Coming from a custom build carbon wheels with CK R45 on my last rim brake venge to a now Sworks 2020 Venge w/Clx 64 on upgrade 54t I definitely prefer the smoothness of the CK and the engagement is superior you don’t feel even sense the engagement as opposed dt 54t clunky noise when engage sometimes depending how you apply power. Been thinking on changing the rear hub on the clx to a CK, will see

I miss silent freewheels. We used to take the Park 'Freewheel Buddy' and inject Phil grease...they would be absolutely silent.

Love the sound of those Chris King but yea sinec it's ridiculously overpriced, I'll stick with the Zipp. I just ordered at PBK the 303 Firecrest few days ago, can't wait to try it out this summer! Replacing the Roval C38 I had with the quiet DT350 it came with.

I figured CK would be number 1. Personally, I prefer the “chunky” sound of the enve hub. The lower pitch has a quieter confidence to it.

Wait I have 2 sets of Chris King R45 hub with and without ceramic bearing (rim brake model though). But I thought the sound change by speed is normal for all system similar to CK's RingDrive. Not sure since I have no experience with DT-Swiss internal hubs... Indeed CK hub spins crazy when I coast in high speed....

I enjoy quiet hubs. I changed my DT Swiss from a 54 to 18 ratchet to decrease the noise, and for me it was bliss. I also really like the Shimano free hubs sound. Dura Ace C 40 is my favorite.

Sadly it doesn't work like that. What you actually did was reduced the degree of engagement. If you want to reduce the noise just put more grease.

Totally agree. Can’t stand loud, obnoxious hubs. Love the refinement of a quiet, higher pitched hub. To me it just sounds like Swiss clockwork. Loud hubs just seem ridiculous to me and I instantly think less of the rider who has them.

Hi GC Performance, I just bought Roval Alpinist CL HG wheels (the $1600 set) with DT 350 hub and 18T, but there is almost no freehub sound when I rotate the wheel in my hand? Is this normal? Did Roval apply too much grease in there or the combination (DT 350 + 18T) does not have loud free hub sound? I like loud free hub sound and I am disappointed so far with this purchase.

no 18t is the most quiet and sounds very quiet go with a 36t or 54t and it is night and day like super loud
