I gotta say, Moxsy you are killing it with the Wonderlands content. With Joltz recovering from his injury and not being able to provide a tonne of content, you have taken front seat as the primary source for information on this game. Keep it up!
There's also the Calamity that shoots out a ring of comets when it lands. There is an unlisted effect which causes them to leave a damage puddle. Because of this the spell covers a massive area.
I'm on my first playthrough and still using a lvl 6 dark magic purple Calamity with lvl 21 Spellshot. It's starting to drop off, not quite always killing badasses every time.
Personally the calamity spells are my favorite, but they do have some buggy interactions based on where you aim them and when there is any overhead objects. However with type you are talking about, those bugs can actually lead to absurd solo target damage as you can get all of the bonus projectiles to explode in one place. I have not tested to see if the damage puddles stack however, but if they do then it could be something to look into.
I'd give a honorable mention to the Arcane Bolt. It's super short cooldown allows you to spam on spell cast enchants and the damage isn't bad. It's also fun to rag doll baddies off cliffs with the Twister.
This isn't for pure spell damage, but on my companion graveborn I've been loving the magic blasts that spawn hydras on impact (forget the prefix). Sometimes I'll shoot them at enemies to finish them off, but mostly I just chuck them out for faithful thralls
Personally I’m a huge fan of the Meteor Spells even though I know there is a lot better meta choices out there. I think maybe a slight buff to all iterations of Meteor spells would be nice especially the big slower crashing affix version’s.
not sure about end-game, but going through story, my first favorite spell was the meteors, as they one-shot pretty much any mob enemy and if there is a grouping of enemies, all of them are dead. only down side is that it takes a second for the meteor to fall, so sometimes the enemy is out of range by the time it explodes.
or the enemies dont get the full damage done to them and then they get ragdolled, but by the time they get ragdoll i would have usually had a 6 shooty revolver with very high dmg to kill them with
I got a chaotic frost barrage with 4 homing projectiles, and it’s a repeat cast which reapeats 5 time (20 in total) Purple chaotic, lvl:40, Item score:449 Spitting Cascading Magic Barrage Damage: 113x4 Crit chance: 5% Cooldown: 25.3 Bonuses: 1 status damage 2 spell damage Element: frost 151 dmg/s 22% chance Enchant: after getting a spell kill, gain a 50% chance to shoot an additional projectial for short duration +150% Spell crit chance -45% Spell status effect chance +62% Spell cooldown +3 Projectial per cast Slows enemies Repeating cast Launch additional projectiles over time towards other nearby enemies
I use the ice spell that spawns icicles between enemies since you can miss with them and it will still go off and hit enemies, so you can never miss. The repeating ones are kinda fun cuz you just constantly cast it. Not the highest damage individually but when it can richochet multiple times between 2 enemies it melts.
i like the talon spells i have found dark magic, lighting and fire talon spells each with 2 charges, i like that they seek out enemies, they do one shot the lower level enemies. i do wish they had ice and corrosive talons as well.
With the cloudburst, alternating between left and right cast keeps you with a more consistent damage output and you keep yourself from casting two spells on enemies that may die from just one.
threads of fate is the best spell for me in the range of level 25-30 simply because you can do a very good spellcrit build that will carry you through your 1st playthrough, you might need to kill zomboss for some hours, but it's definitely worth it.
Ice spike made rest of story mode became easy as Spellshot class because of great distances and useful against air enemies. Surprising its only a "epic" and "not legendary". I gladly didn't sell it because of the crazy numbers caught my attention. All I ever need now is finding 2nd book and put the right builds. Now we are ready for any dlc coming up.
Just got into borderlands and I'm playing my third character which is a spellshot. I'm enjoying it so much, but this video really helped me out to get a better grasp of all the spells out there and how good they are :))
I'm a huge fan of the Calamity spells. Pretty early in the playthrough, I found a Calamity shower, actually 2 of them. It's pretty dope, but it doesn't do as much as my Twister or this other Calamity that I found with Redick damage. There also happens to be a blue version that is even cooler, but does significantly less damage. And a buddy of mine shown me there is a legendary Calamity spell as well.
Alongside the two mentioned ice spikes, I feel like the trickster ice spikes were overlooked. The function that they ricochet to enemies, off walls, back to enemies, can ping between flying mobs, and a missed spell might still hit an enemy. They roll from 1000, to 1300 as the highest I've seen, 60+ crit damage, and up to 3 charges.
I’ve been using this spell, they’re nuts. Even if it doesn’t kill the mob I always see it bounce back and finish it off or it’ll bounce around and just 1 shot an entire pack. It’s so fun to use
@@Phantom_Anthem use it is a brrrzerker/spellshot and channel 2 at once, even if the enemies don't die they will be frozen. Not the best for bosses, best for mobbing though.
I've been using a number of Hydra spells... current spell is a lightning hydra that spawns another when an enemy dies after being damaged by it.... paired with a solid Feriore pistol that spawns a flame hydra on reload. Apparently they scale with *Companion Damage*, so some of my skill points in Spore Warden tree have been buffing it. They're not big-ballers on the damage charts, but they do have good range and targeting, as well as proccing elemental effects. Also, the hydras themselves are adorable, especially in larger numbers.
I love the frozen orb spell as a cold sorceress main on diablo 2 it screams nostalgia! Admittedly its hard to do a lot of damage with it if the enemy moves alot but to me frozen orb is a permanent part of my build.
i have a triple ice spike of experiments. status chance/spell charge rolls. 3 charges. +2 projectiles per cast. 537x3 20 sec cooldown tho, but it does exist! i was going thru my bank wondering which spells i should keep, this helped so much, thank you. edit: spells not on this list im a fan of include: spell charge calamity, just really fun tbh. cooldown rate damage reduction self cast sigil, you can basically keep it up 24/7. skullantir, my first legendary so it has a special place in my heart. but i also enjoy the voice lines, dark element for healing, and the homing nature of it. temp companion thats very mind off. inflammation of winter and frozen orb are cool/fun too but i just find purple spells generally better and/or easier to use.
Thank you for excluding the buffmeister spell, way too many amateur RU-vidrs trying to make build videos when they are in fact using a bug/glitch and it's not a build at all. Pretty despicable what people are willing to do for views.🤦💯
Using the Frost Calamity that breaks into smaller meteors or the Frost Calamity with 2 charges in combination with the Spellshot's Gun Crit Resets is super chaotic and fun.
Wyrdweaver- Tricksters Ice spike (bouncy ice shards, hold to keep casting, can kill enemies you can't even see with proper bounces) Conjura- Calamity (with spell text, Meteor releases ring of projectiles on impact) can roll with 2 spell charges. Wyrdweaver- Consuming Eruption (fun spell for mobbing, many snaps that cause singularity then explode. Brings in barrels for lots of laughs.
Cloudburst arc torrent and impaling ice spike is what I kept going back to all the time through the campaign(spellshot/stabbomancer), not finding any legendaries or other spells as strong and versatile. Run them on chaos chambers too now. Arc torrent has one big downside vs ice spike- it has limited range, so on huge boss arenas you might actually be out of range to hit the boss, where ice spike range is infinite, you only need to aim better.
Make sure to watch the video at least once but TL:DW: 1. Impaling Ice Spike 2. Cloudburst Arc Torrent 3. Triple Ice Spike 4. Quaking Sunder 5. Concentrated Magic Barrages Honerable Mentions: Buff Meister Thread of Fate Glacial Cascade Twister Marshmellow
Triple ice spike for me. I went all the way to chaos 20 using a purple and a blue triple ice spike. 2 charges on them and the low cooldown allows me to spam them pretty effectively. Biggest drawback in my opinion is dealing with really fast enemies like pig wart who are really hard to hit with them
I'm surprised nobody mentioned the spell "Inflammation". I got this legendary not long after hitting 40 and while it doesn't have super long range it feels very strong close to medium. Just a huge firehose of flame that melts everything in front of you whether it's a boss or a bunch of enemies. It also has 6 charges and only 6.1 CD so it's almost always up. My only complaint is I got a bad enchant even after re-rolling it. :(
Hi Moxsy! I see you really digest Tiny Tina end game. I’m having fun with consuming Eruption. Is not hitting as hard and gave a relatively low base. BUT it’s a repeating cast so you need to multiply to 4 or 5 that base. Plus it collects all foes Ansley scales with splash. I haven’t got any rolls close enough to be good for any you showed. No luck. This one, two charges and low cooldown. Keep the good work. I’m looking forward also for builds that works great without perfect rolls as you have. Cheers!
I found a chaotic blue cloudburst arc torrent after level forty but WELL before endgame, and sweet frak I need a purple one, or a legendary if such a thing exists, because the BLUE has CARRIED ME. It is my go to for mobbing on my Spellshot, combined with a buffmeister it just cooks EVERYTHING. The only time I swap it out for something else is bossing, where I use triple ice spikes. The chaotic blue Cloudburst Arc Torrent carried me to and through Chaos 20, it's just the BEST spell for mobbing.
I just wish the game would give you a short video of how each spell looked when you use it. I get overwhelmed sometimes with the amount of different spells there are and what each one does.
The arcane bolt is the fastest casting spell and if your build has a high recharge rate and you have a dual charge version I can spam that spell all day long with virtually no down time. I'm a spellshot-graveborn focusing on dark magic and I use a dark magic buffmeister with my dark magic arcane bolt.
Consuming Eruption Spell with both Singularity and Repeating cast, Can completely shut down any badass/elite mob and make it so you can just shot them or melee them, The repeating cast gives about 5-6 casts per charge, very good spell both on mobbing and bossing front
I like the calamities. The downside is they’re slow to refresh but i found a few that gives me multiple shots. Good for mobbing. Ok for bossing( depending) it stuns for a bit too so sending down a couple at a time does some work.
Singularity and bouncing ice spike i think deserve honorable mentions as well. And ice spike that can preform like a ricocheting bullet is just such a solid high dmg mobing tool. Same with singularity. Plus side is for the bouncing ice spike too is that it can do solid boss dmg if it bounces back.
The Cloudburst Arc Torrent has been my go to spell since I found one in my first playthrough. I'm not playing a spellshot though, so my strategy has been to charge the spell while I empty a clip into anything nearby, then cleanup with the lightning bolt and reload.
I think the Reviver spell is worth a mention, it has solid damage, revives and heals team-mates and can come in 2 charges (atleast what I've seen). With the cap stone for spell shot you can spam it away and do massive damage.
Running an Ambihextrous Deadshot I prefer Wyrdweaver. Consuming eruptions are my favorites. Currently running a poison and a dark magic, each with 2 charges. Hold to cast 5 explosions that hit hard and can ragdoll comedically well.
Quaking sunder is amazing. My first play through I got one at level 16 and was using it all the way to level 40 and even through a few chaos levels. Carried me so hard
I agree with the purples ending up being more useful than legendaries. The gimmicks are cool, but most of the time they are more situational. It felt like the Arc Torrents started doing less damage for me after the hotfix, so I ended up switching to a pair of Overwhelming Magic Barrage (repeating cast, x7 and x8 projectiles per cast, dark magic). The homing aspect makes a huge difference, in my opinion.
@moxsy triple ice spikes can have 3 charges but they seem to be very rare, it also looks like that additional projectiles take away a charge, you need to look for the times 3 variant. I have one if you want to try it out.
I use twister and since I put that on….for some reason my fire rate becomes absolutely insane. So holding the liquid cooling I rip through bosses after casting and it does insane damage. Am at capstone with spellshot but only noticed the rapid fire when I found and equipped this spell
With every video of yours, you make me still hyped for this game after a looooots of playing. Cant wait for the first part of the season pass! You got any hint about the new class? 😜
You should check out the fragment rain smg. It's my go to for mobbing, hits have a high chance to ricochet. That's right, hits, not crits. Combine that with the buffmeister spell merge, and you can clear on obelisk on chaos 20 in about 30 seconds.
Calamity meteor that splits into smaller meteors absolutely destroy mobs. And I see a lot of people sleeping on the cast on owner spells that put the sigil around you. If you run into a mob and drop that you can nuke a lot of people especially the ones that have the hydra that spawns with it.
I just bought the game today and I'm lvl 4 and as a reward from a random encounter I got one if those concentrated magic barrage of Augury with +2 spell charges. I wish I could post a picture of this
Thanks for the video =D I find it really weird that in this borderlands more than others, purples are really dominating and making builds thrive more than legendaries xD
you should try using glacial cascade while your right next to an enemy, it casts all the spikes in a single spot in front of you if close enough, doing some pretty nice damage.
my brr-zerker right now i'm sure i'm using a pretty unusual spell.... Empowering Sigil with frost element, almost anything gets frozen instantly and then mowing time with melee attacks
On my Burr- Reaver I'm using a Burgeoning Imminent Calamity with a x3 damage, 2 charges, and cooldown of 9.9. It wreaks small aoe, to set up for Dire Sacrifice.
I swear every time I pull out a new spell my friend says what the hell was that. Basically every spell is comparable to legendary grenades from previous borderlands games. It’s amazing
I like the arc torrent that you can hold to cast multiple. Mine calls 4 lighting bolts per spell charge and has 4 spell Charges each doing like 800 damage at my level which is pretty solid I think
There's a other version of Sunder that's sends out beams that hits everything. You should look for that one. It's good for stabbo subs as it basically spreads the dot to everything around the target, going through walls and hitting things in the air.
You mean the Spell-nade from the Claptrap quest? Hard agree. I was heavily relying on sigil in my first playthrough so I didn't touch it, but I just got it on my second playthrough and it is just melting mobs. Gonna be super sad when it gets too underleveled.
I picked up the ice spikes from your save file, working on a sever the thread build with really fast spell resets, but not quite there yet on the god roll gear :)) will post in discord when its done
