The E Class as number 1 and from those years is definitely right. I own a 2010 E Class since new. It has 234,000+ miles and counting. Has never left me on the side of the road. Zero oil leaks if you change the PCV cover every 120,000 miles or so. Not expensive at all. The repairs: A/C blower fan at 150,000. Rack and pinion at 184,000. Bought a certified used one and installed it myself. Rain sensor, A/C compressor, and gasket of oil filter housing at around 226,000. Oh, the leather cover of my seat did tear. Quick and inexpensive repair. That's it. The rest has been lots of maintenance. Oil, filters, gas, batteries, and lots of road.
Thanks for the video, I totally disagree about W163. I have been using 270CDi more than 200.000km. Extremely reliable. After that i had 55 AMG, mighty V8 M113. Excellent engine. Particularly new models wasn't made to last. To many complaints about quality and reliability. IMHO. Good luck to all!
I agree with all models except w163. I live in Africa. It's one of the most reliable vehicles and mine has over 400,000. km. W163 270 CDI manual 6 speed. I go with it upcountry side with n worries. I also own w202, c200 1998 and c250 turbo diesel and are equally durable cars. Thanks for the video
my 1997 c240 elegance w202 is now 27 years old and nearing the 300000 km , I never experienced any of the issues here mentioned, apart from regular maintenance it’s still a car that I still enjoy every day.
I own a 2001 W210 E430 (171,000 miles) and a 2005 W211 E55 AMG (118,000 miles), rust free and 2-3 owners each with excellent maintenance histories on both when purchased. I am an experienced technician and I do all of my own maintenance, mods and repairs. I addressed the air ride issues on the E55 and went with an adjustable coil over since I am modding the car to around 600hp and needed something I could adjust when I want to take it to the track or ‘Mexico’… 😉👍 I would get in either car and drive them across the country but there is ALWAYS something minor that’s broken and there are ALWAYS check engine lights that pop on occasionally but most are very minor EGR codes that stay away for months and having an OBD2 plug in scanner and use Torque app is a must to avoid the panic to take it to someone whenever you get a random light. If you are even a little mechanically inclined these cars are rock simple to work on, especially the W210 models and my E430 V8 gets 26-27mpg regularly on highway trips and the E350 models of both body styles are just as tough and reliable, just a little less power and better gas mileage. I’ll never get rid of either of mine.
I own c class w202 cdi 220. I abused that car from 2009 to 2023 except some electrical problems, this car has been extremely reliable. Also I own a GLK 220 cdi 2015. So far so good. I hope It will serve me without troubles.
@@a.kocharyan00 this has nothing to do with the amount of cylinders. A cars reliability is way more. And you can get 4 cylinders on all of these models. But the w202 will rust away after some time.
Go old school- I daily- as of 8/2024- 1985 W126 300SD 5 Cyl in- Turbo Diesel @ 323000 mi- runs very strong- minor surface rust on doors & faded paint- can cruise on hi-way @ 80mph - smoothly 😊
Well let me see.....I own a ML500 and a GL450. If you have a bit of talent for minor auto repairs, these are crazy cheap to buy and great to own. My 2003 ML500 has had no problems other than air conditioning and radiator replacement. The interior is like new. I love these Mercedes and encourage all my friends to buy them.
Currently own 2004 w211 e270cdi, with 440k km on odometer, only issue is rust in europe weather, other than that, regular maintanance and replacement of susupension arms etc. Engine and gearbox are very strong 🤘
I have been a merc enthusiast for 20yrs all I see hes talking about is the new model mercs, the old ones with the faults he's talking about have all been taken care of. So the new models are better with new safety features, more power durable and all.
Had a W114 with 768,000km! No trouble. I owned 5, about to buy two G400d Geländewagen Our direct family owned 23 Mercedes-Benz over the past six decades. We never had a mirsaydeez though. Oh, Anglophones just cannot pronunciate 😢😊
oh please. I own 2 "C" classes. One 1999 and other 2020....I can assure you, nothing beats 1999....I can blindly trust my old tank anytime of the day over these new generations :)
I had a 94 c- class. The only problem was the rust. But it was the car technically and mechanically sound. It had almost 500k and could easily do another 250k. E-Class diesels are mostly used as taxis in Europe. You can scoop oe for sale with over 500k miles. European benzes have a different spec as comparef to their American counterparts. If you are looking for an older reliable one, go for cloth seats, manual shift and sometimes mechanical windows.
Daimler spent over millions of dollars globally to recall the w220 built from 1998till 2000 for rust repair and anti corrosion treatment because of using the anti corrosion compounds used during the Daimler Chrysler league. My uncle who used to work in the paint house had a hard time.
@@chau778 Chrysler had nothing to do with it.Mercedes rust problems began as early as 1993-1994 when they changed to watercolours. The problem was already there with the late W124s and continued with W202,W210..just about any model.
I confirm. I have an e klasse from 2012, on diesel. 170 horsepower. Automatic box. It's going very well. And it looks the same. It's black. From Germany.
W202 is one of the most reliable mercs ever made tf is he talking about.Combines entry luxury with enough car power and beautiful classic design. Those things back in the day costed a fortune to buy and belong in the golden era of Mercedes.Complete misinformation about the W202 C class
I have a 99 W202, lovely car, super reliable, 180k miles, going strong with nothing more than regular services, and admittedly one fuel pump... definitely not a Mercedes model to avoid IMO.
OK, speaking of cars made 2019 and after in the 2024 doesn't makes sense to refer to those as good cars, because they are still new (car up to 5 years old) The review for the best cars should focus on cars after 5 years in the market production in my opinion. And the cars mentioned as bad choice, most of those are old cars much more than even 10 years old in some cases. My point is we should consider the age of the cars in combination with the annual visits to repair stores! Cheers!
I think this video was wrong about the W202. What should have been there is the W203 of which some had balance shaft issues. How this video missed the W203, remains a mystery. Any Mercedes that uses the M276 (3.5 liter version) engine is generally reliable. This includes the W212 and W204 which never seemed to get mentioned and yet is an outstanding performer.
My w203 c270cdi has stormed thru to 320000km without any issues.engine six speed box and clutch are like new.not a drop of oil added between oil changes.
@@adrianzilic5753 That is a rare W203 and the very last manuals Mercedes made. The early versions of the W203 which had the 4 cylinder supercharged engines carried over from the W202, were okay. The problem began with their new 2.5 liter v6 and 3.5 liter v6 which was the M272/M273 some of which had balance shaft problems. This was an expensive problem to fix. It cost around $3500 to fix. Once the car threw a check engine light, it would not go away until it was fixed. The W204, the facelift model which uses the M276, that uses the 3.5 liter v6 engine, remains the best engine Mercedes ever made and the last naturally aspirated engine Mercedes made. You could find that engine in the W212 E350, C350, C300 4matic, etc. In the c300 4matic it made 250 horses with all wheel drive and 300 horses for the rear wheel drive C350. The engine was fast, reliable, and very responsive. Mercedes used the M276 for just about everything they made. The early W204 used a 3.0 liter version of the M276. This version was carried over into the W205 and twin turboed in the C450 and C43 AMG.
I, unfortunately, bough an R Class, spent a fortune on repair and then sold it for 25% of what I paid, excluding repairs. I don't care what type or class, I will never buy another Mercedes.
I Owned a W220 S class I loved the drive but it was a nightmare with constant repair needed particularly suspensions I also owned a W638 V class constant problem with injectors but inused to change the washer but eventually i have her away. A W210 E Class 4 years old engine failure at 74kmiles and and than computer problems finally sold to car dealer a W206 C Class mote also problem with engine management .. I have now a W213 E class 220d I dont know about reliability as is like new i owned for 2 and half years drove 18 k miles from travel Europe, touch wood is the best Merc i ever owned. I only had a problem with the boot closing mechanism. My bodybwork repair guy charge me only for the part. lees than 50 pounds.
The door treatment of w220 S Class which mimicked the 1ST two generations of lexus LS400 ( the door frame rolls into the A pillar and the roof) was way too poor and made it susceptible to rainwater seepage and rust along the door frame
Hi you make a mistake the best SUV ever made for Mercedes ML350 I do have one of them $430,000 Mil and still running like a tank now you talking about rust even if you buy a brand new car and you live up north the car I will get rusted quickly even if the car worth half a million dollars I hope you understand
GLA 250e issues related to driver side window rubber sealer started at 2 years into ownership, from new. None of my AUDIs experiences any issues in their first four years and if it weren't for the disgusting dealership here in Belgium, I would have never switched. But let's see the EQB how it fares, the warranty now claims it covers the rubber seals for windows.
When choosing a mercedes it is esential to be aware of it's issues and to have good specialists for it. I saw w163's, w220's and w202's running ten of thousands of km. So this video has no real point from a owner point of view. I can also make a video o bmw's best cars without ever owning one just from some quick research. I agree rust is a problem for the aformentioned models, but consider that a newer C class, a CLA (worst design of mercedes ever made), GLC if they break down after waranty you will be eaten alive. If a Speed Sensor for a 2004 W211 E200 Kompressor is 1100euro, new original part, I don't want to imagine for a new C class. I would rather keep a w220 as there are tons of parts at car dismantling sites and the rust can be fixed. W202 problems that you listed depend on the engine, but with a little care it will run more than those newer crossovers. And for people buying a w220 expecting to be maintined by itself, you should consider buying a Prius or better yet, a bicycle, but wait, the chain on that bike will also require perioid oil lubrication, breaks, etc. So please, don't call a car bad just because people don't care to change the oil or run with a 20.000km oil wich even for a 1.9 tDi is stupid. I've had no personal experience with a w163, I am aware of quality issues regarding the plastics as it is common with the w203, but still the w203 is far from beying a bad car. Also, the w124 is considered to be legendary by people, but it still needs to be taken care off and no, the w124 200d haven't got to achieve 1.000.000 without oil change.😂
lol, I test drove and was about to buy a 2024 Mercedes GLC300 with AMG package but my wife hates the exterior look (I do too but I can live with it). Then she suggested looking at Cadillac. Wow we love the distinctive look and 33 in screen of the 2024 Cadillac XT4 that we bought one. My video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ehsMYDQQHHU.html
soo, how can a 2021 and 2022 model C class have proven to be reliable and long lasting when they're only been on the market for a couple` years xD Reliability won't proven until at least 5 years no?
What a load bollocks 😂 I own 2 w163s 1 for nearly 9 years and 1 for 4 years both V8s utterly reliable People can’t believe the age of them and how good they look for there age. I also own a C216 CL500 and that too again utterly brilliant. The only reason these cars have an allegedly bad rep is because the people who buy them don’t look after them properly. Not this 5 minutes of bullshit 😂
Another faceless RU-vid channel with the aid of AI spewing nonsense. Everybody here knows the 5 cars listed here not to buy (excluding the r- class and maybe the Gl) are the best Mercedes Benz vehicles to buy....you said the w202 is the worst of them all? The w202 is the best of them all!
Ask portuguese taxy drivers.....!! Which one are the best.....,mercedes were made to.last long....., its normal more then 300.000 klms.., normal plus 400.000 klm....,
This is the Mercedes worse review ever!!😂😂 just come out straight and tell us this is a paid service from the company to discourage people from buying their old models for our trust in them and reliability.. they want to sell their newer versions accepted.. but by no chance are you right .. the one right things is the fact that E class is close to perfection and is not even limited to the years you mentioned but started from 2010 E series till 2016 . With the 2014 - 16 are face lifted…
To compare a car from 1994 or 1998 with cars from 2021 in terms of rust takes serious "knowledge" 😂😂. Modern cars, no matter which brand are built on the lowest quality level ever in history of car manufacturing!
Mercedes .... Hell no. S class is still the worst car ever . S550. is the ONLY car that will break down on you while parked in your garage . Yes it is that bad ! The wiring harness is still not fixed . I wonder what it will take for MB to finally address this catastrophic design. If you really must have a German car go with BMW . It is fixable and it drives ......while MB is being fixed Stay away from MB or you will bleed . Yes you will pay through your nose
