I just want to share my story... I used to have bad breath too. Lasted for almost 30 years. It started when I was in high school (maybe earlier) with oral bad breath only. Through the years, it got worse and I developed nasal bb. People would smell my breath even when I wasn't talking. It is one of the most embarrasing and humiliating period of my life especially when I started working. People could be rude and mean. Some made me aware they know my breath stinks. I tried literally everything to get rid of it: Therabreath toothpaste and mouthwash and other regular mouthwashes Baking soda Antibiotics (Flagyl, clarithromycin, amoxicillin clav, Rifaximin) Antifungal (Flucanozole) Oral and gut probiotics Liquid chlorophyll I have seen a lotttt of doctors from at least three countries I've worked in: Dentist ENT Gastroentrologist Endocrinologist I have done a lot of tests: Barium swallow Abdominal ultrasound Endoscopy Paranasal CT scan Hundreds of urine and blood tests All normal results... I also had two (healthy) wisdom teeth removed... I even went to a halitosis specialist/clinic and spent 3K USD... I avoided sugar, dairy and gluten for 6 months... Nasal bb went away but oral bb is still present. Then, I decided to have my tonsils removed. I was hesitant at first because of the recovery process and I wasn't even sure if it would work. But I was desperate and I feel like I have nothing to lose. I owe it to myself because what if? After all, it's the only thing I haven't done. So, I had a tonsillectomy. Long story short, I am now cured and I promise to share this story to those who like me, have tried everything and nothing worked. It could be your tonsils. I also now have the pinkiest tongue ever, after the tonsillectomy. Disclaimer, I don't get tonsil stones that often, maybe once a month, but everytime I would poke my right tonsil really hard and far, my finger would smell really bad even when there are no stones. Left tonsil is okay, no smell. Also, recovery isn't that bad. I recovered in two weeks, but felt the worst pains on Days 6-8 only. Other days are bearable and manageable as long as you take your pain meds. AND You will have the worst breath during the recovery period because of the scabs and mucus and because your throat is healing, but IT IS NORMAL. I hope this comment helps some people who are experiencing the same.

I agree with your bad breath's key points. Alas! You have forgotten to mention smoking and drinking alcohol which also causes chronic bad breath especially when there is poor hygiene.

I’ve never heard of the first two testing methods for bad breath. That’s actually very cool.

Organic garlic and onions are very healthy with antiviral and anti-inflammation benefits. So they're only "wrong" foods if you aren't drinking enough water, or brushing regularly, or otherwise taking good care of your teeth and gums. 😁 Otherwise, everything here is spot on.

I had it since 1993 and I find that good mouth care such as tongue scraping, flossing, absolutely no sugar in diet and drinking warm water only works for me. When I start eating anything with sugar my breath smells🇬🇧💁🏽‍♀️

It was bacteria for me. Antibiotics did alot for me, including antibiotic mouth washes. Tongue scrapping and regular drinking of water also helped alot. Neti poti nasal rinse too.

I have really bad breath . I go to dentist every 6 months . I went to dentist specifically about bad breath . He said the bacteria build up thing too . I brush , floss , use water pick flosser ,tongue scrapper , tongue brush with tongue gel , mouthwash, and brush teeth 2 to 3 times a day . And at work where I work around at least 1000 to 2000 people I over hear some people say my breath smells bad . They offer me gum and laugh at me every time they see me and pass by me

Using a water pick before bedtime is extremely satisfying. Every night I brush for 2-3 minutes then I use my water pick. Not a night goes by that I don't see any food particles in the sink. If that food is not washed away, it will rot in your mouth overnight and will probably still be lodged between your teeth the next day. Using my water pick every night also eliminated tonsil stones ( which smell very bad).

Three things that they forgot to mention that can cause bad breath. 1. Excessive chewing gum: Since gum has sugar in it, this give bacteria the nutrients to thrive alongside the warm moist environment. The worst thing you can do it chew gum knowing you have a bad breath issue which is only contributing to the problem instead of fixing it. 2. Acid reflux - It's not always the external aspects. Internal problems such as reflux can contribute to bad breath. When the backflow happens, food that has not been digested and bile come back up through the esophagus and you can literally taste it in your mouth. This causes bad breath and contributes to a longer term bad breath issue. 3. Tonsil stones - It's insane as a periodontist that you haven't mentioned tonsil stones as one of the main reasons for bad breath. If you have tonsil stones, you can visibly see it by opening your mouth and checking at the back where your tonsils are. If you see white spots around the area..bingo. That's your source of bad breath. Tonsil stones can also hide under your tonsils so you would need to check under them for the white spots. They usually go away on its own but there are special devices that can get rid of them

Acid reflux was the reason for mine. It took me a few years to figure it out.I noticed that I always had some fluid like saliva on my tongue. I've really had a bad sleeping routine, irregular food habit, no physical activity etc. And I still am going through a little stress regarding my career which all triggers acid reflux. My doctor prescribed me two tablets, one before dinner and one after it. 1)He told me to go for carnivore diet (which is a major b12 booster). B12,Fibres,iron,calcium,vitamin d3 all are necessary to make our body produce acids needed to digest the food we eat and keep the acid levels in check. 2) He told me not to drink water in between having my meal and not till half an hour after the meal. 3) He advised me to have a walk after dinner. 4) Avoid spicy food. 5)Drink warm water on empty stomach when you wake up. 6)Eat more fruits and veggies(super necessary). 7)Chew properly while eating. 8) Stop smoking/drinking 9) Sleep early and atleast 3 hours after your dinner 10) Eat on time 11) Yogurt, buttermilk, lassi helped in my case I'm not a doctor or an advisor, just sharing my story please consult a doctor first. -Check your oral hygiene -Tonsil stones -If having any underlying kidney/liver issues - Stomach Issues (which was my case)

Forget them dont let nobody make you feel bad, and do you smoke cause that definitely can be it sinus to i have a friend she has really had breath and she smoke and has sinus infections.

I always cook with garlic & onions , but l brush after l ate my foods or gaggle with water to rince after l ate & use mourhwash at least once a day at bedtime l floss oncce a day especially if l ate meat or fish , hopes to hang on to my natraul teeth as long as l can

Hello, i have a friend with no bad breath but have stuff that come of his teeth or mouth. They at times stick on his teeth or ends of his mouth. When uses a cup or bottle slime or mucus like stuff remains there. What can be the reason,? He sees a dentist every 6 months but no improvement!

My wife is Korean and she eats some strong foods. Her foods have bacteria in it. I asked her to start brushing, using mouth wash, and rinsing more often. She took it personally and came up with excuses blame it on her culture. Culture or not you still need to clean your mouth.
