In this video, I show you my top five fishing knots that I use most often. I go through step-by-step to show you how to tie these knots and the situations that each knot is best in. Whether you're a beginner or you've been fishing your whole life, knowing these knots is crucial for catching more fish. Four of these knots are used to tie line to a hook or swivel, while the fifth knot is used to tie mainline to leader material.
1. Improved Clinch Knot - 0:51
2. Uni Knot - 2:23
3. Loop Knot - 3:45
4. Snell Knot - 5:34
5. Double Uni Knot - 7:27

Really great abrasion resistance and though I've never put the Big Game line ru-vid.comUgkxQ4x31pJVpClzhxzNFeILZYTW7Xbs7ZIF (any poundage) through an official test it always seems to break well above rated poundage. This line stretches a very good amount before it breaks and does well in saltwater too. Not the best line for a spinning reel in my opinion, especially if you're planning on using it for lures only due to it having a bit of memory but still a great line whether filling a spool, using as top shot or strictly for leader line. I've bought a bunch of Big game line in the past and plan on continuing to do so in the future.

Yes, turning the hook is very efficient. With ganged trebles like on a hard jerkbait, especially one with quality 'sticky sharp' trebles, the fingers method is much safer.

There's nothing wrong with a Palomar- in fact, it's stronger than a clinch. The only reason not to use it more frequently is the looping it over a large bait. I ALWAYS prefer and use a Palomar knot, if I can.

Hmmm, that loop knot use a two overhand knots. I'm pretty sure if we made the second knot a clinch or improvised clinch knot might improved knot strength 30 - 50%.

Or just use the loop knot for lures and the uni knot for everything else. A uni knot is heaps easier to tie than the traditional snell on a hook shank.

On you number 4 the mine line you showed the mainline going back through the eye of the hook and then you pull it up tight if I’m not mistaken you could not do that if you had your main line going back to your rod it would be going to your eye hook

@SeeYaDude

I'd recommend doing a couple extra loops with your braid then, so like 4/5 turns with the leader and like 6/7 turns with the braid. See if that helps

I do 3 and 7 every time, no issues. the braid needs more wraps.

Surprised that the FG knot was not on this list and your primary used for braid to leader?
@jawjuh1005
@jawjuh1005 4 года назад
I know a lot of people are fixated on this knot but I want knots fast and easy to tie and strong. Do Not Need 100% knot unless you don't plan to use the drag on your reel. The exception is if you plan to use a long wind on leader and you need something to pass through the guides of the rod. I never take my braid/leader knot through the guides.

I don’t even know how to explain how I tie a snell, but I tie it straight on to my hook, same mechanic, but I don’t need a segment of line, I tie it straight to the end, no end to end tie needed
@stv1111
@stv1111 Год назад
Honestly, all these knots have about the same "strength" as far as breaking off a fish "because of the knot you tied" They will all suffice and compare about the same. However, anytime you can "double" your line around the eye of the hook you are increasing your strength! So A "Polymer" "Polymar" knot is my go-to, as it allows me to run the tag end through, then back through the opposite way, leaving a medium size loop, then a partial over hand knot with your lose loop over the main line, and before cinching you just swing your hook through the loop then cinch! Now you have (2) strains of line through the eye and it is by far stronger than any of the knots he just showed. well, beside the leader line the double uni/blood-knot for that! Now go snatch some lips.

Your smell knot had the line coming out of the wrong side of the hook eye. You want the hook to turn into the fish’s mouth. The orientation you tied yours in would make the hook pull away from the fish’s mouth
