Although James Cameron's 4K releases were delayed for a large portion of collector's, we decided to discuss his filmography and name his top 5 films of all time. Matt and Russ give their Top 5's and ask the audience to do the same.

True Lies is better than Titanic. Titanic is a boring snooze fest. Never been able to get thru it without falling asleep. True Lies all the way.

I would personally put Titanic a bit higher. That's the James Cameron movie that I grew up watching in the late 90's. I still haven't seen the Abyss though.

I’m going to be alone here 😂. #5 The Abyss, #4 T2, #3 Aliens, #2 Terminator, #1 Titanic. Hear me out… I know my number 1 sounds absurd but I think it’s Cameron’s masterpiece, and a lot of that has to do with Winslet and Leo’s performance. It’s an entertaining film from start to finish. I watched it at the cinema multiple times at age 13 so nostalgia definitely plays a part. I have to agree with Russ, Terminator is better than T2.

True Lies I watched it like 10 years ago for the first time. It was entertaining but incredibly mid considering the rest of Cameron’s movies. My list would look exactly like Matt’s, and I actually saw The Terminator first on VHS when I was 10, it was badass but T2 took it to another level IMO.

True Lies > The Titanic The Titanic is technically amazing but the acting is atrociously bad, which makes no sense since Kate and Leo are both grade A actors.

I'm interested in this... because I can see what you're saying, but if we're going to single out wooden acting, Cameron is like Lucas. He can make the greatest actor look like shit... In Titanic, it oddly works, since it's basically a classic, golden age Hollywood romance epic, so I don't see the issue. Technically, Leo & Winslet are nailing it, but what they're nailing isn't your cup of tea is how I see this.

@@russceasetheruss5360 part of the problem is the dialogue. And I’d argue the acting in The Terminator and especially The Abyss is top shelf. The acting in Avatar, Titanic, and even to a lesser extent, True Lies, is kinda bad too. Like Lucas, Cameron often writes cliche-ridden dialogue.

My top 5 exactly line up with Russ’s. I do have this soft spot for Way of Water though. I disliked the original Avatar but WOW was such a lightning bolt in the theatre. I have the Collector’s Edition of WOW arriving today so let’s see if it holds up without the 3D.

@russceasetheruss5360 part 3 is the family-friendly one, and it's rated pg13. Robocop 2 is pretty racy like the first film, just not as good.

We probably could have ranked all of them, but we focused on his classics and recent hits, of which all are in our Top five. Piranha and Avatar didn't make the top five so we didn't cover them, and he didn't direct Sanctum so that didn't make the list.

I’m a T1 head myself. Born in 81. I DID see T1 first. Like Russ I apparently had very irresponsible guardians haha. I’d seen Conan commando… all of it. Maybe not raw deal cause who gives a shit about raw deal. I saw all these movies as they became available. My mom aunt and grandma loved Arnold. They were gonna watch these regardless so I was as well

@@russceasetheruss5360 I was just teasing but parents were not nearly as protective you could say. One of my earliest memories was my aunt watching nightmare on elm street with bc she “was afraid to watch it alone”. I was four.

I agree about T2, as a kid i preferred it over the first one but as i got older i find the first film to be far superior. T1 is a sci-fi horror movie whereas T2 is a straight out action flick. I still love T2 though. Top 5 for me 5 - Avatar 4 - Terminator 2 3 - Titanic 2 - The Abyss 1 - The Terminator

Russ I agree with you about T2. By the time that movie was made Arnold was a huge action star and Cameron couldn’t make him the villain. There really is no Top 5 for me. It’s just Aliens and the rest.
