Who do YOU think are the top 5 best flanks in Paladins? Do you agree with my list, or do you think someone else deserves #1? EDIT: I am a proud Azaan enjoyer, don't get it twisted! Like I said in the HMs, there are too many powerful tanks to mention in this video, and Azaan was one of them. Azaan is also the Cassie of the tank class. That is to say, everyone thinks he's powerful, everyone enjoys him, but he's actually got a pretty bad win rate. As of 28 July 2023, Azaan has just barely a 50% win rate in D+ ranked (using the Reddit server bot). This actually makes him the lowest win rate tank in the game. Across all ranks, it actually gets worse. While he's no longer the lowest win rate tank, his win rate still drops to 48.5%. Meanwhile, Torvald has a 57% win rate, Nyx has a 57% win rate, and Inara has a 55% win rate across all ranks, and Torvald has a 60% win rate, Nyx has a 57% win rate, and Inara has a 54% win rate in high elo ranked. I love Azaan, but I also have to face the facts and consider the data when making this list. Win rate isn't the only factor in putting champions on my lists (which is why Torvald isn't #1), but it is an important statistic nonetheless.
You should make a video featuring how to make use of Azaan, specially his longer cool down talent, since surely that also make a play on the lower win rate of him,.
@@i_fuze_hostages6 Azaan is also one of the most picked tanks in the game. Truly, the Cassie of the tank class in every regard, as Cassie is also a very popular dps. And of course, a higher pick rate means a more accurate win rate. If they have a high pick rate and win rate, they're busted. (i.e. Grover/Furia)
@@jpg4923as someone who has played Inara since paladins basically came out, Inara was average for the longest time. It took consecutive buffs to get her into a good place. She’s only seen as good because you actually feel the impact of a healer with her. Other tanks just have to suffer through cauterize.
Ngl, facing your Inara in the last part of the video was really fun. In our party of three we were just floored at your sustainability. Lots of fun, glad to have made it in the video! I was the Rei you dunked on a few times LMAO.
Yeah Azaan op same with atlas and ruckus is still really powerful. Inara can not carry because she is too reliant on healer and she honestly feels really clunky. Torvald is shit, khan is lame and I don’t rlly think he’s very good, nyx 😂 boring ass character who does negative damage you might as well heal the enemy

Inara really is powerful because of Mother's Grace. It's unfortunate that they've decided to nerf Earthen Guard in her base kit, as her base kit is already fairly balanced.
Very important reminder for those who are new or wanting to get into tanks. I want you to take notice how in majority of the clips displayed he is either being pocked by a healer, pushing with someone else, or being ignored by the enemy team. Im not saying this to be rude or dismantle his points im bringing it up because applying pressure is VERY IMPORTANT to success. Your flank/DPS needs to be able to apply pressure to prevent the enemy from targetting your tank and bursting him into dust. Another thing is these are display clips so obv they are just going to be highlights. But just remember even if your a tank you cant 1v5. I guess to sum all this up. Dont play a tank expexting to hit clips like the ones in this video. When you play tank 80% of the time your going to be focused a lot, and i mean a LOT. Tanks can be good by themselves but you need to remember your champion is double cheeked up 24/7 meaning your hitbox is absolutely massive. Play with and around your team. Peel for your support, enable your flank if you can, if their tank wont peel take advantage and apply pressure on the backline to let your flank secure picks. Anyways this is just a reminder to those watching this like "yea i cant wait to play tanks!" And think that clips like these happen often. Just remember that these clips are for display.
@marquesdesir2843 peeling Is the tank or off tank abandoning point or their current target in order to protect their backline such as a support being attacked by enemy flank.
3:00 3:18 Dam that was toxic. Khan + Ruckus ult Atlas. What did Atlas do to you? Surprise that Azzan isn't even honourable mention despite he got buff last patch.
Say what you will, I still love Raum and I feel like he earns an honorable mention. He might not be fancy, but with his huge hp pool and certain builds, he makes for an immovable object on the point. Plus, you can either have massive uptime on his ult or even dip your toes into healer with subservience, and help keep your team alive. I will admit he doesnt always work, though.
Man Raum is always fun. As Fernando main, i love Raum when i estimate he can work. You just cant get him outta your face! Also subservience the best probably imo cause you fight and cause pressure and that HELPS your team sustain.
Finally, 2023 top 5 can end. With the forced cross play. The top 5 have been a disaster. I get why but it doesn't change the fact that some champions shouldn't be in the TOP 5, like would controller players have evie in their top 5? No, right? Then koga shouldn't be in the top 5 as well in my opinion as a MnK player. But again, I understand why it happens
Evie is good on console. just use the perfect sensitivity and trust she won't be difficult. Evie is a very strong flank anyways. All talents work, her reset cards and movement speed cards exist, she does decent dps, good mobility, etc.
Number 1 is always *F E R N A N D O* Actually i wouldnt say hes #1 cause Inara just too thicc but #2 nonetheless idc at all. His ult is easily the strongest there is, he can reset his dash and is VERY mobile, he can easily switch between frontline and enemy backline to apply pressure on enemy healer, giving his team space to deal with that mf immortal Inara and then dashing back to his healer's line of sight with some shield hp left till hes back in cover. As for Atlas (i love every tank but Atlas is among my top boys in terms of enjoyment), hes just as strong as Fernando (my MAIN 🍷🗿) but hes a bit more team dependant and cant protect his team that well. If u use a wall u actually have a downtime and that means u are vulnerable and its not as easy to hit ur setback so its not as reliable to protecc ur teammate whereas Fernando just presses E or in my case, a triangle.
(OPINION) Torvald is garbo and doesn’t deserve to be top 5. Azaan, Atlas better than him, and torvald does nothing for his team but be a double support who becomes useless late game when people get wrecker
agree, sometimes i find myself picking torv when i see the enemy comp has a zhin/koga/talus or just whatever high mobility/high escape champion and he always falls off after a round or 2 because people just buy wrecker and resilience and the only 2 things that make your character good now are gone. atlus and azaan are definitely better in this current meta than torv and ruckus
Torvald is actually extremely powerful, and honestly deserves a higher ranking than Rukus on this list. As an off tank/support main currently in master's, Torvald is a force to be reckoned with in ranked. Field study is currently the meta, and you usually pair him with a tank that doesn't rely on a shield like inarq, Azaan, or nyx for Max value. Forcing the enemy team to rush wrecker and resilience gives your entire team an invisible advantage in terms of items, and the pockets +dmg bonus almost always lead to favorable trades. The other winning bonus is lack of ult charge or credit gain from destroying shields, which translates to another teamwide advantage. Some characters are just stronger than others, and torvald is a champ that emphasizes this greatly
Torvald has a 60% win rate at high elo, and a 57% win rate across all ranks. He's really, REALLY good when played right and paired with a good dps/flank.
I like your videos and appreciate the tier lists but there are always some super goofy rankings in there😭No way Ruckus and TORVALD(?!?!) is on the list instead of Atlas with unlimited walls and Azaan that makes unlimited space every game, especially after they both got buffed. (top 3 are fine since they're obviously the best tanks rn) PS: yes I've been playing pretty much only ranked this season, going up and down the ranks in masters.
hmm normally i agree with your vids but not really this one, i get its just an opinion vid tho and i have my own opinion lol, still love the content. although i also dont think that a top 5 really works for this class due to the role difference of point and off, although i get why u put it into one video since top 5 point tanks only would be pretty weird
Noice! I remember when I first started playing the Paladins and just kept point tanking ruckus; sadly after getting smushed so many times I stopped playing him as much and moved to inara, barik, ash and now nyx. I just started playing a bit more ruckus now though and having fun trying to be that off tank menace that he can be.
Small correction: Ruckus miniguns do 1000 dps. The fire rate in his description is wrong. You can test it yourself by comparing it to Raum, who actually does 800 dps with a similar weapon type
Vic aint good cuz high burst dmg is popular rn. But tanks are op so u can try Fernando or Khan. Or Torvald later on. Zhin is strong and beginner friendly and has 3 skills to avoid death.
I am alone New Player but I think Raum is pretty good (as an off tank) because he has a healing talent and can do loads of damage and has mobility. But I want to try Khan has someone a good build I can try ?
Thanks for including the talents in the reasoning where they apply, it paints the full story for how some champions are better than others balance wise.
@@panteliscaragiorgis1409 Oh totally, I'm actually having difficulty here seeing Torvald over Azaan on the 5th spot. Like yeah Torvald's good, but Azaan can still mow down half the team by himself with his BS anim-cancel combos with solid DR and early game lifesteal / sustain, and that's just never not relevant imo. There's also the added bonus of not being countered by wrecker
Torvald and Ruckus have no place in this list, Fernando and Azaan have a performance miles ahead of those two right now, Torvald is close to Azaan's value but theres still a clear gap between the two.
wait, no azaan? he isn't the best tank, because inara and nyx and definitely the best, but he is easily better than khan, or at the very very least he is better than ruckus AND torvald
Nah khan is the best off tank right now. the only tank that shouldn't be in the list is Torvald. he's like 7th. Atlas is better to be honest. Azaan should be on the list. Torv still strong but Azaan and Atlas and the other 4 in the list are just better frontlines overall.
If we rank them by strength, ignoring skill requirements, I would rank them like this: 1. Inara 2. Azaan 3. Atlas 4. Makoa 5. Yagorath This is my opinion, and yes, I think Yag is strong in the right hands.
@@panteliscaragiorgis1409 idk, he does best on specific maps, high mobile stuff like ascension peak/splitstone quarry. also some comps just tear through him like anti dive or cc stuff
A good Ruckus player is both hard as fuck to kill and *will* kill you in a heartbeat if you step a toe out of line. Probably the absolute best tank for holding the side lanes on a map since he can keep pace with the enemy flankers that want to pick off your healer, and that's compounded on when your team knows how to play around Ruckus and help him engage for the free-est of burst kills. That, and Ruckus ult is leagues better than Azaan + Torvald ult.
