the last kingdom is amazing, i've featured it as a must watch on many of my lists. I even made a video about the true story of Uhtred here - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-lfCsM5lpVBQ.html
I appreciate your recommendations, however I still wish 2 non-Netflix history films could be honorably mentioned: "Henry V" starring Kenneth Branagh (1989) and "Jesus Of Nazareth" starring Robert Powell (1977). Thanks for your 5 recommendations, and the unbiased pros and cons of each!
Because of the outlaw king i have search this top netlifx historical maybe the king will be next on my list thank you very much for this recommendation.. pls keep making this kind of recommended i really appreciate it.... FROM THE PHILIPPINES.... thank you
Thanks, I really appreciate the kind words, the King is a good film as well If you want some other recommendations for some unknown historical films I released this video yesterday - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-CKGN-useSD8.html
Here’s some regular shows y’all can watch the Medics, Borgias, turn Washington’s spy’s, and reign all good history shows I love em more than the movies because they last longer
So…i had started watching Outlaw King when it first appeared on Netflix. Only saw part of it. Started rewatching based on your recommendation. Your lists are very much appreciated.
I finished up Etugrul last month. There is also a sequel that I am waiting for its release here in the States. it continues the story of the rise ofthe Ottoman Empire after Eturgrul.
I've seen this movie..Resurrection Ertugrul..to me..this movie is one of the best historic movie amongst the english movie..but yes.. no doubt..english movie has so many super star..yet this movie makes me can stop watching from one episode to another..with almost 400 mil views all around the globe..
@@jimmycarrollgodblesspoland5521 I saw "A man for all seasons" some weeks ago on Netflix. It is really good. The other mentioned films are there not available. At least Ido not find them.
Not on Netflix but absolutely loved Kurzel’s Macbeth with Fassbender. Does not have the same kinetic movement like most of the movies here but definitely compensates with engaging depth and unforgettably attractive style.
I teach history at the college level for a living. The King is an insult - utter fiction. Miserable. Shakespeare's Henvy V is more accurate - and he was writing a play that didn't pretend to be "history." Troy insults Homer. The great epic is probably not ready for the screen - of course I didn't think you could do Lord of the Rings and Peter Jackson did.
Yes i agree, that the king is very inaccurate on so many levels especially with the way they depicted King Henry but i found it be an enjoyable watch and made me do some more research on the actual events that occurred which is always a good thing. Movies should be taken as a gateway to explore history not be taken as a history textbook
Good grief - the King had Falstaff leading the English Army - bloody Falstaff, a fictional character in a "biopic." As noted, Shakespeare was closer - he left Falstaff at home. And Henry didn't kill his brothers either - the enemy did that to one after Agincourt. The other commanded English forces in the years after Henry's death. Utter insult.
I watched outlaw King,it's much better than BraveHeart which was mostly Fictional,Outlaw King is more accurate, even though some points were tangled up.
Though those are good movies but Netflix also has excellent historical movies like Highwaymen and the dig. They don’t have grandiose battle scenes but portray real and interesting historical people and events.
Troy is a great movie, but it never goes over the close love relationship between Achilles and his cousin Patroclus, hence Achilles's grief over his death by Hector. I am sure Brad Pitt was not going to go down that road.
Times have changed, the love story of Achilles and Patroclus would take front and centre and then we would probably have the love of helen and Paris in the background somewhere
glad to hear u liked the video, u might also enjoy the recommendations in this list as well - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-SjEU3MbrF00.html
Braveheart was still a good film, the fight at Lanark accurate .It would have been very difficult to re construct a wooden Stirling Bridge, which the Scots lead by Wallace and De Murray lead half the English over and slaughtered. After Falkirk Roslin was nearly a Scot victory. Wallace was betrayed by Mentieth, not Bruce. There was a fair bit of "Artistic Licence" with the history but...Outlaw King was a good followup, its a shame no films have been done about Bannockburn.
I know one war film. Two brothers fight in same team.Younger brother killed elder brother.Tell me movie name please.war costumes in the movies list last movie costumes
I love to watch movies like Lord of the ring Two towers Huntsman A movie having war but without technology Plz recommend these kind of movies thankew♥️
Can you please explain your business model? I have Netflix, presumably all the movies you recommend are available on Netflix based on your headline, yet you expect people to buy them from Amazon and give you a commission? What’s in it for the customer?
Yea sure, all these movies are available on Netflix at the time this video was published which was a little while ago but they may not still be available today so they can use the Amazon affiliate link if they wish to purchase the movie. Secondly, Netflix is different in each region so some of these movies may not be available in the region so again may be handy for them to use the affiliate link.
I can't believe how fucking good Outlaw King was and I'm ashamed that it took me so damn long to watch it. God it was so beautifully done and everyone was steller!
Yes I totally agree such a unique film, some of the best storytelling I've ever seen. The way the movie can make the viewer emotional connect with the characters is fantastic
I am very impressed with all your videos. I would like to recommend another Current Netflix Series avail. now :Resurretcion Eturgrul (also Eturgrul Derellis) and from HULU: World Without End (The Sequel to Pillars of The Earth)
turkish propoganda , thehy made ertugrel look way better , and added more stuff , removed cruel facts , its not different that propoganda , but all shows are like this anyways .
I am currently watching this series. Resurrection : Ertugrul. I struggled to start with that the Knights Templar were suppose to be the bad guys when as a Christian, I always saw them as the good guys. Then I decided that this series, done in Turkey is the Turkish point of view. Nothing more. It’s all in the eyes of the beholder. I’m enjoying it anyway and it hasn’t changed my beliefs.
@@Seajay-ey3uh I agree with you also and yes the series is from the Turkish view and both the Christians and the Mongols are seen as the "BadGuys". Yes for the most part the Templars were the goodguys ex-cept for those in Kingdom Of Heaven. Pro Templar series IMO are "Knightfall", The Arn Movies.
@@lostaggie66-canderson17 I really liked Knightfall, even though it was about the end of the Knights Templar. I’m fascinated by history so I will continue Resurrection: Ertugrul. Getting a different point of view isn’t a bad idea. I admire anyone who has finished this series. I’m only on episode 39.
Where is Ertugal Gazi promoting only Christian history not Islamic like great webseries Ertugal Gazi,Osman Gazi,Sultan Abdul Hamid this sept new series name Barbaroslar will release based on real history
Just watched The Outlaw King. Freedom for Scotland ! Finally !Alba gu brath. With love from Croatia. Flower of Scotland "O Flower of Scotland When will we see your like again? That fought and died for Your wee bit Hill and Glen And stood against him Proud Edward's Army And sent him homeward tae think again!" . . .
@@HistorySpark Thank you. I'm in love with Scotland (almost eaqualy as with Croatia). Have been there in 2019. England has done so much wrong during the past to Scots and Scotland (Culloden :(!) . It is really time to say goodbye...
The pirate queen is mildly historical, the king is less historical than Braveheart, it is pure French bashing (the good is the bad, the bad is the good), quite shameless. Troy is a masterpiece (not the serie which is a joke, the movie by Petersen) but it is not history. The outlaw king is probably the most historical war movie I have seen since Stalingrad and the thin red line. The last battle is a bit of an exaggeration but the rest is top notch.
I've never heard of the Pirate Queen but I'll check it out. But yes I agree overall with most of your statements and I agree that the king does a very inaccurate depiction of King Henry and that the outlaw king did a really good job of balancing historical accuracy and entertainment
No I don't believe it does, I dont remember anything about a genocide in Wales being mentioned. Also I believe it was only the siege of troy that took 10 years and the entire Trojan war took 80 years, could be mistaken tho
I like the epic movie`s BUT I am mostly very disappointed because of the very poor plots they have. They are so high quality in technology and costumes (good thing ) but have ridiculous simple plots ( just as they like to use the same actors it seems they have only one story line available time after time ). Extremely disappointing.....
Kingdom of Heaven, Marco Polo both those better than any mentioned in the video. The King was garbage, the main actor too scrawny to be believed he could wear 200lb armor and fight.
@@pavelivanov2999 no, you're original comment is obviously correct. Anyone whose interested in "Troy" knows fine well that the city and the trojan war is a myth. Butbsome yanks 'top 5 historical netflix films' isn't the place to sound smart...esspecially when he starts with the queen elizabeth one.
@@jesperb8626yes, this is probably not the place to be smart, but the reason for my comment is different. People will watch this video and think that Troy existed and that things depicted in the movie did happen for the most part, which is likely not true.
@@pavelivanov2999 you mean children might get the wrong impression? Adults who use RU-vid for factual information aren't worth trying to educate. And in this day in age it's practically a childs 'right to passage' to listen to bullshit on the internet...they have to decide and figure it out eventually, that's what will separate the 'wheat from the chaff', so to speak.
Loved the outlaw king great movie and acting. I do like Netflix however I do feel they have to get their P C viewpoints in with a majority of their movies. Oh Troy was a total joke !!
Yes i get what you mean, but I think the worst case of PC i have ever seen is this trailer here - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE--r4A9dVwIjQ.html
For whom has read the historical books, your most of your movies are not interesting and for who knows the mythology. Your movies are political why??? Please tell the truth. Achilles was not a very good for example.
Lol sorry I have no control over what ads get displayed on my channel. Although I dont mind Starbucks if they having a sale otherwise they way too overpriced
