Hey bro I had a question.. how much could I push on my stock d16y8 before it starts to give me problems? I’m doing a eBay turbo kit with all other supporting mods plus a cosmetic head gasket and arp head studs. Yes I’m going to get it tuned. Thanks!
About 240 WHP is what the D series rods could handle. Anything above that won’t last long driving hard. The head studs are definitely a must to keep the head from lifting. What tuning software you going with?
Yeah I was going to say 220-240 whp. And yes hes right about the rods being the weakest link besides the head studs, but honestly a set of vitara pistons cost $100 and you can go the cheap route and get maxxspeedingrods connecting rods for like $200 and you would have a pretty stout build for super cheap. I know a friend who made this bottom end and was running close to 400whp for 2 years no problems. The biggest thing is to have a more than necessary fuel system that way your not running alot of duty%. It can also allow you to upgrade other things (bigger turbo) and be able to turn up the boost in the future and make more power Without needing to redo your fuel system again. Try to get like 850cc or 1200cc injectors and like a 450 fuel pump with a relay kit. Sorry I started rambling but I love civics and like helping people grow knowledge the best I can.
