I like the 3.27 gear .. I know that it is not ideal for acceleration , but I really like that I can do 140kph at 2500rpm , I can go somewhat fast without harming the motor

On heavier cars with automatic transmissions, deeper gears are the way to go. Don't waste your time with 3.55 or 3.73s. Those are for lighter cars like a Mustang. Go for 3.90 or 4.10 gears, believe me you won't regret it. You get much more torque off the line and with an overdrive gear you can still cruise on the highway and get decent fuel economy. With 4.10s I get about 2300 RPM at 70 MPH. If you slow down a bit on the highway you can make up on the gas mileage if it means that much to you.

Got a '09 P71, handles like a dream, i can go in hot pursuit of time when I'm late to work. I can make half the normal time. All i do is just keep her maintain like it always has been. I got records of her since her birth. Got her for sale now. She's got a newer transmission. My wife was driving it to work responsibly but i got here an SUV she liked so with my truck no we got one too many. I'm in Chicago, IL USA Hasn't tap 100k miles yet.

I'm transmission shopping now myself (T3650 manual swap for my low miles 05 CVLX). Once that's paid for, I'll be shopping for the 5.4 swap, because everyone needs more torque :) .. Good video, nice to see some one point out that headers aren't needed, and some realistic numbers for an upper intake upgrade.

Gears, is the "best bang for your buck" with these cars,the 3.55 or 3.73 makes a world of difference!

I put all new police suspension in my p7b and man that car handles everything totally worth it might be harsh at times but still reliable and I did one thing at a time with motor craft parts.

#1 should be upgraded and oversized front rotors. I got the KVR setup for my Marauder (check my Avatar). This will allow you to wait until the last minute before you slow for the curve, leaving "the man" way back there thinking you can't make the turn. Now, about making turns... #2 should be a 1-1/4 inch rear sway bar so you can make sharper turns. Now about coming out of those turns... #3 was close, perhaps you could use 3.55 gears like my Marauder but if you're going to do that, why not go all the way and have the mechanic install 31 spline axles and replace that man-killer Traction-Loc differential with a Torsen T2 differential. The Traction-Loc tries to lock the two axles together and on wet roads or coming out of a turn and kicking it in the A$$ you will lose traction on the inside tire and often lose control. But a Torsen T2 will differentiate and you'll do a lot better coming out of turns. Also the control arms and Watts link upgrade is a good idea. I have Metco polyurethane arms on mine and they keep the rear suspension tight as Dick's hatband. #4 is correct, upgrade that tranny. However the 4R75W is good enough if you have a good technician put in a shift kit for racing Mustangs. And if he's good he can modify the shift schedule as well as remove that 120 Mph limiter in the computer. #5 should be dual adjustable racing shocks, front and rear. QA1 makes the ones on "Quicksilver", my Marauder, and I have them adjusted so they're one click stiffer extending than compressing. This makes the car get lower as your speed increases. I've had Quicksilver at a buck-forty and she's about 1/2 to 3/4 inches lower at speed than sitting still. All that power stuff you did? *Save your money bro and when you get 5 grand get a good technician to put a turbocharger setup on it.* You'll gain 150 horses and be looking for 180 Mph tires. And with the good brakes and suspension I just outlined, you'll be ready to better control those horses instead of driving a death trap.

Another thing to do especially on 02 and earlier, or any of them for that matter. Is swap out the intake manifold for the frpp intake. Resolves the factory defective intake bond between the aluminum water passage cross overs and the plastic intake. And will typically add about 10 to 15 RWHP. As a side note: frpp claims 30 hp increase from there manifold. So basically, cut in half for the real world.

great vid bro!! but word of advice, the vics, marquis, twncar etc.. with the electronic throttle body(ETB) ones, dont put a CAI into it if u dont want to do some tuning with em. Its not hard but up to u. heres directions for cars with ETB. 1. unplug bat first, then the fuel relay, then install CAI, plug bat back in and crank for 3-4sec., unplug bat, install relay, plug in bat and and wait for 3 sec in the on position then start and u should b good to go. best suggest is go with the Cable throttle body so u dont have to do all that to tune it unless u really want to. 😎😎🤘🤘

I never had a transmision fail on a Crown Victoria or Grand Marquis, owned three in the past and two currently.

Spinning is not winning..good tires should always be your first mod..a tune up, a set of gears and a handheld tuner should come next..with a tuner a j-mod would be pointless..the drivetrain in these vehicles are extremely durable and unless your getting them from morons they are very rarely damaged to the point of needing a replacement..I like what you did with the video tho..keep up the good work man

I feel with transmission issue depends on how well you have taken care of it and how you drive. Mine has 435,037 with original trans and it still smooth.

Mpt tuning also has a good panther tuning platform as well.and yes every lil thing you do to these cars engine wise or transmission will need a tune to have them running there full potential. horsepower and torque.

Thanks for a good honest video.. and not the typical "straight pipe" .. Exhaust does have to be addressed but it's not bad. I have a 2011 and it has the drive by wire so I guess it limits what I can do with the throttle body.. I'm learning

'06 and up stock TB spacer has comb structure covering about 1/3 of the hole. Remove. That by itself will increase throttle response off the line. Not sure what hp gain if any but the motor will feel livelier at all speeds.

Crown Vic’s, Gmarquis and town cars are the last of the modern hot rods/modern classics. Chevy has a few dodge has a few but for me since I already own a 97 Gmarquis and just got a 96 p71 I figure buy a few more cause before long people will want more for them cause they will realize what they got. If your thinking about getting one- get it before someone else does, or me :)

I would bet most people don't realize how much power over stock a simple tune would make. Most cars will see well over 30 hp at the wheels with just a proper tune and all the little mods would only help that even more.

You can slot a t body off a three valve 5.4 to work. Gears....3.90's are what you need. Also the best swap for the panther is a five speed swap. 😈

I put a spacer in mine and it ran a little wonkey. So I unplugged the batt to reset. It took a few mins but it ran better.

You definitely need a tune with the bbk. With the stock cams it was ok but once I added the plenum and cams it needed a tune hardcore.

2011 grand marquis with dual exhaust and steeda pullies. Is there one more mod I can do without a tune?

Just wanted to throw this out there. On 03's you cant do the intake side stuff (not even a good cold air setup) w/o a tune. The computer can't handle the difference in increased airflow and you'll wind up w an extremely lean condition. (I know from personal experience!! ) You'll either need a tune, or a piggy backer that will adjust for the increased airflow. Just a heads up.

Also HP with out tune with just the BBK 78mm plenum is more like 4-5hp with out tune with a tune I’ve seen on dyno like 8max

I had a crown vic p71 adtr.net expensive but I'm telling u them guys r very knowledgeable... What's the vote on the steeda under drive pulleys I never did it but read up on it and read some stuff about battery charging problems and cooling problems

what kind of performance trans would you recommend? the 4.6 comes with a 4R70W what other trans could you put in there to match the ECM/modules etc? unless you have it rebuilt shift kit and stall added? best mods for CV #1 3 pc underdrive pullies .. #2 adjustable fuel regulator set to 40PSI #3 Trans cooler with J MOD. #4 DEMON Coils. #5 The Big 3 wire upgrade.

When it comes to rear gears I've always gone 3.73's wit an Auburn posi which is comparable/in some cases better than Ford Racing & is cheaper.

That’s not a plan and that’s the throttlebody, The intake Plenum has the tubes that go to each individual cylinder, the intake manifold.

What actual intake you going to run on your 5.4L?? The 4.6 with spacers? Or the truck intake? You should have touched on that.

The hell with this crap. I swapped mine with a 2010 cobra motor and computer. Left the original exhaust and 3:55s in it and its become a crazy sleeper. No one knows its got 200 more horses under the hood but they still think it's a black smokey on the highway

Yo bst I replaced my my intake manifold, and every time I pour coolant in it always leaks in the back of the engine bay it’s leaking on top of the trans any ideas

Step 1 upgrade suspension Step 2 update rear diff step 3 upgrade brakes step 4 buy a zz 527 / 720 connect and go with a 1080 or 6mt trans. Step 5 get a tune step 6 laugh while the SRT boys cry while you Gap the crap out of them with a naturally aspirated motor.

I bought 75 bbk throttle body for my 95 vic! But the reason I got it is becuase its making a jerk after driving it warmed up for 20 min. I checked for any codes in the trans and everything seems ok so fingers crossed!
