I have a severely beat up copy of that KISS rocks the world magazine to this day. I was 13 when it came out. I remember there was a page listing all of the different KISS websites. My family was going to be getting the internet that summer and I remember circling all the sites that looked the most interesting.

I love love love “Kiss Rocks The World”. I’m 36 now and when I got that magazine at the grocery store when I was a kid, it was like gold.

Adam Perkins Yep! I became a KISS fan in late 96 and KISS Rocks The World was one of my first pieces of merchandise I ever had and was a HUGE part of my KISSTORY 👍🏻

In the 70's, NOTHING was better than "Grooves Presents KIϟϟ" [3 great issues] - after that I would say "The Best of KIϟϟ", and the "KIϟϟ Meets the Phantom" Official Magazine. Honorary mention: "Marvel Super Special #1".

When I was a kid in the 70's I really wish I had kept and preserved the" 16"and "Teen beat " magazines. And sadly also I cannot find my ticket stubs from 77 and 78. Fortunately I was able to find some original magazines of kiss and am glad folks have kept these treasures preserved and I'm loving the kiss shirts y'all are wearing. Great show 😊

Great choices! I've recently been trying to figure out a good way to catalog my KISS magazine collection since I've ended up with double of several. That being said, KISS magazines are always a great area in KISS collecting... so fun!

Kiss Poster Book: I bought it when it came out. The posters adorned my bedroom walls. Today my son (15) has had them on his wall for years. His absolute favorite shots of the band. Priceless.

I remember when I was 11 yrs my mom sent me to store for some bread.. got on my Thunderoad bike and came back home not with bread but the People magazine issue!! I had just seen them live for first time moths before on Dynasty tour. My mom not too happy let me keep the magazine but sent me back for the freakin bread.As a guitar player I really love the Guitar related magazines that feature Kiss cover stories..Those are definitely my most essentials!! Again great episode. Your podcast along with Julian and his FAQ gang are my essential Kiss podcasts!!!!

Excellent, collecting vintage KISS magazines is my favorite. My parents actually got me a subscription to 16 Magazine in 1979 when I was only six years old and I have bought rock magazines consistently ever since then. My Top Five essential 'zines I think would be as follows: THE BEST OF KISS -1979 KISS MEETS THE PHANTOM -1978 KISS FEVER (Why There's No Cure) -1980 KISS STRIKES BACK - 1981 KISS MARVEL COMICS SUPER SPECIAL -1977 And once again guys, great episode. Keep up the good work.

I'm with Andrew, I would slot Rocks The World in at #5 over the poster mag (which has great posters, but rather pedestrian content otherwise) - Geri Miller and Metal Edge had terrific coverage of Kiss in the '90s, and this is her/their crowning achievement. Great episode, guys, a really enjoyable listen.

My favorite was always the Rock Scene from 1976 with Gene holding the Alive Gold Album award.

This episode was too funny. Wasn’t too sure, reading its title, how much I’d relate to it. But once you got going, and Joe started pulling out his “#5....People Magazine 1980,” I thought....shit, I had that one! Then “Kiss meets the Phantom.” Ditto, had it, sliced & diced it and pasted pix on the bdroom wall. Ditto for the poster book. And, yeah, OF COURSE the Marvel Comic is #1. I was 14 years old in 1979 when most of those mags came out. Funny, I used to have a Marvel comic collection which took up 11 boxes. I sold it all off a few years back when I needed some $$$. But, I held back 2 books. The Kiss comics #1 & #2. Thanks for the nostalgia, guys!

SPIN MUST HAVE printed many of the cover posters. I tried SO HARD, but ultimately in vain, to get those SPIN posters off the walls. They were plastered all over 4 locations I saw in the LA area. But as you know, when those posters are glued and stuck up on building walls and wooden boarded construction sites...you are lucky to get one intact.

As always another great show guys Being close to your age Jason and Joe I definitely hold.dear.to.my heart all of your.choices. I was surprised.that the Superteen Kiss special wasnt mentioned. There is just so many Kiss specials in the 70s and 80s. So many great ones even when the band didn't have the makeup on. I remember all the rock scene specials. Anyway very enjoyable show once again and look forward to the next one. Andrew I do agree with you Kiss tocks world is one of the best if not the best magazine create great content collusion. Loved metal edge and I remember they also did a reunions on tour special that had the blue cover. and another one I almost forgot that I think is iconic is whenever they finally made the Rolling Stone cover

Gotta go with Grooves #7 for my top spot. So many of those photos were completely unique to that magazine, whereas many of the other magazines in that era used a lot of the same photos. There's an abundance of early photos throughout, most notably those shot by Waring Abbott. The calendar centerfold is amazing too.

I’ll throw out another one with is great. The Kiss Extravaganza magazine from Australia in 1980. Full size Krispie poster and all Kiss content. It’s a must have.

I have and enjoy all of your top 5, and have no problem with the order. I just wish I would have known about your show 3 years ago, because Alain Bellicha, with the 4 Kiss mags(photo) I missed out on every single one of them, only because I did not know they existed. You guys should talk him into releasing them all again in a set to unfortunate people like myself who just did not know!! It's a sad thing to miss out on special photo mags like that, and I own about 5 other photobooks, so yeah, I really am bummed about that.

I would highly disagree with the Spin Magazines being essential. I am glad you guys like it but boy I could remember seeing them in the store and all I could think was how much they sucked. I have the other four you guys both have and mine were bought during the time period of issue. I treasure them and have had much of them hang on my walls growing up. Priceless years of joy.

For just U.S. mags-- because that's all I ever saw as a kid in the '70s. It's a tough call because "essential" kind of implies worth/value/rarity. To me, that's different than sentimental value. And do the Marvel comics count as magazines? I say yes. Essential top 5: '75 Rock Scene 1st Marvel comic '77 Replay Pinball issue '79 Best of KISS '79 KISS Poster book '79 Sentimental top 5: Aug '77 Circus Dec '77 Circus Best of KISS '79 1st Marvel comic '77 KISS Meets Phantom '78
