A fun, refreshing, silly and well-acted show. I loved the physical humor and all the characters. Came here Jan 2023 to send my condolences to Cindy Williams family, as she died at 75 on Jan 25, 2023. From everything said, she was a kind, spirited and witty person and a pleasure to know. She will be missed, but well remembered. RIP.
I LOVE these two girls. So wonderful together, great memories. I love the episode of the girls working in the dept store wrapping gifts for Christmas, Laverne got hungry and opened a box of chocolates filled with liqueur. Oh it was hilarious!(The Candy Countahhh!" And the way she called Shirley Shuryl? Love it. Those two girls, Lenny and Squiggy really left us something to remember, will ALWAYS love them all. 💖
I also love the one where they give their bodies to science and also the one where they meet Fabian. So funny together were Laverne and Shirley. RIP Penny Marshall.
Definitely loved The Slow Child (Mrs. Babish's slow daughter arrives), The Debutante Ball (Lenny asks Laverne to go to a ball after learning he's Polish royalty), Look Before You Leap (Laverne thinks she might be pregnant), Haunted House (the girls and Lenny & Squiggy go to buy a new couch at a sale at an old mansion), Laverne & Shirley Meet Fabian, The Horse Show (Buttercup the horse stays with the girls), and A Visit to the Cemetery (Laverne coming to terms with her mom's death). Bowling for Rasberries as an honorable mention.
One of my faves is when Laverne & Shirley were auditioning to become models and Laverne couldn't find a cup to drink water out of the fountain. So, she drank the water directly from the fountain.
The "Alice In Wonderland" episode (should've included Rosie Greenbaum as The Cheshire Cat); "The Horse Show"; The amnesia episode, where Shirley thinks she's a stripper; "Guinea Pigs" Squiggy learns to drive Spy at the brewery "Murder On The MooseJaw Express"
Penny Marshall is so cute and l love love love her so much R I P Penny l will miss you so much and in my eyes you will always be my beautiful Laverne De Fazio
Murder On The Moosejaw Express is my favorite, The Diner and Guinea Pigs and anything with Rosie Greenbalm in it was always hilarious. Also liked the episode The Defiant One from season 7 and The Bardwell Caper.
I'm surprised that they didn't include the Christmas episode where the group entertained the residents of an asylum. I still play "The Jolliest Fat Man" every year.
The funniest by far was the two-parter when they plotted to steal a letter from their boss’ office and what we see them plan is dramatically different from what happens in reality.
So many great episodes! One of my favourites for some reason was where they called in sick to work for the day. Shirley had such a tough time lying. I have no idea why this one stuck with me as I was a kid at the time. Maybe I saw my future. Lol
One of my favorite episodes is from season 2 episode 1-Drive! She Said...It’s the episode where Lavern learns to drive. Shirley teaches her how to drive on the couch 🛋 by using a can of beans, a can of corn, and a banana as the gear shift. Lol
"The Right to Light" from Season 5 is still another great one. To quote some lines from it: "Laverne! Looks like that man wasn't bluffing after all! This literally IS dynamite! Both:"IT'S A BOMB!!!" Shirley:"I wonder what time it's set to go off?" Laverne:"How would I know that?" Shirley:"Go over there and find out!" Laverne:"It's set for 12:30!" Shirley:(looks at the clock, which says 12:25)"12:30?! That means we only have five minutes left on this earth!" Laverne asks Sophia the machine for the safe combination, manipulating her voice so it sounds masculine:"Hello, Sophia, this is Henry, I need the combination to the safe, sweetheart! Come on, honey biscuits! You dumb machine! Don't you know if I go, you will also?" With those words, Sophia finally turns on and they frantically start looking for the combination and find it. Then miracle of miracles, they get the safe open, throw the bomb in and close the door, thereby just making it by a HAIR. And of course, the bomber gets caught and they win their right to light.
Separate Tables, the last episode from season 5 is also a great one, where Laverne manages to get over her so-called "monophobia," so Shirley calls it, or fear of going places alone or being alone in general.
Good list!!! My top 5 would be..... *The Quiz Show (1978)* *Murder On The Moose Jaw Express Pt 1 & Pt 2 (1980)* *The Diner (1980)* *Not Quite South Of The Border (1980)* *Laverne & Shirley Meet Fabian (1977)*
I also liked "Not Quite New York," the first episode of season 6, where Laverne and Shirley move out to California as their jobs at the brewery have been automated. Some trivia info: While "Yesterday" by the Beatles was originally and actually played during the "montage" of flashbacks from previous episodes of the Milwaukee days that the girls are quickly reliving in their minds just before they leave, that was edited for the DVD box sets; another song replaced Yesterday during the flashback montage scene. I have the box set of the entire series-all eight seasons. In fact, it was neat how they did it-they put the first five seasons(Milwaukee) in one "subset" and the latter three seasons(California, beginning with the aforementioned episode, which premiered on 10/18/1980 or thereabouts) in another subset. And of course there is a list of all the episodes, listed under their respective seasons, from season 1 to season 8.
Whenever the "Call Me A Taxi" episode is posted on RU-vid the song during the dance number (Fernando's Hideaway) is aways deleted. Is it this way in the box set or is it a YT thing?
That episode takes place in 1965 (as do all of season 6), when the song Yesterday by The Beatles came out. I wonder if that song was purposely used to signal it was 1965? 🤔
I like the earliest episodes where they truly made up and dressed to look really like the early 60s.As soon as they moved to California the dress style looked exactly more like the early 80s even though the show was still set in the 60s.
Was that Rosie ?(I forgot her last name. She lost A LOT OF WEIGHT. In the episode where Laverne & Shirley went to a bridal shower of their high school classmate. Rosie was there and much thinner!! They all look GREAT!!
That blond gum chewing, hacker chick reminds me exactly of a girl I knew in Jr. high/high school. She was such a bully. And the gum. Just like that. That’s probably why my whole life, I despised gum😂
I was about to say, first two and last one, yes, but the Diner and Dick Shawn, don't think so. The Diner just didn't follow thru with something, can't recall what now, just didn't complete it. But the Dick Shawn one definitely wasn't a good one.
The Dick Shawn episode was not a top episode, and there were better episodes than the diner episode. Anytime Laverne, Lenny, shirley and Squiggy were at it were gold, namely when they went to that restaurant. The murder mystery on the train was very good, but I think that was the peak. Nothing was really good after that, very few things. Then the spy after the 'diet beer' recipe; funny, but definitely going way out there, like the murder mystery, but I guess every program has to have a murder mystery and that one was good. But oh, there were way better ones than Dick Shawn. Pretty much any time Rosie herself appeared was gold.
This episode was in the 1st half season, when the show first aired...I lost a lot of weight before the new fall season when I came back as Big Rosie Greenbaum.
Cool episode, too, I remember, with a hoedown on the farm and a wedding picture taken of Laverne and Shirley and Fonzie and Richie with the entire Happy Days gang.
