Our old home had two, twelve feet tall Huge purple Lilacs scented the whole yard - wonderful happy flowers ! Which one is the most powerfully sweet sented Lilac ?
Hi there SeaJay! I picked our horticulturists brain and he says you'll probably get the most powerful sweet scented fragrance from Dwarf Korean Lilac or Miss Kim Lilac. He also mentioned that both the common purple and common white lilacs have very powerful classic lilac fragrance. Hope this helps! -Whit

I grew up in Michigan were lilacs are huge. Southern California where I live has unique and beautiful plants but lack lilacs pastel beauty. I sorely miss the fragrance and beauty of lilacs.
Hi there Diane, the lilacs listed here are not rated for zones 8 & 9. While there are a couple that are technically rated to be zone 8 hardy, all lilacs need a cold period during winter to flower. We highly suggest checking around where you live to see if any varieties successfully set flowers in your region. Another great resource is your local extension office. They will have the most experience with what works well for your climate. We hope this helps! -Whit
I was wondering if you could help me identify the lilacs in my yard. We just moved here and I want to be sure they are not Persian lilacs that can be poisonous to my dogs.
