I grew up in LA and Orange County Ca in the 70’s (im old!) and I think the 70s was the best! Times wont be like that again! Im so thankful for those times!! Thanks for the memories.

Jacob, this was so lovely- you just took me through my coming of age story in the late 70s & early 80’s in LA and Southern California. The only thing missing was the music, the crochet bikinis I used to get custom made by a woman in Topanga Canyon and the fabulous one-piece bathing suits from North Beach Leather. You even came close to describing the car I drove, which was a Karmann Ghia convertible painted peach (it had a mother pearl flower inlay on the wooden knob of the stick shift). So what was I wearing perfume-wise- To ballet class in Studio City Chanel #5 (parfum purse spray) To work (in a hospital): Ombre Rose Jean Charles Brosseau To the beach (Zuma or Laguna): Tea Rose (Perfumer’s Workshop) Clubbing: Opium or Giorgio On a date: Dioressence (parfum) Or Pavlova (Payot)

Hi Dacob, thank you so much for the inspiration. I was thinking of my next Chanel perfume buy and had a difficult time to decide however I decided now to order Gabrielle Parfum and I am 100% sure that I will love it 🥰 I don’t own any of the other Gabrielle versions as they have not been that interesting to me but this one sounds divine!! I bought Giorgio for my mother's birthday at Bloomingdale's back in the 1980s. The sales lady wore a yellow striped jacket and hat. My mom kept the shopping bag til the day she died. One spray lasted for weeks on clothes. Runners up for you list Bijan, Halston and Norell also Versace Blonde. For modern hollywood Comme de Garcon line of abstract scents, seems fitting. They are of everywhere and nowhere at the same time. I just love the way your mind works when it comes to perfume.

Hi Dacob. Great video! I have my own fragrance history with LA. I am from San Diego, so LA was never far for me. I spent many weekends there in the 80s. There's the BH vibe...and then the Melrose vibe. I bought my first bottle of Giorgio in BH back then, with my seasoned LA friend. Giorgio's had the striped awnings like the perfume box. Later on when it became Fred Hayman, they were solid marigold yellow awnings. Then there's Fred Hayman perfume too! These were the days! So there's that perfume. I also picked Shalimar. Very Hollywood. Very....a night at the LA Music Center! Then my top pick, for me is the original Bijan for Women. I LOVE Bijan. I loved it then, and I love it more now. I bought my first bottle in BH at the walk up window that opened to the outside for perfume sales. Because of course you could not go into Bijan unless you had an appointment, and were very rich! They made the most exquisite men's suits. I don't know about now since Bijan passed away. But I loved the experience of buying directly from them. Long line that day too! This was in the late 80s when we went to see Phantom of the Opera! That was a good shopping/ theater trip! ❤

The one from LV that gives me most LA vibes is Cactus Garden! I LOVE that one but LV unfortunately discontinued that one. The mate leaf in that one was truly delicious.
