43En what I mean by that is stay away from buying products that market themselves are beard growing oils or serums. There really isn't a quick and easy fix. Dermarollers have a place, yes and so does minoxidil but I recommend you doing the work of finding out if your genetics are capable of a beard, then try and grow one. If you feel you need minoxidil, I recommend you checking with a doctor first to see if your heart is healthy to withstand any side effects as well as other alternatives.

If you trim and get an oopsie, don’t beat yourself up and cut or shave it all off. Work with it until it grows out. It’s usually not as bad as you think and you’ll be farther ahead in growing it out. It took me 2 months to grow out a bad trim, but would’ve taken a year to grow back from a clean shave.

I've gotten some passive aggressive comments on my beard, and they never really bothered me. My wife did not want me to grow it out, but when I made the decision I let her know that this is one subject that is non-negotiable, and now she actually loves it and is obsessed with it.

A big thing for me was learning my climate. Living in FL it is HUMID. Using thicker beard oils, balms, butter or waxes in the morning makes my face and beard a greasy mess all day. Using lighter oils only in the morning has drastically changed how my beard looks and feels. Great video as always

I live in Texas and have figured the same thing. Will be making my own oil later this year and have been searching and learning the different viscosity of carrier oil. I have found one company that makes an oil and butter that seem to work great in humidity. Try live bearded as their mix seems to work good. I try to stay away from a lot of heavier oils, although I have many different types, and like you it seems to work
@minuswon

What lighter oil brands work well for you? I tried luxurious bastard /calm and like that and bahawat currently. I'm not sure what category these fall under, but I'm trying to figure out the best situation for the southern humidity
@kwlambright
@kwlambright Год назад
@@minuswon lived bearded does well. Beard of god and anointed beards have some that work well. Brokeassbeards when it’s not as humid in Texas. I also have some oil coming Wednesday from daily grind that should be good by looking at their ingredients but won’t know until it gets here. Iowa beard company doesn’t seem to be as heavy as most heavier oils. Hope this helps

One of my biggest problems is picking at my beard. You run your hand through your beard, feel a hair that doesn’t feel right, and you pick at it. I’ve ended up with a floor full of beard hairs and an uneven side of my beard. Try to avoid this temptation.

Don't assume that the beard you have when you're 20 is going to be the beard you have for the rest of your life. If it's patchy at a younger age, don't give up, getting some mileage can do wonders for your beard growth. I didn't realize my beard's full potential until I was in my late 40's. If it's thin or just not growing the way you think it should, give it time.

Probably the most important advice I’ve seen yet! I’m watching Dan exclusively now. I’ve committed many of the wrong things like improper comb/combing, beard oil over use, I even watched some else’s video who suggested I trim my beard using a #3 and # 6 guide to make it look longer. Guess what? I lost a lot of length, I now have waves and dips at the jawline. Save yourself some time, effort and heartache and watch all Dan’s videos. It’s worth his wisdom.

Great video Dan. #6- If you want a medium to long beard you gotta get through the awkward stage. For me the 1st month and a 1/2 is not awkward, it looks good. But from about 2 to 4 months my beard is sticking straight out in a lot of places. It's not horrible but it's not what I would like for a beard. But as it gets longer and starts to hang down it's a game changer. And I love my beard now. I trim it every few weeks with scissors and keep it at about a 5 to 6 month length.. and that's how I like it.

I have a lot of people in my life who hate my beard and fill their minds with selfish narratives about why they think I wear my beard. One of them being they think I want to hide my face. First of all, that's never a man's prerogative for wearing their beard. Second of all, my beard makes me happy and confident, and I couldn't care less about what people who hate my beard think of it. Let men grow and wear their beards whenever they want.

Nice information as usual dan c i would like to add one tip which is applying mustard oil on beard believe me i am using since a month on my 7 inches beard and i didn't even feel to apply balm or butter to that. All day it's nourished deeply till next day. I believe as we use mustard oil for cooking so we can also use it for beard pure mustard oil on damp beard nothing else I feel need of.

I stopped shaving in December of 2013. I think the biggest mistake I made was not giving it enough time to just grow before trimming it. I thought that because it didn't look good in the first 2 weeks, it was never going to. Boy was I wrong, just let it go and don't touch it for *at least* 90 days.

Except for the sections that started “… mistake to avoid is avoiding …”, which were brutal on my brain, I think you covered the issues very well. Please allow me to say a lot about “pushing in on the jaw line (to avoid dips)”. Your videos about the erroneous emphasis on beard oil “for the skin” and letting your tools do the work cover this. I want to share what has proven effective for my beard. When I applied beard oil “to the skin under my beard” I never felt any oil was reaching my skin. I only felt my fingers going over the hairs. I concluded that advice to use a comb or brush to spread the oil to skin and throughout beard is good advice - at least is seems so for my beard, and I feel it on my skin. I comb or brush slowly and gently (to avoid tangles and breakage) in 3 steps to distribute oil and eliminate dips: First, with gentle skin contact, move down to where my beard starts on my neck. Second, up from there. Third, straight down past the jaw line with no skin contact from there to the end of my beard.

My own biggest former problem over trimming and I now have stopped except for my lining I study on top of that but also I've been using a beard straightner use a good Argonne oil to help it not ruin your beard or damage from the heat although I have recently started using a blow dryer I like it more it helps hold down the stragglers all day and straightens so well as long as I use my beard oil and butter start on hot dry then after you done styling use cool dry setting then it will stay in that style

Hello Dan, I came across your youtube channel not to long ago wanting to grow my beard as much as possible just like yours. I'm still 19 and I'm still in experienced and I just want to ask a couple questions. How do I start to make a routine for my beard? I'm hoping that I can match my beard routine products with my hair products. I've already started using only coconut oil for both since I know it has some benefits but my beard still isn't as soft as I would like with my hair. Can you recommend something else that is cheap and reliable for both my beard and hair? Any kind of help would be great. Hopefully I can learn a lot from you and many others in this community.

Fifth mistake is a huge one. If you want to grow a beard you literally have to let it go and let it grow. Too many people don't have the patience or self-assurance to ignore negative feedback from others, especially family and friends. And they just end up trimming it too short or shaving it. I'd say give it at least two months, whether it's patchy or not, and just see how much progress you make in two months before doing any sort of trimming or shape-ups (try not to go to the barber or trim it yourself until at least two months. And continue along with that rule if you want to grow it even longer and longer).
