Guess I should’ve put a disclaimer but this is a best gaming keyboards video from the year 2020. That means no, the Apex Pro TKL from 2019 won’t be on here. @randomfrankp Thanks so much for this perfectly timed video. I've been spending AT LEAST 2 weeks trying to decide on a new keyboard to replace my HP Omen keyboard. Can't tell you how hard it has been to figure out what layout I really wanted and what type of switches to get. The way you deepdive into each keyboard is an amazing help to me. The 30 second sound test is much appreciated. I just purchased the Hyperx Alloy and it will be here tomorrow so thanks you for the link. i bought a red dragon keyboard and some of the switches are starting to fail particularly (A), (D). I mean they sometimes don't respond or register 1 tap twice. so that's why im here. Its not bad during casual use but when im gaming its let me down a few times or when i type an essay i have to go back and fix it.

What makes a good keyboard? Mostly I hear about how loud it is, the size, and stuff like that. But that isn’t worth like a hundred extra dollars so what makes those keyboards so high quality?

The loud noises doesn't justify how good the keyboard is. The reasons to specify a good mechanical keyboard is: switches, keyboard build, PCB, stock keycaps, the keyboard's case, extra details like: foam/ factory lube etc.

DO NOT BUY THE RAZAR HUNTSMAN MINI !!! I just "today" returned it within 1 week of owning. I will start by saying while it worked, i was in love with the keyboard... but after only 3 days of use, keys strokes stopped responding, and restarting my PC would result in extremely slow windows login times, aswell as a crashing Task Bar on windows login. I did all the necessary troubleshooting you should do (Firmware updates, Razar Synapse software, check that no macro's enabled etc) and nothing would resolve the issue. If you go on the Razer support forums, other people are having the exact same problems, and Razer is IGNORING the issues... You have been warned... but i'll repeat, DO NOT BUY THE RAZER HUNTSMAN MINI (i had the linear optical switch... felt fucking beautiful to press the keys, very sad that the product has faults)

I'd say putting only 2020 keyboards video is kind of useless if there are 2019 keyboards that are maybe better than some of these as this might be used as buying guide for some people and in buying guide there should be overall best keyboards, not only 2020. (for example, in 2019 I bought a 2016 keyboard from DAS Keyboard because that was the best keyboard for what I wanted)

“Gamer Keyboard”, people should use old or normal keyboards to play, I mean, they are much cheaper and all keyboards have the same function, right? Then why a person should pay a lot for having a “gamer” keyboard that the only difference is the RGB and the click sounds?

Membranes usually feel worse and have 2 key rollover instead of n key rollover and they also have worse durability over time

But old keyboards are usually pretty good in terms of those things so getting something like a cherry vintage or a hall effect keyboard is cheap + maybe better feeling and reliability than current keyboards
