The "N" means "No Tail Rotor" or NOTAR for short. So you said 6 blades but it has no blades nor tail rotors. The red one is the real MD 600 N, the white is the regular MD 600 with tail rotors.

@@AviationFederation I lived in Az. and would see them flying every once in a while all over Tucson. But I have been a long time admirer since the 80's when the company belonged to other owners. So my apreciatation for the product goes way back to Magnum P.I., "Birds of Prey" with David Jensen and code 240-Robert.....

Hence why the military still uses the little bird. I worked on bell helicopters back in the day forty years ago however I have always had a soft spot for the OH6.

I was a tech inspector (67N30) on the OH-58 (Bell Jet Ranger) in the Army. The 500 series (OH-6) could fly circles around the OH-58. It was then and still is a Ferrari in the sky.

The MD 500-D 🚁 is still a Dream to own but if I win the Lottery, I would take the MD-EXPLORER (luxury edition) 💙🚁💙 … but oh 😧, I don’t even play lottery 😳 / 😉🥶😄‼️ PS: seriously = all MD's are great 🚁's! ✌🏼

#4 was not an MD-600N. The 600N does not have a tailrotor.

I love the MD969 it looks so mean and I remember seeing the MD902 s the police had one in my city and the Yorkshire air ambulance had 3 but they all gone now replaced by airbus aircraft and a plane

The 600N has the worst handling characteristics of the product line. MD support is lacking. Good luck if you need a new MR head. The MD530F is one of the best performing single engine turbines on the market.

The 600N is very easy on the eyes. But everything you said is true. NOTAR and capacity make it relevant. There are users who require both and there are no other options. The 902 is too big and thirsty and the 530N is too small. Maybe if there is enough demand, someone else will fill that niche once the NOTAR patents expire.

MD were Fine before Boeing stuck their oar in! anyone remember the old model 500 with its offset tailplane and two bladed tail rotor? Of course a Huey Beats ALL OF THEM!
