TOP 5 MEANINGS OF MÀ IN VIETNAMESE
1. Number one, MÀ means but, however. If you already know the word nhưng or nhưng mà, yes, mà is their synonym. It is a linking word that links two contrasting ideas or events in a complex sentence
2. Number two, MÀ as a relative pronoun, just like, which, who, that, … in English
3. Number three, MÀ is used to introduce a clause that conveys an if the condition or a hypothesis. Mà can be translated as If. You will also see MÀ goes with THÌ or LÀ. We’ll put mà after the adjective.
4. Number four, MÀ at the end of a sentence is used to put emphasis on persuasion, an affirmation or the reason why sth happened or is happening
5. Number 5. Mà is put between two actions to express the purpose of doing the first action for the second action

I don't necessarily agree with the previous comments that the lesson is too fast. It depends on the level you are at. I think the various meanings were adequately conveyed with enough excellent examples. As to the speed of the conversation, it is the normal speaking speed. I just have to keep listening over and over again to get used to it. It is great for practicing my listening skill. I think if you are at A2 level and at a point where you are considerin finer detail of the grammar, the speed is completly fine. RU-vid also allows you to reduce playback speed manually if necessary.
