I wish people would stop calling these videos "lifehacks." Lifehacks are supposed to make your life easier, and these do not. Just call it, "cool things you can do with lighters."
No. 1 has a high possibility of a hospital visit as an end result. No. 3 will most likely melt the plastic bottle and in turn quickly ignite the ethanol soaked cotton. Possibly burning down your house if no. 3 is left unattended. Both will give you a good story to tell people who ask you why you look like Deadpool or how your house burned down.
number 1 and number 3 are very unsafe. because most lighters are not supposed to be held on for more then 30 seconds or else the flint that is used to make sparks super heats and explodes. you can see a demonstration if you take apart of lighter and pull off the wheel and see a bit of metal with a long spring. light this to red hot and throw it on the ground and it explodes with a bright light. number 1 hold down the spraying bit causing heat to build up. and number 3 using a cotton wick so close to the igniter is the same principle. number 2 is just how tweakers light up meth. number 4 as a make shift soldering iron is actually pretty good. unsafe but good.
Ok so the idea is, "lighter dead? no sweat. Just get a plastic bottle, scissors, a bunch of cotton, electrical tape, a soldering iron, ethanol which everyone totally has lying around & build a new one"... Or just spend a buck & get a new lighter. XD
that is just in case the lighter resevoir is broken or need more bigger capacity of gas but thats not necessary to have a bigger one but if you have a broken resevoir then this would be useful
Andrew Miller what if you dont have a solder and practically a solder needs electricity so you need power supply of course you dont want to waste ur time looking for one when ur starving. (unless you do the tutorial in making the lighter as a solder but there is no connection on about that cotton lighter I'm saying bruh)
kris that soldering job was a really bad one though😂😂 Probably just invest in an actual soldering iron if you're going to be doing any soldering on any wire larger than what he did, and if you're going to be soldering more than once in your life. That would be a huge pain because the paper clip would cool off so fast you would most likely never be able to finish a solder in one heat, btw, don't cold solder like that.
#4 would produce a "Cold Solder Joint" this is week and in many cases will increase the resistance of the wire. You have to flux and heat the wire a you apply the solder. I must say #5 was pretty cool as cutting foam is a mess and if you need a small piece its hard to do.
I can't believe I just wasted 8 minutes of my life watching a 5 year old play with lighters and a glue gun he found in his mom's pantry to make larger, more flammable one time use plastic flamey things things that will melt immediately because of terrible engineering. I guess I'm the fool for thinking this was going to be more than pre-school playtime.
Thanks for sharing 👍 instead of gadgets that only direct fidgety fingers around in circles that gives way to nothing really, you came up with something from what others would have not considered doing anything with. I may not use them all but there's some I'd try out. Either way, it's got my gears going and wanting to piggyback my ideas off of what you began. I love the crazies and the creative in spite of the tone of "wtf" that's bound to be expressed by the uninterested (pretty funny too though once I'm done being defensive lol 😅)
Soldering iron trick is amazing and will save me out in the field at some point for sure trying to see if something works at an Electronics fair or whatever that's amazing thank you
As a life long smoker, of various different things, I guess this guy doesn't know that black plastic near the sparker melts and would ruin any of the work you just did.
Bro I build the beast of a beast that could withstand that 😆 stoned shit less I got the notion to try it do to the fact we were having a power outage and no candles ....I used copper pipe fittings along with brass fittings.... they were bad ass all you need that is not metal I'd the pull out top from a clipper the one kind that has the packing tool/flint holder combo dealo..... they are bad ass I'm working on making a few larger ones that will be tiki torches for the yard with thier own sparker on each so you can just walk by and swipe a finger 😆
The fact you just mentioned Comedy Gold from chowder shows me there are still good fans of those awesome ass old cartoons on YT and the internet, I love it.
There's really not a point to any of these things. You use a soldering iron to make holes in a bottle cap but then use a lighter and paper clip to melt solder in the next "hack".
These are not "hacks." It is just things you thought of when you were really bored. 1 is contrived as shit. 2 is a neat trick but not a "hack." 3 is a complete waste of time, and 4 and 5 are the same thing which is taping a metal thing to the end of it.
@@jhondisjames2151 those cheap little lighters can't take the heat for long. The longer you have it lit some parts are getting brittle, some are slowly melting and others are getting very hot. It's not going to take long before that cheap little sucker has gotten too weak to hold the pressure from the fuel in its weak cheaply made little fuel chamber and either POP or KABOOM! Take your choice. I take these cheap things apart to salvage what I can for repairing other lighters. I've seen the damage done to some of the parts after just a few days use. That's why most of them are disposable. Sometime throw away after just a few days use.

# 1 is dumb bc the black button you press after sliding the wheel releases the fluid so you’ll just be releasing fluid all the time and that can damage your lungs a lot
I cannot use a regular lighter. I have arthritis and find it painful and difficult to hold a small lighter. This is a great answer to my problem. Just because you do not see the usefulness does not mean there is not a use for it. They have also made a refillable lighter which I like to see. We throw away to much trash already. I have used #3 for a month...no problems
zach miller given that was electrical tape it would have a chance and them lighters are thing plastic not supposed to be heated up anymore than necessary
So is the point of this video to show how to blow your hand off? I'm sure the metal that you are attaching to those lighters to get them red hot is cutting into the tape or the PLASTIC lighters that they are attached too. I believe I'm no chemist or gone to school for chemistry but I'm sure if you mix lighter fluid with red hot metal you get fire and if it's in a contained space like a lighter, it goes boom. Not sure but I think that's how that works. If you read the package of those lighters it says to not remain lite more than a minute or two anyways at max. Just saying.
