Top 5 Best Time-Themed Super Villains

Wow I've never heard of these villains except for clock king and chronos. While Time Trapper needs no change after watching this video, I do feel like that the Time Commander being more eccentric that Grant Morrison made to be awesome. And the Lord of Time sounds like a difficult character to write about, but does have the potential to be serious threat for the Justice League. Nice work Mr Rogues.

I always liked Clock King, so as soon as I saw this, I clicked right away to see if I would find any new favorites. The Time Trapper is really cool!

Time Trapper is a great villain. The whole Legion Rogues gallery is awesome and I wish DC would give fans a definitive version of the group. They have loads of potential, but it is rarely utilized. Great list as Always Rogues. For a future list, could you make one for death-themed villains?

Yeah, the way Clock King's been handled by DC has irritated me for years now. I just know that there's some way to take all these unique takes on the character and make it work with only two - William Tockman & Temple Fugate - remaining. Let William be the big surface-level threat while Temple serves as a more underground threat. As for the others, while I admit that Epoch never seemed that interesting to me, Time-Trapper & Time Commander are both really cool, & Chronos' appeal really speaks for itself.

I think Time Trapper is my favorite simply because traveling through time and messing with stuff just to see what would happen is something I've always wanted to do. I would also put together a big library of alternate timelines

What about Kang The Conqueror?

I personally love the Clock King's Brave and the Bold design, it's the one I grew up on so it's really special to me.

I love these guys! When I was younger, I really lived clocks and time in general. In fact, i loved Clock King so much I went as his btbatb design for Halloween one year!

I would just like to say that reading your description for this was insanely entertaining. And it appears this video is right on time! ;) I didn't know about the Time Commander, oddly enough, but I knew about all the others! My top three are the same as yours, albeit in a different order. 1. Clock King 2. Time Trapper 3. Chronos As for fourth and fifth...I guess Epoch the Lord of Time would be my fourth place, but since I haven't read anything with the Time Commander, and I don't know any other time-or-clock-themed villains off the top of my head (the closest I can come up with is Immortus from Marvel, but even he probably counts more as a "time travelling" villain than an actual time-themed character), I guess this is just a case where I don't have a full list. :P And on that note, I believe I shall clock out. There isn't a second to lose; every minute is money, and the hours won't be ours much longer if I'm not quick! ;)

Yes! Loved this one, thank you Mr Rogues! When you mentioned all of Clock King's appearances outside comics, I was surprised that you didn't mention the "Arrowverse" version, played by the great Robert Knepper (aka T-Bag from "Prison Break") Tockman only appeared in 2 episodes, first in Arrow's season 2' "Time of Death", then in the Flash season 1 episode "Power Outage", but they're both great IMHO. Even if one isn't familiar with the Arrowverse, these 2 episodes can be enjoyed on their own. Anyway, congrats once again for the 10K, and thanks for all the time you devote to making these awesome videos. *Tempus fugit!*

I love these time themed rogues. The only ones I know are Kang the conqueror, Chronos, and Clock King.

Y'know I tried to debunk your claim on Marvel not having time themed villains, but you're right. They don't. They got time travelers but DC practically cornered that market too.

Mr. E from Neil Gaiman's original Books of Magic mini-series would've been a worthy entry on this list. The character was originally a hero in one of DC's horror comics, but was reimagined by Gaiman as a mentally-unstable fanatic with the power to walk through time. The fourth book of the story saw him travel through the future of the DC universe to the very end of time itself, so he could murder the protagonist of the story without interference from any hero.

How about comic book devils, such as: Mephisto, Blackheart, Violator, Neron and Trigon ?

Great video. I know you will get this a lot but Kang would have been a great choice on this list. Besides that. Chronos is an epic villian, better then Clock King.

Thank you for teaching me more about Clock king. I like what Batman TAS did with the Clock king but the original made me relate more.

Kang-Rama -Tut-Inmortus, is my favorite time villain, Steve Englehart and Kurt Busiek, among others , did great stories with this time traveller.

You know the doom patrol has there own timed themed villain and his name is Dr. Tyme he is basically a villain who kinda looks like the clock king since he has a clock faced also he is a forgotten villain and I hope you can one day talk about him in a future video.

Shame Kang the Conqueror from Marvel did not make the list. XD

Also my favorite time themed villain is Pastmaster from Swat Kats.

I would have picked Kang the Conqueror....he's the best Time villian Marvel has....I liked how you explained the Time Trapper....I once had to try to explain to someone who the Time Trapper was and boy oh boy was that hard....Kang has the same problem....Kang and the Time Trapper have histories as labyrinthine as Time itself....Chronos deserves all of the love....and I agree that Time Commander rocks....methinks that DC should bring Time Commander back...

Perfect timing

This is an interesting topic since when you really think about it, there aren't that many time themed super villains. Oh sure, there's plenty of time travellers like Nimrod, Fitzroy, Dr Doom, and Kang the Conqueror who is probably comics' most prolific time traveller since he's travelled so much that there's multiple versions of him throughout history including Rama-Tut, the Scarlet Centurion, Immortus and Iron Lad. You could actually make a top five best Kang the Conquerors. But time travel is more of a plot detail than a theme. Heck, my suggestion of Chronosaurus Rex was half joking until I realised she really is the only time themed Marvel villain I could think of and in fact the only time themed villain in general I could think of besides the guys on this list and Doctor Yesterday.

How about doing one of these on villains that use fire as their weapon, like Firebug (Batman #318). Flame Master (Detective #308), The Blaze (Batman #69). I’m pretty sure there are more. Could be a hot video.

Time villains are probably one of my least favorite tropes, but that 70's Clock King story just sounds freaking amazing. Chronos could be good if they mad a good Atom adaptation, and time villain for animal man or maybe expanding it into the Swamp Thing universe, with the Green vs the Rot and the Red and an introduction of time as a natural phenomenon.

Forgotten villain The Clock, from Detective Comics #265. A Batman villain.

I know a number of people have already mentioned this, but I'm surprised you didn't put Kang the Conqueror on this list. True, time specifically is not his gimmick, but time travel is. He's messed around with his personal timeline so often that his alternate selves have actually formed a Council of Kangs to help keep matters straight. Not to mention that he's actually a really complex character - I won't spoil anything for you, but suffice it to say that conflicts between love, honor and revenge tend to play a big role in most of his stories.

Great video. I love hearing you talk about C-list super villains. Another Top 5 I would be interested in seeing is Evil Alien Races. It would give you an opportunity to show some more Marvel love since, like DC with time, they've cornered that market. But, DC does have their fair share of alien conquerors. The Dominator, White Martians, Starro, etcetera. Nonetheless, with Marvel's Skrulls, Brood, Badoon and Kree they definitely beat DC out.

I watched an episode of the 90's ninja turtle cartoon where they faced a time theme rough also though he was a one and done bad guy .

The clock king would probably have guilt based origin story. As he slowly goes mad hunting down the doctor and doing crimes to fund his man hunt. Although plot twist the justice league know this and have the doctor in super witnesses protection (sound just what the think) .

Despite being a batman/green lantern villain the time commander feels more like an hour man villain

I feel like Clock King works better as a Batman villain. Green Arrow has always felt less connected to his home city than Batman, and Clock King's timing gimmick is largely based around manipulating the mechanics of the city against the hero. I also think that Clock King would be taken much more seriously if he hadn't debuted with that awful onesie costume. The smart suit and clock face glasses is a much better look for him.

I am pretty sad that the Organization, from Duck Avenger, didn't make the list. A spacetime crime Syndacate from the XXIII century that empolys cyborgs, droids and time pirates to steal from the past and the future, occasionally changing them even to save the time itself. Raider, Newton, Kronin, Gryphon were some of their top executives, and were all pretty compelling characters.

Personally, I find that making endless TIME puns is a waste of TIME. After all, TIME is money, and to have a good TIME, you have to something something TIME. TIME TIME TIME TIME TIME TIME.
