Excellent video! Unfortunately I've never come across either Horse Fever or Ave Caesar so I don't own them, never played them, and know nothing about them. The other games I do have, and they're all excellent, not taking themselves at all seriously, and pumping out tons of fun because of this.
Jesus....who knew that there are more horse Games that ready, set, bet😅well here in México just we have that game...hope we can find a lost Game of the original long shot here😅great video.
One of your best reviews…..possibly the 3rd time I’ve watched it. Living in NZ and now the proud owner of about a hoof of a horse with some mates so am going to invite the “syndicate” round for a horse racing games night….this helped massively. Based on availability here, probably “Ready Set Bet” or “Long Shot The Dice Game”..thx mate!
Walter Muller's 1989 game, Favoriten, was the prototype for many of the racing/betting games we see today. Briefly: 6 horses, 1d6. On your turn, roll the dice 6 times, once for each horse. You have 3 betting tokens, and the earlier you place your bets, the better your score, and, like Ready, Set, Bet, you can only place 1 token per space. However, betting 2nd on the winner scores you fewer points than betting 1st on the 2nd placed horse etc. Clever and devious.
yes! was just waiting for someone to do this. was contemplating to teach my kids gambling, a good parent that i am, and couldnt decide between ready set bet & winner's circle.
I managed to buy Winners circle for £10, Longshot for £42 and the KS version of Unicorn Fever (retheme of Horse Fever) for £35!😅 Pretty chuffed! But have had zero time to play any of them yet! 😕
A favourite genre as it easily accommodates 6 players and everyone is familiar with the theme. Ave Caesar and Royal Turf are high on our list of most-played fillers. For a deep dive for deep pockets consider AZA Turfmaster. No love for Totopoly? Me neither.
Long Shot is a good game, but doesn’t even hold a candle to Horse Fever in terms of emotions, options and strategy. More Family/Party game. Don’t agree on HF being complicated as a full game. Me and my wife - non-gamers and non-Italian or English speakers - easily digested the rules of the full game from the get-go. Lots of fun. Constantly fan of Yours.
@@BoardGameBollocks haha! Crap is not good. My daughter loves horses, and is on the equestrian high school school team…just surprised there’s no euro about jumping , breeding, and dressage. We would be all over it.
