Want to know the best mods for your 2004-2006 GTO. Here is a video explaining best mods for the money that you can do to completely change the character of your GTO.
Not an interesting upgrade but one that will make the most difference no matter what you have: Tires. good grippy wider summer tires will put down the power, help in the corners, better braking, everything.
This is so true. My daily driver is a VW GTI and for three years I lived with the stock tires, on quick starts it would spin tires and the handling was very good (it is a GTI) but with Michelin PS4S the car is transformed and the handling is tremendous and it does not spin tires on quick takeoffs. It feels like a different car. Yes, 100%, tires are probably number one. And the difference in cost between a new set of mediocre tires and Michelins is probably the cheapest on the list.
It's super true, the 18 inch rims that come stock make the thing a death trap, 17 works too but I'm going to recommend wide body kitting it to put 16s on
Very true, first mod I did to my GTO and it looked stupid, until I finally put coilovers on it. But I didn’t care one bit, the tires dropped my 0-60 by .2 alone.
Great suggestions. The car is almost embarrassing with the stock suspension. After you install these upgrades you mentioned, it's essentially trackable!
I was impressed you knew about Baer brakes. I know of no other GTO with them (there must be, but I have never heard or seen one other than mine, or even heard anyone mention them except you) even though Baer makes a set exactly to GTO fitment specs. Not sure which coilovers you had at $1800 but KWs are awesome coilovers but cost over $2k now i think. I would have DSS carbon fiber one piece in my list of top five, but that is what makes a horse race, everyone has preferences. anyway, great video.
One piece drive shaft was one of the best upgrades on my GTO. Sway bars and big strut tower brace tightened the front up alot. Still need to do bushings and brakes. Where do you find the CTSV brakes? Junk yard or some place sell the kit?
I would recommend a decent cam also 70 to115 hp for cheap.in my 05 my I run a Brian tooley 231/242/617/595 it woke up Godzilla when I started it lol.just got the wife a torrid red 06 pedders rear springs, slp long tubes good tune it ran a 12.67 at 108 mph on 19" rims street tires.hers hooks n books .gonna take mine to drag strip in spring .great video
@@Sub4CarClips btr stage 2 or 3 up to you auto stage 2 m6 stage 3.do the trunion upgrade to rockers new push rods and lifters oil pump and timing chain if you can afford it. It will last another 100,000 miles. Later yall.
My o2 fuel mixture code comes on and off. My 05 is automatic tranny but I love it and it's very fast. Got k&n air filter.and think it's just the sensor.factor exhaust too keep quiet so 5-0 don't hear me coming.but I'm thinking of putting new mufflers. kept it as low profile as possible tho bc I already have to many tickets .came with engine bar to keep it stable.great car.got with 10k miles and I'm up to 100k miles.i just keep up on oil and breaks.most issues are sensors
Agreed that is high. Ijust had my 05 rebuilt.heres some list i can remember. Pistons Had to bore .020 over , mellings oil pump , cam 228/232 600/600 Texas soeed , timing set. New PRC 220cc alum hrads , new lifters/ trays of course dual springs longer pushes..topped offf with MSD Atomic Air force intake . Dyno tuned. 460 hp ( rw) 392 torque. Total 10,335.69
Only things didnt chsnge ..crank , piston rods water pump. They said no worry bout pump waste of cash. This is my first LS2 they tough but expensive to fix.
They are about the same. Only advantage to wilwood is they have rotors and you don’t have to get the hubs drilled out every time you replace the rotors.
Long time Pontiac and GTO owner myself, very good points. But, l suggest if you possibly can , buy 2 GTOs!...One to keep original but still enjoy , and a second one to add all those mods ! I have an all original, stock 2005 with Automatic, 57k miles .it was suggested by several people to keep it all original as the value will eventually go up significantly in 10-15 years ,as a collectible . I can't bring myself to modify it . BUT, I'm seriously looking into another decent, or even high mileage 04-06 to add power ,and the mods mentioned in the video! I liked them stock , but a turbo ,or supercharger and all the other mods mentioned would create a HELLCAT 🔥😺 Killer !!!
Dude I’ve seen 04A4s do 297whp the m604 will do 300+whp 320+ wtq all day stock bone stock. With exhaust intake and tune ive seen 365whp on an otherwise stock 04. They’re def underrated 280/290 you’re talking like 98-02 fbody lol
Idk what kit your looking at but these engines can make 600+ reliability. Then when you build the motor. You can use the same kit up the boost and e85 and make even more. I'm sure these blocks can handle 8 to 900 easily. My LS3 block can handle 1300 to 1400 hp with forged internals. So I'm sure the 6.0 can handle alot too. You should watch Trey Herrera He has a gto also he did LSA and now turbo making wicked power on stick motor for Hella cheap
Anything over 600 on a stock block is borrowed time. Also trey did everything super cheap by parting everything together himself. I’ve talked to him multiple times.
@@austinkeys_ trey and many ppl have LSA the gto 6.0 engines to 700 too 800 whp and years and years bro. Trey has his set up on LSA around 700whp and 800whp+ on turbo together its been 5 years
@@davidtranmedia5112 you also have to look at the abuse they put them through. If you really race a car and bang limiter. I promise you that engine will not last. It’s all relative on how people drive. I’m not doubting that 6.0 can handle that.
@@austinkeys_ that is also true. But like my ls3 stock block and forged internals making 1200 to 1300 hp. 3 other SS with ls3 all turbo with 1100hp stock everything only couple valve train mods and they daily and auto cross or drag every weekend for 4 years now. Look I am just letting you know that your motor can hold a lot more reliably If you think you know better than just stick with what you know I'm OK with that. End of the day is your car in your money. I'm just giving you a heads up of I know. I'm just giving you a heads up of I know. I'm not talking out of my butt I am literally telling you what I have done to my cars and what my friends have done with their cars with unbelievable Power. Hi go by proof in the work I go by proof on how what is done in how long it has last. Numbers don't lie you know? Cause you know there are a lot of people on the Internet that Just says a whole much crap and don't know anything. But I have spent my hard earned money doting motors so I've learned a thing or 2. My recent build. 40k motor and turbo kit alone. That's keeping my Ls 3 And making it bullet proof inside and out. And another thing. For an engine to last the main thing is not how hard they drive but how good their tune is. If their cars were built right and tune by someone that knew what's up. Thier engine would literally last forever. For example the shop building my engine/car. They build to perfection then gets tuned by Adam Cooper and Rick Crawford. All of their cars takes shit at high hp all day and Night for over 30k miles. I know of 2 to 3 ppl. Then I know ppl same car and engine and built to Sam's specs make less power and still blows up
@@davidtranmedia5112 I guess I’ve just seen a different side of things. Because I have guys I race with and they have stock blocks and are pushing them to the max but blowing them up. I guess it’s luck if the draw.
I do not know where you get your prices, but the super charger cast me 3000, that was with install, gained 300 hp, headers lost hp, the stock without cats a near same hp, up grade pipe size gain on hp plus torque, I do not know what you did,but I have changed the cam, and run the viper transmission.
@@shanepulford7520 2k gets you the supercharger and no lid. You have lots of other parts you have to buy to complete the kit. You might be able to buy everything used for 4k but buying a supercharger used is a gamble.
Thank me later 1)Coilovers 2)Headers/Exhaust 3)Sway Bars 4)Brakes 5) Bushings but imo if you have a stock gto and want to slide your best bet is coilovers, exhaust, cam, welded diff, hydro e brake
Im a rookie but learning. I bought an unused set of rear coilovers on impulse not knowing much. From your experience, will coilovers only in rear be beneficial or actually cause more issues? Ty
Yer full of bs. A full exhaust system plus a OTR CAI is 20-25hp not 50hp. I have a 06 with a few bolt ons. Yes, GM left HP on the table with stock cams and intake manifolds but youre being too generous.
