“Beginner” & “monster fish” shouldn’t even be in the same sentence. I imagine that has a lot to do with why you are a rescue- beginners don’t know any better. That being said, lovely fish & I enjoy the channel!

It is a lots of fun to watch these videos . I'm a fish keeper with 2 -72G , 2-50G and 4- 20 G long , & 3 14 G cubes. All nano South America and Southeast Asia biotopes.
I’d say a “beginner monster fish keeper” would have several years of experience of regular sized fish keeping. But if someone is jumping straight into this hobby I wouldn’t recommend Aros or Pacu.

Hey Josh, I’m not a fish expert but I believe what you called the red belly pacu it’s a mix between the tambaqui and the red belly that we call tambacú back in Brazil. Again that’s what I learned back there and I could be wrong. Thank you guys!!!

Great video Josh, Man i have to say that those Cichlids in the monster pond are getting big. I hope that you guys do another underwater video soon of that as well as if possible you should do the Koi pond as well.
Amazon red tail catfish would be my first choice,have always wanted one,sort of glad they are hard to come by here in Australia cos i would not be able to stop at one 🙂👊🤜🤛👍🇦🇺🇭🇲
@@zac71418 well that’s the problem. You see the people coming into a fish store are often ignorant and they don’t excpect the owner or employee to stock a fish that gets 3 feet long lol. The vast majority of people coming into the store don’t own monster tanks and aren’t experts. But the owners know these fish are cute and sell them as babies. The owners of those kinds of stores should be ashamed of themselves but some people are just evil man
Is there a way to identify RTC gender or even possibly breed them? What physical appearance do they have to differentiate the gender? Giant Gourami keeper here lol
@@MrEarth-dr9sj they are big and slow the little fish are fast, also they get fed big pieces of tilapia so they dont have to chase there food around, im sure things would change if i didnt feed them so well
Every one of those fish are completely and totally awesome, and…. they should be eliminated from the hobby. I'm not saying they should be banned. I just don't think they should be available to the general public. Far too often people don't understand how big they get because they don't do their research. That's why they end up in the waterways and either die far too young or live and become invasive. That or they wind up at a fish rescue like OFR. If you want to keep a fish like that, you should have to buy a permit and prove you can house these animals long term. If not, just keep shopping. I mean seriously, how many Average Joe fish keepers can adequately house an alligator gar or an arapaima that can potentially get 10 feet long? That's just my humble (not so humble) opinion.
